At his best Donald Curry was an excellent well-rounded technician with underrated defensive skills so that's what I wanted to focus on for this highlight. For a very short period of time Curry was considered P4P the best fighter in the world and at his absolute peak he was a brilliant fighter that unfortunately tends to get overlooked today. Lone Star Cobra at his best! www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

I really admired Curry while he was at welterweight. Not sure if it was managerial, addictions or circumstances outside of the ring, but after the McCrory fight, Curry was never the same. He started fighting with his head buried into his opponent's forehead, his reflexes weren't as crisp. It almost seemed as if he was a burnt out fighter. His physique wasn't of a fighter much larger than a welterweight. This was apparent as he moved up to 154 and beyond. He just seemed outmuscled and looked like the weaker fighter. At his peak, he was something special.

I remember this guy. I remember him beating EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE. Then he got knocked out by Mike McCallum in a shocker and he just fades away. No more HBO. No more Saturday afternoon boxing on the big three networks. It taught me a lesson on how quickly people forget you.
