I'm sorry to hear that you had problem with the Ka11, dear Andy. I got one for my iphone about one month ago and it works perfectly, but I didn't upgrade to the new firmware. To be honest with you, I didn't even know that there was a new firmware. At this point, I think that I won't make any updates. "If ain't broke don't fix it", you know. Thank you as ever. I bought the KA 11 and i have absolute no issues with it. Tidal works,UAPP works and on PC Win 11 Pro works flawless. Also the Fiio app works well on Android.I have Xiaomi 13 phone. Perhaps is something wrong with your unit...It heats up but not on a extreme level. Similatr to the Ifi GoLink. maibe a bit more but nothing to worry about.
I appreciate you sharing this. The heat issue was also my problem with the 7Hz 71. Once it got too hot, it would get a static popping. I retired it, and have been using other gear. I recently ordered the KA17, and am looking forward to it.
I have Fiio KA11 too. i have experienced this weird issues where i plugged in the USB c and found out that the DAC AMP is experiencing on and off thing. BUT, the fix was not the amplifier software itself but the power it gets from the device used.. (in my opinion). FIIO KA11 works on low power devices, Ive been using this on my Thieaudio Hype4 recently, also KZ ZS10 pro X and even ZSN pro including Senny's HD 600 and 600s. it works, But the heat, it just cannot be solved. THE FIX WAS TO INCLUDE AN ADAPTER FOR ITS PLUG, MAYBE AN OTG USB C TO USB A OR USB C TO USB C or maybe a combination of both USB C TO USB A and USB A TO USB C. i know kinda dumb idea but it works for me
I've had no problems with connectivity on my android version. I love the sound & power from the small form factor. It does get hot but I'm not going to attempt the firmware update. Hopefully, fiio will come up with a solution soon
I hoped ka11 will be a budget banger but no it is int and Andy saved us ... if issues fixed sooner or later please make your dongle madness style video.. I almost decided to buy it in 1st week of April ..
That is very disappointing seeing as I love Fiio products. All my DAC amps are Fiio and luckily have all worked perfectly for me. Hopefully Fiio will issue a fix soon or a complete replacement. Good luck sir!
im still using it but i have not upgrade the firmware since I got it. already heard about the updates issues way back. i really like it its powerful used it few times it does heats up maybe because of its power.
It's something to do with developer #2 Sound engine of system firmware of smartphone with usb dac configuration, for instance I'm using Xiaomi Poco X6 Pro Which has Got 3 sound otm - Dolby , Xiaomi Immersion and Original and System bypass through UAPP and Hiby app won't help with Streaming services. It's like a bug
Mine works about half the time with my s24 ultra. Some days it will blink its light when plugged in one way, i flip the usbc and no light. Both times the phone shows 'usb device connected'. Other days it just works. It always works on my s7 tablet though. I have tried restarting the s24, turning it off completely, nothing seems to work except waiting some undeterminate amount of time, at least hours
I used to love FiiO products as well but their firmware and customer support sucks. So far I've had: KA3 - gave it away as it picks up loads of interference, BTR7 - firmware was buggy and unstable even after updates, K7 - became an expensive paper weight because support literally ghosted me. It has an issue with volume dropping to 0 and going back up intermittently. 3 strikes for FiiO in my book.
Saya guna di s24 ultra cuma 2x sahaja dan lepas tu terus senyap dan tiada sambungan..yang pelik nya saya cuba 3 jenis handphone yang berlainan,ianya berkerja dengan baik pula. Puas cari solusi di dalam phone s24 tetapi tetap tiada sambungan.. jalan buntu sehingga malam ini..baru beli.. Adakah pihak fiio akan buat sesuatu? Alatan ini bagi saya sudah cukup baik dan sesuai untuk menunggang motor sambil Layan lagu,ermmmm sedih.. Fiio..sedih

@@donglemadness That'd be nice, because my aux input is a little glitchy. I cleaned it but still has some balancing problems on different volume levels
hmmm i guess the issues are all on android? its my first FIIO product that i bought and chose the lightning version (IPHONE USER) just plug and play, tho the heating part is there
I would say just be wary of the risk, I think if you are not having issues now, you should wait for more recent updates which I think FiiO will release
Ive seen people say its getting extremely hot when used. No surprise with that tiny form factor and that amount of power tbh. Its a matter of time that thing will be fried
How about BTR15? When i connect it to TIDAL exclusive mode, only MQA files are working properly. When i play HiRes 24-bit and 16-bit? No playback or sometimes very low output where you barely hear anything. BTR15 also has random disconnection even using UAPP and Neutron app. I'm using LG G8 before and now Sony Xperia 1 ii but the issue still the same
@@donglemadness yes bro, that's what i thought and already told FiiO about this issue. I thought the issue is the cable so i bought a new cable but still same issue on my LG and Sony phone both A12. But now i use it to my old Samsung A8 2018 running A10 and looks okay. No sudden disconnection. So i think the issue was with compatibility on the phone system maybe
@@donglemadness firmware v 0.04. - In exclusive mode in UAPP volume is to the max and You can't lower it. In non exclusive mode (Direct) works great and volume is adjustable. - When using android driver (Spotify) dongle works good, maybe that is why iphone users don't have problems (when using phone OS drivers). - As for heat I feel that should be expected with 200mW in a small case. If I unplug the headphones or DAC and replug it right away DAC is not reccognized, but after cca 15 minutes of waiting while being unpluged it is recognized and working again. 🤨🤔 After your video I won't be updating to v 0.08. seems to me they're more worried about sales and releasing products at super fast pace (for the same reason) than actually releasing fully functioning, tried and tested products. Recently it seems every product they release makes the customers beta testers.

Didn't have much time to compare closely before my KA11 started to malfunction. I can say the overall sound tuning is similar to KA13 and DAWN Pro, being linear neutral and well balanced, which is a very good thing
@@donglemadness now a serious question as QC of Ka11 might be bad. Is spending a bit more for dwan pro is better option than getting Ka11. As I like the form factor of Abigail etc. Because it's just like a extension of wire.
@@donglemadness i received KA11 today. It has no issue. It gets warm like 7hz 71. Sound is good. Should I keep it or return it and get dawn pro. Btw mine Ka11 shipped with stock 0.08 firmware. And it detected nicely.
