These looks is really enticing.😮 ❤, just need a flagship version of this under 400$ , with those A and B buttoms as Mode switch and Eq. With a display.
Hi Andy great review again. You give a great score this dac. Will the allegro neutralish sound tune works well if pair with shozy p20 Again great review & rock on 🎉
Hello Bro Andy Please rank #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6 #1 = the best #6 = the worst ✅ Ibasso DC 03 Pro ✅ Ibasso DC 05 ✅ Kiwi Ears Allegro ✅ Tanchjim Space Lite ✅ Moondrop Dawn Pro ✅ EPZ TP 20 Pro Thank you Bro Andy 🙏👍
Thank you for the review mate. The battery number you posted is it for 4.4mm ? Would really appreciate if you could post the battery number of 3.5mm in low gain as most people buying these dongle DACs uses that 😅 Thank you again, love your videos.
Thanks. Yes I always measure on the endurance from 4.4 BAL, and that should be the reasons to get these type of dongles because you want 100% from them, using 3.5mm is like you get only 50% what you paid for. Unless of course you running super sensitive IEMs
hi uncle andy, love your reviews! i just bought EPZ Q1 Pro which in my opinion has a deficiencies in its bass, sound separation, and sound staging. I would like to improve those things and have my eyes on kiwi ears allegro, shanling ua1 plus, and moondrop dawn pro. My question is what DAC should i buy? and for context i will plug the DAC to my laptop to play music and game. The type of music i listened a lot right now is rock like the doors, pink floyd, and led zeppelin and also another genre and artist such as daft punk and kpop as well.
Thanks. And please just Andy, don't call me uncle, I don't want to die just yet haha 😂 Between the three you mentioned, Allegro is what I would recommend for your needs
Allergo is one of them. As for PD+, Dawn Pro and TP20, I have tested them extensively and they are on equal footing with sound quality, technicalities. Just mild differences in timbre presentation, so you can't go wrong with any one of them
Hi Andy, I just found your channel and love your work, man! I'm new in the audio world and just trying to learn, so thank you (49 years old in Thailand)🙏 I love listening to Tool, Puscifer, A Perfect Circle, God is and Astronaut... Heavy moody rock mostly. I use Tidal Music and have a Redmi 11s phone, Tangzu Wan 'er and Samson SR 80. Just ordered KZ AM01 and Spinfit eartips. What upgrades would you go for next, for my musical taste? What you think of Hifiman H400 SE? Want open back headphones. What IEMs and portable DAC would match well for my taste? Fancy Truthear Crinical Red. Thank you again. You rock in a bkack metal kind of way haha 🙏❤️
Thanks! 🤘 So you already have Wan'Er SG and I believe you like it yes. If you looking to scale up from that point onwards, then I would highly recommend something like SIVGA Nighthingale which is my personal favorite IEM which I use the most. And it is absolutely mind blowing smooth and airy for Rock/Metal. On top of it, you will need proper dongle to run it to the fullest potential, Allegro is one of those dongles that you can consider (not limited to that of course). HiFiMan HE400SE? I have one and I would say that it does sounding a bit metallic with the timbre but it resolves very well with details - I would say that you should check my video review on Takstar HF580 if you want something a bit more organic sounding. Cheers
Thanks!. If you don't mind longer cables, have a look at my video on Magtame cables, especially for desktop usage. Or you can look for iBasso CB18 which I personally use too. But the ones that came with this Allegro is already really good, and seems to be shielded too so using it as it is would be worth it
Hello Andy! Are we gonna hope soon for a review of Akliam PD5 please or move on with Colorfly M1P? I hope to have a review of PD5 so as to catch up for the discount of Ali. Thanks you!
The PD5 is using the same configuration as other dongles which sound more like hi-fi sound. I think it will be another ak4493 that will not sound with the characteristics of the AKM chips
@@Saturno_R1 PD5 uses the same dac as the M1P, so I am thinking of the same sound as Colorfly, but improved to the details such as technics and the weight.
@@Nordi1_0745 The same chip used in Shanling UA3 and Jcally AP90 including amplification chips. I have the impression that they use the same PCB as the ap90
Hi, Andy. Thank you for the review, was eyeing this one since they announced it, because of the design. It's good to know they sound great too! Will be saving up for this one. I'm curious, are there any DAC around the price range of Allegro with wider soundstage?
My pleasure. Wider soundstage at this price range? I would say DC04Pro has it and so does AKLIAM PD4+, but don't expect like day and night wide differences because Allegro is commendably open sounding nonetheless
Would you say this is the most natural sounding of the slightly less compact Dacs? If so, I might consider getting it as it seems to be so much better than the Abigail Pro.
The most natural sounding? I will mention some of them (and not limited to). The foremost being HIBY FC6 and Questyle M12i, the there's also Aune Yuki, EPZ TP30 and iBasso DC04Pro. And of course this Allegro too
Taking into account that low-end doongle DACs sound dirtier, such as 7hz 71, how is it in cleanliness or clarity vs space or dew 4x, taking into account that having two chips reduces distortion?
For you 71 sounds dirty? to my own experience, dual DAC dongles can be noisy as well. But as far as I can tell, this Allegro like many other current releases are super clean with black background even with highly sensitive partners
firstly thanks a lot for many reviews about dongle, then i want to ask about: 1. why Fiio Q15 that just reviewed not listed on gdocs donglemadness? 2. what is your recommendation dongle for widest staging and imaging (3D holographic not only left or right)? thank you
Thanks. Q15 is not a dongle, It has battery and runs BT too. #donglemadness is reserved for portable DAC/Amps that are dependent on host power to operate. Widest staging? DC04Pro, Cayin RU7, L&P W4 among some of them, there are more but those are on top of my head now
All three of them are already transparent and realistic with instrument tonality, they are all tuned to be neutral. The differences, DC04Pro has a bit more of air to the transients and Allegro offer denser tone, Space is somewhere in between those two. They all are already very good performing dongles
@donglemadness thanks.. another question. I have several dongles... but i like the sound of the tempotec bhdpro. How come when i use deezer the dongle does not light up for flac output?
@@donglemadnessI like acoustic sounds more than fully electronic ... and probably need more power with my near future headphones .. What would suit me between allegro, dawn pro and ds2
@@sumanthparakala2005 If you can stretch it to $110, then EPZ TP50 is what I will recommend, a dongle I use personally and superior than DS2, Allegro or DS2. Otherwise, all three of them are on equal footing with sound/power
Etymotic are outright flat, especially ER4 series or SR/SE series. So, if you want to determine the timbre nature of the sources, you use Etymotic to hear the differences. In this example, my ER2XR (DD) is a bit more analog/less metallic sounding than the 4 series (BA), but it is transparent to reveal the nature of the sources, you connect ER2XR to a digital sounding DAC/Amp, you get digital sounding output, you connect to an analog sounding DAC/Amp, you get analog sounding output - that's the beauty of Etys
