everytime i see this , im shattered and heart broken.. what a truly incredible young man... and what a fantastic family .. God bless you all . RIP Donal.. my inspiration
Donal, your spirit is alive and you are an inspiration to us all. Thanks Donal for being such a brave young man, love you and hugs to you and your mam, dad and sister.
an amazing young man. may God bless you. it isn't fair to see a young man having to suffer and I found it hard to watch. but it is true that no matter what problems we have in this life,we have to make the most of our life. no matter what problems we have, be it money,or jobs, we only get one shot at life. so if you are troubled in life, just take a quiet moment and get up early in the morning and watch the sun come up,or take a quiet moment for yourself and remember that we are never long for this world and make every moment count. and remember be good to eachother and don't fight with other. make love not war.
To Fionnbar,Elma and Jema... You must be so proud to have had such a wonderful Son and Brother in your lives... such an inspirational young man... Thank you Donal for sharing your story with us... Rest In Peace Donal +
From the bottom of my heart, RIP Donal, you certainly seem a very intelligent articulate young man, and you have indeed left your mark on this world and I hope your words do make people think. My sympathies are with your family and friends at this sad time :( But I am gonna say a controversial thing, although he really suffered and no should like he did, im not sure hes the best voice in suicide action, hes 16 and has never had a mental illness, ppl with mental illness suffer greatly too...
I was watching it I was crying to be honest on his story but his appeal to enjoy life not commit sucide he loved life to the full he frought the cancer for 4 years rest in peace Donal
A very brave young man, but he has absolutely no idea about suicide. To hold his views up as the new mantra on suicide prevention is beyond dangerous, it might sound modern and radical, but at the end of the it's just a rehash of the old, naive view that you can guilt trip someone out of committing suicide, which is never, ever the case.
His mom visited my school on December 5th in Kilkenny. She thought we were a very chatty bunch of students even as myself and my friend Joseph were the fellas who asked her the most questions. RIP Bud.
Lovely as this young fella was and as heartbreaking as his suffering and passing has been, I believe he did not understand the nature of mental illness. He voiced the opinions about suicide that are held by the majority of the population, who are not educated on the topic, and which are the very opinions that mental health organisations are actively engaged in confronting. On one level suicide certainly is a choice, but on another it must be taken into account that a person's mind when in the throes of suicidal ideation is possessed by mental illness and they are not as autonomous in their actions as (forgive me) a cancer patient. This problem needs to be understood and addressed in society, if only to save lives and to improve the quality of a sufferer's life. Donal's misunderstanding of the nature of suicide should be forgiven, but the anger and confusion that he felt should be attributed to and directed at the government, whose lack of initiative in combating the stigma that surrounds mental illness has not helped to reduce the suicide rates.
