There was a shared understanding of the times and where we stood on Black issues. Most wouldn't know the levels to US and JA roles in the Black Liberation movement. People were teaching our history at the time and the music reinforced it. Felt the Energy and respect between both athletes, bless

Whenever a Kenyan or Ethiopian wins, if one from either country wins and the others didn't win any medals, they all still take their flags and make a victory lap. I always notice that about those countries in East Africa. Also, they work together in the long distance races, some people might not even take notice. They help their strongest runner to win( not saying everyone should do it). Just something I notice they do.

If you watch the video (4:25) you'll see Quarrie WAITS for Evans to begin jogging a victory lap.

I was playing a cricket match in St Ann's Bay at the time. I was keeping wicket and heard a loud shout coming from the players in the pavilion that evening(they were listening to the radio, as the race got underway and ended). I'll always remember the moment.

@Johnmag1976

@@seanrichards5626 gold is what counts on any other event at the Olympics. But usually, at sprinting, gold goes along with great times.

Athletes at Olympics go for Gold first and foremost. Great Times and performances secondary and that goes for all events including Sprints.
@Johnmag1976
@Johnmag1976 3 месяца назад
@@seanrichards5626i do not agree. 20.24 is disappointing ( was that great night). Pietro Mennea had run 3 times sub 20.20 in 1976 spring. Of course, his 19.72 in Mexico is not his real value. Even Robertson broke an incredible time that day.
@Johnmag1976
@Johnmag1976 3 месяца назад
@@seanrichards5626this is true on any distance except sprint. Athletes being pushed usually run at their PB level.
