Apologies about the reupload. The last one was age-gated due to 1/2 a second of non-puritan content (it showed a girl dancing suggestively). When a video is age-restricted it usually ends up removed from recommendations. I took out the part that I think was causing great moral harm to the RU-vid community.
I think that due to the political nature of it (as well as the many comments left by very nice Trump supporters), the video was getting mass-reported. Eventually someone at RU-vid must have seen something that the report claimed was there
I have the best mental illness. Narcissistic personality disorder is the best disorder anyone can have. My delusions of grandeur are the greatest delusions of all time
@@elinquisidorperseverante6835 no idea what my “supply” would be. I don’t have people around me to admire me, and anyone with a brain can look through my social media and see that. also I’m not always the good guy lol
Narcissism wouldn't be so horrifying if it only destroyed the narcissist. What makes it so horrifying is that they are willing to destroy everyone else around them in the process just so they can deny their own destruction as the result of their own hubris.
It's true that a narcissist destroys their surroundings, but it's not necessary that a narcissist would destroy themselves. Narcissists can dominate the world and be at the top. It's a winning personality which becomes self destructing if not controlled properly.
I was raised in a a household just like Trump's. It's unfortunate he succumbed to his own lies. I felt empty for a long time, but I've been doing better mentally for a while now. It's a terrible way to live
So happy you saw the light, well done! Overcoming that has got to be one of the hardest things. It obliterates your world view and sense of self before it comes together. Very painful
My former roommate was both a narcissist AND had a victimhood complex. What a nightmare. Talk about someone who's impossible to reason with.... He's now trying to literally **sue** me over some legos he misplaced while living here. Yeah, you read that correctly. F#^%ing MISPLACED LEGOS.
"In northwest Alaska, kunlangeta "might be applied to a man who, for example, repeatedly lies and cheats and steals things and does not go hunting, and, when the other men are out of the village, takes sexual advantage of many women." The Inuits tacitly assume that kunlangeta is irremediable. And so, according to Murphy, the traditional Inuit approach to such a man was to insist he go hunting, and then, in the absence of witnesses, push him off the edge of the ice." ― Martha Stout, The Sociopath Next Door
A lot more than 1% of the population has Narcissism. It's hardly ever diagnosed because they are the least likely to see a psychiatrist because they don't think anything is wrong with them. It's usually the victims of the abuse who are told that their abusive loved one(s) is a narcissist.
The stat was about NPD as a diagnosed disorder. Narcissim as a personality type is not diagnosed and we don't have stats. But judging by my own environment: most people are narcs.
Even 1% is increadibly common for narcissists extreme enough to be a hazard to others. (It's only at this point that it's a disorder) Then there is social media that caters to the self-absorbed, enhancing their image and showing it to the world.
@@stefangrobbink7760 1% is only for overt narcs tha got (probably forcefully) into mental treatment. There is plenty that don't attend mental help because they have no problem with it (it's just the others that suffer). And there are covert type narcs that even harder to quantify.
I commend you for making me feel empathy for Trump. I believe it's important to have as many perspectives as possible, and I've always wondered why he is the way he is. That poor kid, he never had a chance with parents like that.
@@KnzoVortex I've always felt that was a more nuanced way to understand things but I also wonder at which point does a persons unwillingness to self reflect and attempt to change then warrant some blame? I've met people who I absolutely can see why they act in a self destructive or anti social way, THEY know something is wrong but there's some mental blocking of any confronting of the idea that they might be the reason for their problems. Or are some peoples mental disorders so bad that there just isn't a magical set of words or actions that would ever allow them to change?
Learning about Trump's past was actually wild. Also fun fact he used to be more left leaning (culturally, that is. Still can't go taxing the megacorps lmao) and liberal, and some decades back wanted Oprah (yes, Oprah. Trump wanted Oprah) to be his Vice President because of the example she set to women on success through hard work.
If you look at his history of politics, he’s actually *usually* been in the opposing political party of whichever political party is in charge or popular at the time.
Kraut has a REALLY good video on him. If you like Sisiphus you'll like him too. It's called "Trumps biggest failure" (because his biggest failure is taking attention away from China and underestimating their geopolitical power, and you click the video because you think its about Trump, further enforcing this point)
Also, the video does address the issue of the 'utopian ideals' behind Stalin and Mao..We may not understand or agree with them but they are about more than just 'Donald knows best & must always be right'! In Trump's world, there is no concept of anything outside himself.
Xi isn’t really anything special. He’s a socialist bureaucrat, the picture of what the CCP strives for in its party members. In this sense has has much more in common with people like Joe Biden, Mitch McConnell, or Nancy Pelosi. He simply serves opposite values.
Whew, with the propaganda pushed into him that guy is a mess. He thinks he is a historical figure & the only one capable of bringing China to greatness, that only those who prove themselves loyal to the cause, can do it & he is such. He sat through the propaganda & worked his way up.
Can we take a step back and admit that perhaps Chomsky was exaggerated just a tad? I mean I'll fully admit I misjudged Trump in 2016 but come now - more dangerous than Stalin.
Easily. It’s not as though Chomsky has ever exaggerated anything before. /s Just to play devil’s advocate, however, I suppose you could reasonably argue that America’s cultural dominance and self-declared title of beacon of democracy makes an anti-democratic American leader more dangerous than an anti-democratic and expansionist leader of a foreign nation. That said, given Chomsky’s frequent depictions of America as some sort of evil empire, I doubt this was the take he meant.
@@dialectic5361 If you want to look at it from that oversimplified, black and white, Chomskian perspective, by all means, do so. Just know that it’s just as inaccurate as depictions of America as some sort of God-blessed city on a hill which can do no wrong.
@@ZeteticPhilosopher how about the following take: america is an evil empire, but not out of inherent evil. it has been on a slippery slope of "if we want to stay as important and mighty as we are, we have to do [x]" x being wars, annexations, coups, keeping the majority poor and undereducated.
I am so glad this is explained to a point anyone can understand. He was a narcissist, he is a narcissist, he will be one. Trumpism is exactly the president that once was.
No doubt about The Don being a full blown narcissistic egomaniac. Still, I believe that we all have narcissistic tendencies as part of our personality structure. Like with all personality traits, it’s kind of a spectrum. I was missing this aspect in your video. It came across a bit fingerpointy, without giving back the acknowledge that we all are narcs to some degree imho. I’m worried that without such acknowledgement of „the evil“ in oneself, we’re pushing stereotyping more and more forward, which will lead to more blaming, dividing and raging. Anyway, sry for the rambling. As always your video was quite entertaining and thought provoking. Also I really liked the editing on this one. So thanks man!
there’s a difference between having narcissistic personality traits and having NPD tho. it seems like the video was example after example of why trump is a narcissist/has npd vs has narcissistic traits. he laid out the reasoning for why with the childhood trauma and quotes from his mother. people have narcissistic traits but like he said in the beginning of the video althought narcissism is thrown around a lot in conversations today only 1% of people of people actually have npd. this video is explaining why trump is in that 1% not just another person w narcissistic traits
As the guy above already explained pretty well, it’s not about people being generally self-centered or egoistic sometimes. Narcissism is more like a deeper rooted mental disfunction (or trauma) than a character trait or mood. The video is not very blaming in my opinion, as Sisyphus explains pretty well the childhood upbringing that caused this behavior.
I mean, he devotes a section of the video to handling the "universality" of narcissism as per the Melville quote. I'm not sure I totally get it myself, but it seems like the gist is that we all have an idealized self that we want to achieve, that we all want to earn (legitimate) praise. The difference between that and an actual narcissist is that the narcissist devotes themselves to maintaining the fiction that they've earned praise and status when they have not.
Dude normal people have what we call "Healthy Narcissism" aka self love and respect. Its on a continuum, but NPD is that of a pathalogical sense. Its so extreme, pathological, and malevolent. Healthy narcissism is no where near NPD. Dont use this as an excsuse to do Narcisstic things. Many narcissists will use that as an argument to control ur wellbeing
looking at the thumbnail: ah, its just another dumb clickbait vid reading his channel name: "oh thy great content, get dumped in my non-specific knowledge dump"
“He has no guiding force”. That’s what makes him so dangerous. He loves whoever loves him. So, pretend to love him and he’ll back whatever awful plan you have. Just ask Putin.
Summary: There is nothing great behind the greatness but a bottomless black hole of all-consuming selfish need. His lifelong behaviours would have caused anyone with any semblance of a conscience to feel remorse. He has none. He is an empty box.
Well said. A black hole of a being (can't call him human, there's no humanity in him.) He just takes and takes and gives nothing but hate and paranoia. Can't call him a man, there's no manhood in him.
That’s because his emotional needs were not met as a child. He also inherited the genetics of psychopathic parents. He was doomed to be an empty box from the day he was born.
The new OCD. The world has learned a little about narcissism so of course every ex BF/GF is a narcissist immediately. Its just not that common, and is destructive to either any success or most often interpersonal relationships. It is so far beyond self-centeredness or somebody with confidence, that you don’t like.
@@npc1172 when you actually see the real thing in a psych hospital, its nothing like people think it is. OCD is completely irrational, and not even remotely related to being a person that likes things nice and neat. These people are literally on the brink of complete panic, if they don’t tap the door 14 times before moving past it. They KNOW it is irrational, but they can’t help it. Same with ADHD. When you see a 6 year old vibrating in a chair, who can barely even complete a sentence without getting distracted......its like, “Oh, damn.”
@@Deeplycloseted435 the neat freak thing is what drives me insane about it most of the time like you said it’s something irrational like if I don’t tap something such and such could happen. There’s a lot of shame involved in the little rituals people with it go through too. That’s been my experience with it. It’s definitely not fun and defies all logic.
Yeah I've noticed an uptick in using the word... Id argue that ppl who they call narcissists are actually either mean or at most, displaying lack of emotion (sociopathy or psychopathy) which is way more common of a disorder
I once heard a psychologist say that narcissists are among the very *last* people who will ever seek professional help. By their very nature, they need no help and are presumably smarter than the professionals.

I really appreciate this eye opening video!
Those who underwent narc treatment in the young age would either cope with the harm by becoming a narc themselves, or would have to work on themselves later in adulthood to develop qualities that were underdeveloped naturally. Guess, which path is easier? And which path promisses more 'success' in moder society?

At about the 10 minute mark I realized that I was watching a video about narcissists and not that I was listening to a therapist give me an explanation of my life.
I started off with low self esteem and Interestingly I picked up some narcissistic personality traits during rough times as a defense mechanism and once the rough times were over I discarded most of these traits. I'd say that I came out with healthy amounts of self esteem. But still kinda low.

Um, why do people expect others to tell them what they should and shouldn't be doing? Why do people rely on the government so much? What ever happened to personal responsibility? People who want big governments are scared of being responsible for themselves. Besides, he did try to take steps to prevent it from coming here directly from China but they called him a xenophobe. We are about to go through some very dark times in regards to the economy. Inflation is already here and we're going to have to find a way to pay back all the trillions of dollars being printed from thin air. Suicide rates are increasing because people have lost jobs and their homes. Do you prefer people to die because of a virus (with a 98%+ recovery rate), or by suicide, hunger, and homelessness because of an economic crisis? An economic crisis would negatively effect 98%+ of people, while Covid-19 negatively affects just a few percent. The only advice I can give right now is to make sure you have all your ducks in a row for the dark times ahead. They're coming.
One more thing. According to the CDC, 78% percent of people who were hospitalized or died from Covid-19 were overweight and obese. This means that Covid-19 is not nice to people who don't take care of their bodies, yet I still see long lines of people at the drive-thru of McDonald's. When will people start taking personal responsibility for their own health? The vast majority of Covid-19 deaths could have been prevented if people would have put a little more effort into leading a healthier lifestyle. But again, personal responsibility is a thing of the past. People need someone or something to blame in order to make themselves feel better about their own shortcomings...
@Rotary Man Trump needs a lesson in how to care for his body too! Americans have such bad diets these days. And I'm not "fat shaming". I'm stating facts, which seem to be offensive to some. If I was fat and my doctor or a concerned family member told me I needed to lose weight, I would NOT assume they were shaming me. People need to get a grip on reality.
I always found it fascinating how Trump wanted to do something else in life but was crushed into the family mold, whereas Freddy Jr. followed his dreams of aviation and was summarily discarded and died early of alcoholism. Hurt people hurt people I guess.
I feel sad for Donald Trump. He grew up in an environment that could only guarantee this outcome, and he is trapped in such a darkness that I cannot even imagine. He could have been great, but was instead doomed to fall into a labyrinth of darkness that is so, so difficult to escape, or even to see some flicker of light far away. I hope that he can one day escape the labyrinth, one day finally see some light… and one day, have light within himself. When he enters the labyrinth that is the Courts of the United States of America, he will have endless opportunities to exit… but he will not take the exit paths, instead hoping for some semblance of victory within the legal labyrinth, and the paths that he takes there will, too, be shrouded in darkness. He needs to choose to accept what he has coming for him, rather than trying to get non-existent victory, if he ever wishes to escape the labyrinth of darkness he is trapped in. And once he exits, he will have to blindly trust in someone who can guide him out of the darkness, and that will be very difficult for him to do.
Oh god you’re the embodiment of all Sisyphus viewers. Armchair intellects. Trump ain’t facing shit in court, nor is he suffering from great darkness. He’s living lavishly and laughing as his time of being a chess piece for the new age is over. Don’t feel sorry for him. Feel sorry for yourself and everybody here thinking they know better than the former president of the free world
You can rightfully feel sad for the child that he once was, but you also can choose whether or not to have compassion and empathy for the monster that he now is. As for your hope that he “sees the light” and finds light within himself? As for the hope that one day he gets treatment for his personality disorder and accepts that his prior behaviors were wrong? Sadly, that is a fanciful wish, a dream that could not come true...for narcissists at his age and at his mental state have very little hope of ever gaining the capacity for empathy and compassion. Narcissists have little hope of gaining the capacity for genuine remorse and accepting that they have committed wrongdoing. They have very little hope of developing an authentic human self, for they are set in their ways and are blind to self improvement.
