I was really trying to be optimistic about Trump, I thought he could actually be a great president if he simply became less delusional and accepted truth and fact. In such a short amount of time, my optimism has collapsed, him and his administration are so insanely delusional it's scary. We've often seen delusional politicians in the past, who have become much more reasonable when elected, but this is different. I can't imagine what will happen when his administration makes a really big mistake, will he just deny it happened? Will he blame it on a scapegoat? Will he even try to correct it? Will he blockade the media from releasing the truth labeling as "lies"? I'm growing more and more concerned in a very short period of time.

With Russia, there is risk of being a puppet, allowing Russian interference in everyday American life, or letting Russia get away actions we would otherwise find inexcusable. When Russia invades neighbors or tests missiles, are we supposed to look the other way because they are our ally? We don't have to be enemies, but we shouldn't be as close as Trump is trying to make us.

As a staunch democrat and liberal, I've been trying to wrap my head around this very concept myself. It seems clear that, even republicans aren't agreeing with much of what he says. Trump fans seem to be the "unheard masses"; the ones who lost jobs (because of what they've been led to believe is due to manufacturing being shipped "overseas" (not understanding that automakers moved operations to Mexico) *OR* that foreign workers are coming in to take their jobs (when most foreign workers come in to take jobs Americans _won't_ do - like pick vegetables and fruit - or toil in restaurant kitchens at insane hours for miniscule pay.) These are also people who feel socially pressured by "political correctness". They've become terrified of saying the wrong thing or calling someone by the wrong race/ethnicity/gender. It is a cognitive dissonance to people who don't handle dissonance well, especially that involving the brain. (I say this with a bit of sympathy because I work with one.) Hope that helps.

EnoVarma I understand your concern totally. It seems very wrong; making fun of these horrifying things that have so many people scared seems apathetic. But often in times of immense stress, like slavery, war, economic crisis, etc., people lean on humor to make it through. It's a coping mechanism or an emotional survival skill. It's also a way to get the message to people who recoil from business-like discussion on politics. It's not how everyone handles this tough time, but it really does help some people (like me) 😊.

I get what you're saying, but the media are treating Trump's behavior as "entertainment" to ILLUSTRATE that he is a JOKE. There's certainly NOTHING funny about his behavior. It's frightening and worrying..but oftentimes humor is used as a means to cope with and deal with situations of great concern. We laugh about it to ease the stress of this reality.
