This is a review of the 2022 retired Longines Conquest Automatic 41mm and why it is better than the new Conquest released in 2023. I will give you my top 5 reasons why so. Do you agree or not? Let me know in the comments below.

2022 Longines Conquest specs:
Stainless steel case with a stainless steel bracelet. Fixed stainless steel bezel. Black dial with luminous silver-tone hands and index hour markers. Arabic numerals mark the 6 and 12 o'clock positions. Minute markers around the outer rim. Dial Type: Analog. Luminescent hands and markers. Date display at the 3 o'clock position. Longines calibre L619/888 automatic movement, based upon ETA 2892, containing 21 Jewels, bitting at 25200 vph, and has a power reserve of approximately 64 hours. Scratch resistant sapphire crystal. I totally agree. I do like the new model but it's not as sporty or substantial looking and the reduction from 300 to 100 ATM suggests it's not as resilient either, and it looks like more of a dress watch than an everyday sports watch. I know the huge 6 and 12 markers on the old version are polarizing but I like them. I don't mind the date at 6 and on the blue colour they have at least colour matched the date wheel this time around, but here's the real kicker for me - as the old model was being replaced, some retailers had it on sale for as little as £800 and I'm still kicking myself for not buying one. That's a huge £1200 less than the new one. I haven't really had chance to look since (and I did buy something else, a little bit different, a Boldr Safari GMT for around £400, great watch and great value for money) but I might still consider a new "old" Longines Conquest if I saw one for similar money.

+@1stmobileuk thanks for your input. I'd keep looking. There are some people selling their Conquests. Getting a brand new "old" version is getting tougher these days because many appreciate the value.

I agree with your assessment. They seem like two very different watches. I prefer the old model for the reasons you stated. It's a bolder, more modern looking sports watch whereas the 2023 model looks more like a vintage inspired dressier watch.

Yes, good assessment, it's pretty much what the new one is but as classy as it looks, it doesn't look distinctive enough. At least it's not another "me too" dive watch,

Sorry but from my point of view these huge Arabian numbers 12 & 6 really look clumsy. The new one is much more elegant.

I like new the model more, but I have seen the old model sold for less than 1000 euros in Finland. That's a quite difference and makes me think twice.

I dont concur with your opinion yet you are 100% entitled to it. Owning many Longines as well as Omegas and Rolexes, I can tell you Longines should have considered placing this timepiece in a different category (maybe Classic) as it is NOT a traditional Conquest.. It is superior in it's elegance, finishing, aesthetics and movement. Not a sports watch in my opinion but rather a more classic and dressier timepiece. Could be an excellent GADA if not for the bracelet. Everything about it is superb. From the minimalist appointments, low lume, date at 6 o'clock, brushed and polished tapered bracelet and the see through case back. Though it is not COSC certified, mine keeps time at 0+/-1 per day. At the $2000 price point, it's a steal. Can buy all 5 colors vs 1 Rolex OP that frankly doesn't do it for me anymore. And vs. 2 omegas AT which in many ways does not merit the price. Better timepiece and different timepiece all around. At $1000, the previous conquest is a daily beater watch that can take a punch and look good anywhere going at it. Another steal in its own right and merits recognition as a sports watch. 300M is crazy awesome. Good thing is we can enjoy both and have $$$ to spare. 😂

Does seem odd that they should replace the old watch with a completely different style of model though. Personally I would have liked to have seen them retain the old version as a sports watch, maybe tweak it a little here and there, and introduce the new version as a completely different model, as they are two totally different watches.

Those numerals on the old one look clownish, not exciting imo. The dials on the new one are stunning, particularly the blue, green and brown. You can dress it up a lot more while keeping it sporty. The older one just doesn’t look elegant at all. The dials are also bland and nowhere near the finish of the new ones. The new one wins in every way other than water resistance and price. Of course, this is my opinion, not fact :)
