Something to keep in mind is that the appeals will be decided after the election, and he will be more likely to get a fair hearing if he loses, though perhaps not if he wins.
The case was based on financial crimes (felonies) in New York, by the NYC DA… this IS NOT a Federal case. It is a State Funded New York Case… Trump lived and worked in New York at the time he committed these 34 felonies.
It’s called states rights. And county and city rights. The law has always been that the place where the crime occurred is the place where it should be tried particularly if the crime affects the people who live there.
I am one of those persons from the outside world looking in on the US political and judicial system. I would say I follow these matters pretty closely. And even so I can stop being amazed with how much you have simply lost your way. This podcast is one of those examples. That you are debating if the criminal conviction of Trump - in what honestly looks like a crystal clear case - will affect the upcoming election is just astonishing and scary. In the rest of the democratic world Trumps campaign would be totally over with this conviction. Actually even just lying would end your political career in my country. You have a candidate with a real chance of winning that tells obvious lies on a daily basis, has tried to change the result of the previous election, is convicted for sexual assault, is convicted of financial crimes in two separate cases and has now been convicted of fraud with respect to covering purpose of payments in order to help his election in 2016. Not to mention the 3 other cases running which also seems very solid. Not to mention drinking bleach against Covid, and you could just go on and on. And this guy has a real chance of winning the next election. Its just wrong. And so many smart people in the political system and media just plays along and supports him by repeating his obvious lies and sowing distrust for the judicial system. The reason he got convicted is because he did something wrong. It is that simple. And he did it intentionally. That surely should disqualify him in the eyes of the voters, politicians and media. But no - not anymore in the US. You guys have really lost your moral compass.
Simply following US political and judicial dramas has little to with objectivity and impartiality. Your one-sided talking points reveal your very evident bias. Immorality does not have a political bias, not human boundaries, it evident in our reality everywhere.
@@kevinhill6210 I totally admit to being very bias towards being on the side of truthfulness and law & order. This has nothing to do with politics. It is simply about having a standard that any candidate ought to live up to. And even lying is crossing my boundaries. And he does that all the time. That is not a matter of interpretation, it is a fact. So many of his lies are so easily fact checked. But I think that Americans somehow has become immune to this. You should not in my opinion. It is not a matter of red and blue, but simply if Trump as a candidate has the right moral fibre to be a candidate. And then reject him if he dont - no matter which side you are on.
Biden is no less a blatant liar. Your half truth is a deception. Consider being honest with yourself and others by completing your truth journey with equal distain for both parties. If don't be fair you are simply deceiving yourself with a single minded intention to draw attention to one and not the other. All people have lied and committed sins. None of us are perfect. Neither of us are qualified to judge perfectly and righteously. I must admit and realize I am often a hypocrite too. I am ashamed when I insist to and do.
You're entitled to opine, however you're not a JD, nor a specialist in constitutional law. Leave it to those of us who are qualified in the state of NY.
@@carob6977 Sorry, but I dont get your comment. Isnt that exactly what I am doing? I trust the trial where he just got convicted was fair. I am not the one arguing that the trial or verdict is wrong in any way. Secondly what I am saying is that Trump simply doesnt have the right character to be a leader. Its not a judicial assessment, but a political/moral one.
