I figured out a fun new way to use tofu and I wanted to use it to make vegan nuggets! After playing around a bit I realized the texture was similar to what I experienced when I tried the Impossible nuggets! ‪@ImpossibleFoodsYT‬ So I took a look at the ingredients list and got to working! In my opinion this is the closest you can get to a homemade impossible chicken nugget!

Another suggestion: add some oil to the panko/corn flake mixture so it gets golden and that deep fried flavor when air frying or baking

I did do a quick spirt of the avocado oil over the nuggets before frying!! That totally helps!

I love your recipes and your wife is so fortunate to have you as her chef. You are a kitchen scientist. I do find your recipes quite complicated and won't go to the trouble to make them but they sure are fun to watch you make them and dream about making them. These remind me of vegan chicken nuggets I used to make for my brother (who is an omnivore but devours everything I make) and I. Nowhere near as advanced, they were just tofu nuggets, but my breading was similar and I did the freezing method where you can slightly change the texture of the tofu. We loved them so much, I made them all the time when I first went vegan like, 16 years ago! I need to find that recipe again, and incorporate some of your ideas from this video and make them even better. My brother actually asked me the other day when I was going to make them again he thought of them in a dream and wants some now! Love your videos man, I watch the new ones as soon as I can.

Our family are meat eaters my sister and I were the only ones went vegan but for health reasons I can't be completely vegan anymore but I still make a lot of your recipes for my family and they always seem.excited and happy when they find out they've eaten vegan version of something , cus I don't tell them til after they eat it haha

update: made them today! i hydrated the tvp with boiling water, then squeezed it out before grinding it a bit finer; i’d say i should’ve let it sit longer before squeezing, and done so more thoroughly to get that soggy soy flavor out. texture is great! needs a bit more chick’n broth powder, maybe a little bit of powdered poultry seasoning herb mix. incredible recipe to start with!

Veg nuggets are one of the things I've not been able to find that I just LOVE. Morningstar ones are meh, I don't enjoy the Gardein ones (even the newer line I don't like the texture), Quorn are pretty good (honestly the best ones I've had so far). I wanted to love NUGGS but they have a gummy texture. So I'm excited to see if the Impossible ones are an improvement. Yours look great and honestly not that difficult of a recipe!

I've had the same experience!! Quorn are really great, the impossible nuggets are really great! I LOVE the texture. I think this version I made here is the closest to the impossible nuggets ive tried! I also felt weird about the Nuggs! To me they were good, not great.

Update: I found some Impossible nuggets and tried them today. They're so good! They remind me of when I was a kid eating the cheap Banquet brand nuggets. Certainly better than any others on the market right now.

What I really like is this gives impossible nuggets an alternative tbey when it can't be found locally. And as you said when things are that close in taste and texture it can also be a more cost effective replacement (assuming you have a supply of the aforementioned items on hand for preparong other vegan recipes)

The only issue is finding methylcellulose and TVP. Its not available in most places. Also the chicken broth powder that Sauce Stache uses isn't available where I live in Canada. I think we should have options in the global market for these products.

Those look really good. I think its faster to run out and buy the impossible nuggets and be done with it. Cheaper too if you calculate your time and ingredients.

I agree with you. I personally think it's just fun recreating dishes and foods but only when you have the time and energy. I say this as someone that just bought veggie nuggs the other day instead of cooking a real meal. I do go all out for special events and holidays and make my own faux meats and it takes some time and unique ingredients.

"Regular" storebought chicken nuggets are processed so much it barely tasted like meat at all. No reason a plant-based version shouldn't be as good or better... Those look absolutely incredible, and not actually disgusting (unlike the real thing, and I say this as someone who eats meat every now and then). Can't wait to try it!

Mark, you are a trailblazer when it comes to innovative vegan plant-based recipes and video production. Your RU-vid contemporary Sonny, from Best Ever Food Review, has said that Indian chefs have a PhD in spices. I believe that you should have a PhD in vegan recipe creations, research, and vegan cuisine ingredient knowledge. These categories together are entertaining, educational, and eye opening to those evolved enough consider vegan cuisine mainstream.
