Updated December 14, 2017 On December 5, the Trump administration took its first major step toward allowing employers to legally pocket the tips earned by the workers they employ. The Department of Labor (DOL) released a proposed rule that would allow restaurants to take the tips that servers earn and share them with untipped employees such as cooks and dishwashers.1 But, crucially, the rule doesn’t actually require that employers distribute “pooled” tips to workers. Under the administration’s proposed rule, as long as tipped workers earn minimum wage, employers could legally pocket those tips.

There are so many times our income is taxed it's fuckin retarded. The fact that our forefathers started a revolution over a 2 percent tax and now we're paying almost 50 percent tax after income is taxed, then property is taxed, purchased items are taxed and then taxed again when sold more than once, insurance is taxed on purchased items and the people selling insurance are taxed on their income and so on. Yes… we have that in Canada too. Generally it’s about 15-20% that is taxed at the end of the year. What Trump is doing is incredibly smart.

Restaurants can now afford to not have to pay a competitive wage which means both employee and employers WIN because both won't have to worry about it being tax.
