This was one of the best panels representing the various ways one may be or can express as the opposite sex. The guests were all so tolerant of the audiences sometimes "offensive" questions, and the audience, despite their ignorance, were genuinely curious and understanding. Donahue was really the best at increasing understanding of multiple social and human phenomenon.

11:36 I realized at this moment, what if the doctor pronouncing the gender of the baby just writes “hermaphrodite” on the card… instead of having to assign a gender?

Only Donahue could present those questions so eloquently.

Theres actually a few good questions that could have been bwtter answered with a view to educate, if theyvhadnt been askedcin such a mockibg demeanour by audience members asking questions that they dont even care abiyt the answer. Theyre just tryna get seen on TV utteri g tbeir little party peice like theyve just thought it uo themselves

I didnt see any of these when they came out cos i was only 10, but i well remembervthw show being listed on the TV guide at thevtime. But as a TS woman, who has toiled for years with ny own gender, seei g some of tbese shows, i wish i had seen them back at thr time. . I think it may have expmained a lot of tbings and msybecid hafe come to terns with being transsexual much sooner. But at age 10, "Boring Adult talk" and the News was rheclastvtgingvi wanred to watch. I recall watching a few debate shows in highschool but unfortunately none on the topic of gender or Transsexual issues or questions. I think it eould be highly veneficial to pupils to be shown more stuff like this. Its educational and at least educates people to the differences betwwen TS, TVs, CDs abd Drag Queens etc. I dont see any sign of trying to influence anyone into being Trans or haviing their minds poisoned

I saw it when I was in 5th or 6th grade depending on the air date. It was like a light bulb went off in my head. I had feelings of gender dysphoria as far back as age 4. Seeing afternoon talk shows discuss this was a double-edged sword. One on hand, I was happy to know that this was a real thing and I wasn't fucked up for feeling the way that I did. On the other hand, it depressed me seeing how people reacted and the reactions of my family members certainly didn't help. I came out at age 29 and never looked back.

I like that they clearly outlined the differences between gender variant people as well as intersex even if the terminology is a bit dated. The archetypes are still very much valid and loved Eve's poise and confidence:)

So in 1989 there were only 10k transexuals in the U.S. and now there are nearly two million!? 🤔🧐

Gee I wonder why?!? i don’t know maybe it’s because they kept getting murdered! or the stigma around being transgender was so negative people stayed closeted! perhaps it’s because it is now more widely accepted now! Gosh golly who knows!!

They couldn’t even do this show today. All the woke people today that would be so offended at some of the innocent questions.

real problem would be the regressives that would come to this show convinced lgbtq people pose a threat to them or their kids.
