Got this DS2 on sale for $38. Sound quality is as good as I expect (clean, clear and accurate). There are some sonic improvements (not night-and-day differences) over the sort of 10$ dongles I've used but the most important factor is compatibility. DS2 has no issue with whatever kind of devices I plugged it into, while KZ AM01 works well with Android phones and some PCs but emits hissing noises with some others. That is the most significant downside of ultra cheap dongles today.
just received yesterday your fevourite iem Tanchjim Zero .... sounds so natural so beautiful, thanks again ANDY your choice is top-notch, now confused between EPZ TP50 OR FIIO KA17, watching your those two videos back to back daily 2 or 3 times to better understand the differences
Just got the penon Don't go back that you reviewed a while back and it's great got it to replace my Hdiz s3pro. But still have my Shanling UA4 you reviewed and recommended... You're going to cost me an arm and a leg
After iems, now dac/amps are getting better and better at budget prices! I didn't see Dawn Pro in the comparison list. It has the same drivers and similar price (a bit cheaper).
I can't fit so many things in that list, over 160 dongles and you can see where DAWN Pro is at here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eKvWteIUUp61kpZcjRSxVI6NtllHzVos/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=112460069217171938319&rtpof=true&sd=true
@@donglemadness Most dac/amps are expensive. Only a few provide great value at budget price. I do visit this list every now and then. I believe you are working on an iem list too, which would be wonderful!
Thank you for the detailed review of the Fosi DS2. It seems a bit strange that Fosi didn't make a bit of a name change after no longer using the ESS ES9018K2M chip set? In your opinion was this due to mfg. cost, supply, or product improvement? From your reviews I have half a dozen dongles matched to various headphones 🎧 Glad to see you are feeling better, take care!
Thanks. I think yes, by keeping the chassis/build the same, they could have save a lot of $ to keep the price highly affordable, it makes sense. I am feeling better now. Cheers
Thanks alot 👍🏻 i like your subjective review i thinking to ifi go blu because of Bluetooth and wiring because variety i wish to see it grade in your comparing table. ✔️ Good job keep doing great reviews i am learning from you
@@donglemadness Thanks for the insight. I feel helped at this time by the options available. I still don't feel like spending more money on a DAC. I still have an idea between Moondrop Dawn Pro, Shanling UA1 Plus, EPZ TP20, EPZ TP 20 pro, Fosi DS2 2023... Maybe I will wait a little longer for the DS2 2024 version to enter Indonesia. Hopefully the price is still close to the previous option.
Hey Andy can you please tell me that how will be the combination of VE Abigail pro with Tanchjim Zero because i want a cheap but good dac for my Tanchjim zero
Hi Andy great review ! I'm confused between these , ibasso dc04pro and the tempotec bhd Got 2 slight power hungry iems one is a planar and one multi driver set , which one would you recommend. Also noticed you mentioning ibasso doing wonders in a wider soundstage that would be a boon for me !
Don't know about ds2 but my ds1 if you press both vol buttons at the same time the led changes color indicating the different gain mode. I belive this should have same feature.
@@donglemadness mine is about 6 months old. When preesing both at same time does not work. 1st press 1, and right after the 2nd and hold for few secondes. Or maybe 2nd rev not have this function
You can have a look at the full rating list here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eKvWteIUUp61kpZcjRSxVI6NtllHzVos/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=112460069217171938319&rtpof=true&sd=true
DS2 has more air and smooth decays, more organic, frontal Mids, FC4 is less musical, more technical and crisper edged, less air. DC04Pro is like a wider sounding DS2, faithfully neutral and transparent
No worries, I am not taking new orders now until I have shipped batch 3. You can keep track of AAV orders here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ePUuA50qwPHdYdhTuWof0WnUumyGgfVj/edit#gid=417349013
If you have an older iPhone which uses Lightning, then you will need a Lightning to USB C cable to use this dongle. Once connected it should be working fine, but I recommend you check with the manufacturer if their dongle are compatible with iPhones. I don't have iPhone so I don't know for sure
Hello, Andy. Currently on an RU7 running Hifiman headphones. Really great, although at times it feels like it's too technical, too spaced out and expansive. Like I have to push myself to listen for macro-detail. What's something that has some warmth or even some extra bass that is easy and pleasant to listen to? I was thinking maybe the RU6 or the DC04 Pro.
