Pimpnite demonstrated a work around for the two on one matchup. With an explosion vultorb and endure tatsugiri holding a flame orb. In short, you get tatsugiri down to one health in first round using voltorbs explosion, then send in dondozo. The tatsugiri still jumps in dondozo’s mouth, but faints thanks the the burn from the flame orb, thus allowing you to send in another Pokémon to take its normal position on the field while still giving dondozo the stat boost when he uses order up.
If you give Tatsugirir a toxic orb so its poisoned, then switch in your dondozo, you can keep **all** the benefits of keeping it after it faints from poison damage (including order up boost) and switch in a pokemon. Also of Dondozo has unaware or that crystal amulet it it should allow you to keep your boosts.
Yeah as it's actual stay boosts as far as I can tell, however this also means it doubles any stats gained from IV's and Ev's invested into said stats so it's better for stats that aren't hp.
@@leightontreharne9134 Except it doesn't double the base attack stat. Huge Power and Pure Power work the same way as the Thick Club does for Cubone and Marowak. For example, a level 50 Azumarill's attack stat with max EVs and IVs and an Adamant Nature would be 112. With Huge Power, that makes Azumarill's attack stat @ level 50 224
Best strat for this team is to have the tatsugiri hold a toxic orb (so it gets poisoned) and have it use the move endure. Then have a fast pokemon with choice scarf use explosion to reduce tatsugiri's hp to 1 (because endure let's it live the hit). Then swap dondozo in for the fainted explosion user and the tatsugiri hops in it's mouth then faints the following turn. Dondozo gets to keep the stat boosts while you get to swap in a support pokemon (preferably one with follow me and wide guard). You are then back to playing a 2 on 2, with the notable acception of Dondozo keeping it's buffs and the support pokemon stoping the opponents from removing said buffs.
In competitive pokemon its like once you know the go to strategy or move set everyone will copy and roll the same forcing a stalemate or simply the first to move is the winner by default.
Fun fact, tatsugiri, even if it's inside of dondozo mouth, can still recieve damage from a status effect like toxic or burn. So, if low health with one of these effects, it can faint and let another pokemon in while dondozo still keeps the whole boost
You can Run tatsugiri with the Toxic orb, thus he dies after he gives Dondozo the stat buff, allowing you to keep the stat buffed Dondozo and letting you use another Pokémon
Glimmora will likely be a lot better once the paradox forms are legal in VGC, because it’s typing lines up very well against the good ones. Will likely do a video on it then :)
easy, just slap a focus sash on it, dont use it in doubles cause theyll just ignore it till its the last mon, use mortal spin earth power and stealth rocks, last move is open oh and obviously toxic debris
WolfyVGC did a strategic where his tatsugiri holding a toxic orb would use endure, while the partner pkmn would attack the tatsugiri, that way when you get the dondozo out and it doubles its stats, the tatsugiri would die the next turn allowing you to send out another pokemon
There is also one more strategy In a Double battle your first Two Pokemon be electrode and Tatsugiri electrode will use explode and Tatsugiri who is holding toxic orb Will use enduar (this moves always go first and will make Pokemon survive the first turn no matter what at 1 Hp ) now your Dondozo will Come out and that's Tatsugiri Who is probably at 1hp will be toxic and die now you can send out flamingo to copy his starts
If tatsu dies dondozo keeps the stat boosts. So you can use explosion and endure to get tatsu to 1 HP while holding a toxic orb. Then put dondozo in. And after tatsu dies you can put in something like Flamigo or something with psyche up to copy dondozo’s boosts
Endure + toxic orb/flame orb sets work extremely well… especially with flamigo on the switch in to copy all of dondozo boosts… so now you have 2 Pokémon with doubled stats…
There's a strategy that with a specific setup the tatsiguri goes into dondozos mouth and faints, allowing you to switch in a flamingo and now you have 2 double Omni boosted Mon from the price of losing half your team
Tip give your tatsugiri a toxic orb so that it can die while still allowing the other Mon to keep it's +2 at all stats If you pair it up with the flamingo pokemon with it's HA it gets a +2 when it comes in as well
Commander doesnt boost the base stats. It boosts the overall stats by two stages, like Extreme Evoboost does. This means factors such as EVs, IVs, Nature are also factored into calculation as Dodonzo gets boosted. Also HP doesnt get doubled.
There is a op version of this where you explosion with any scarf pokemon (most people use driffblim) endure with tatsugiri and toxic orb so when dondozo swiches in and protects you have a mega op dondozo with a hidden ability flamigo to have 2 pokemon with double omi boost its broken
Maybe not a tournament but competitive it's good Also if the enemy isn't expecting it It's 100% better instead of having 1 pokemon Imagine have 2 double omi boost pokemon in a field at once
I recently had an opponent who did something to poison their tatsugiri, who eventually died inside the whale, then they sent out flamigo who copied the stat changes
One use of haze and all those buffs are gone. Made someone rage quit at the beginning of a match. Palafin used haze and it was over. Before I took donsozo down he quit
Use poison orb or flame orb on tatsugiri so it will die then use a flamigo and when your enemy has an espathra on the field and it copies the stat boost just use an ohko move
In a pimpnite video he uses a trick with endure and flame orb to kill the little fish while he's in dondoza to get the boost and throw out another pokemon
Try using tatsugiri with a toxic orb and endure and just exploshion or final gambit to bring it to 1hp (tox dam doesnt happen first turn) then your tatsugiri dies next turn and you get 2v2 again. bring in a indeede use order up and healing wish with indeede right away to Flamigo with coster physic seed and acrobatics and copy dondozos boost automatedly and you have a stab 110 flying move.
You can kill tatsugiri while it's in dondozo by having it poisoned with a toxic orb, this allows you to keep the stat buff AND send out a second pokemon to keep up the fight
Wolfey's toxic orb final gambit endure the tatsugiri then bring out dondozo tatsugiri dies in dondozos mouth after boosting the stats and order up still works with boosting and then he brings on flamigo with costar to get dondozos stat buffs
Pimpnite was able to make it so tatsiguri endures a shot to 1 hp, switch in dondozo, and tatsiguri jump into its mouth, but KO itself with a flame orb. The game gets confused and let's another mon join without dondozo losing its buff. Idk if that'll be fixed in game or banned competitively but it's interesting
This strat is also fun to play vs as skill swap gothitelle. A lot are running endure/toxic orb tatsugiri with final gambit annihilape. If you skill swap tatsu, he no longer has commander and dozo doesn't get omniboist
hold flame orb on Tatsugiri and use endure on the first turn, then switch the other Pokémon with Dondozo, now Don will get the boost and Tatsu will faint then you can switch other Pokémons in, its absolutely broken
My favorite game I played against a dondozo is I encored it into substitute and taunted it then used trick to give it choice specs. Then I proceeded to set up in its face. GG
