Suspense did this same story a couple of years earlier, which starred a young EDDIE BRACKEN. This time it's a young Donald O'Connor in the lead role. He plays a teenager that was believed to be dead, but makes a surprise return to his hometown. The sound quality is good. So is the story.

√√✓✓√√✓✓√√ Stuff . . . and Such: I don't usually post repeated stories, but this will give listeners a chance to hear a different actor doing a previously aired episode, or perhaps you didn't hear the one uploaded last year. Anyways, there's little or no variations from the first production other than the actors. So . . . . There we are!?

Wow! A tremendous dramatization and featuring one of my favorite actors - the one and only Donald O'Connor. Thank you so much Charlie for sharing this great episode of "Suspense."

Yes, it IS a good story! Another favorite of mine. When I was a little kid, I thought Donald O'Conner's name was "Donald O'Conald!" Hey! It made sense to me at the time - Thanks again, Walter!

@@SuspenseESCAPEremastered When I was about 7 years old I thought the "Lone Ranger" was the "Long Ranger."

@@SuspenseESCAPEremastered hmm we can't be sure if it's intentional or not, but whenever I watch his movies or other videos his voice always cracks. I always found it hilarious and adorable!

@@de-lovely7859 I think it's something natural his voice just did, but he was also able to exaggerate it for comic effect and used it as a punchline a few times. It's usually pretty subtle otherwise.

I thought it was odd that nobody asked him where he had been for three years?

They thought he was dead, drowned off the pier, body not found.

@@SuspenseESCAPEremastered Right…but he clearly didn’t die. So where was he? And why?

I liked this better than the other version. Not a great story, though. Why was the step father reluctant to be included in his wife's will? Why didn't Bud remember more about the neighbors? Why didn't he read what he signed? Glad this version (obviously) changed Bud's final remark from the 1944 version, that he'd get some "excitement" from being in the war😢

Wild. The dead are returning and visiting old friends. Hope he's not a zombie. Who is the woman who plays Bud's mother? She sounds familiar. Great twist ending!

Sounds like Verna Felton, she was in a lot of Disney movies as well.
