I will never forget heading out of Manhattan, New York from Penn Station (on a Bus) and up through the Bronx listening to this (the whole album), and with the rain just coming down in buckets late day (early mid 80's). The ride was slow stop and go through Manhattan and the Bronx, and it did take time to clear the city. It was real, emotional, and words just can't grasp what it was. But it was, and to the late Donald Byrd.
I greatly appreciate the knowledge you share in your comments. As you know, this is a marvelous rendition of great song by a stellar group of musicians in the very prime of their respective careers.....and the vid should have a million views by now.
I just discovered this pearl, which shocked me, because there was a huge hit in Belgium, which now suddenly appears to be a cover... It is called 'Magnus - Summer's here' (from the movie 'Anyway the wind blows')
i first this in my friend, Ronnie's basement, St. Albans, Queens in 1967. Still sounds cool. Takes me back. Wonder how Ronnie, Greer, Yvonne, Cookie and Rodney are doing.
Thank You. I was 12 year old in the 1970's when I stumbled on this song/album in brothers collection. I didn't know anything about GOD or a sin sick world trying to find love but I was moved by this song to play it so many times My brother made a tape for Me! JAH Love
