David Wise was a musical genius. To be able to create such incredible songs in the DKC. Almost every song is memorable and incredible

Both Stickerbrush Symphony and Forest Interlude are my favorite music of DKC2 so calming and relaxing

It's a little upsetting that video game music doesn't really get the same recognition from people that mainstream music does. There's of course a lot to unpack with that statement, but ultimately my point is that I feel like even with the love David Wise got for these soundtracks, they still were not appreciated enough. This music is quite literally some of the most original, creative, and catchy music I've ever heard in my life.

Checkpoint: Monday, October 10th, 2022: I don’t like posting about my life, but I need to get this out of my chest one way or another. It’s nearing the end of 1st quarter in my junior year of highschool. Things have been rough for the past couple of months..me and my two family members I live with had to move out since the house we were renting and living in for 9 years was being sold to someone. So we had to move to a different city to my father’s now ex girlfriend’s place. Stuff was ok for a little while, but eventually she got so upset to the point where she was doing all kinds of things that were kinda crazy(not going deep into it-). One night she even assaulted my father, while my sibling call the police, getting her arrested that night. The next morning we quickly moved right out of there, and went to my grandmas. I thought that this was gonna be better than the other place we were in. Boy how I was wrong.. The next couple of weeks, not even a month in, and my grandmother became mean, hateful, and absolutely absurd towards us. She was acting just like my father described her in his childhood. I even hear her tell my father how much she regrets birthing him, and her insulting my brother as well. However she doesn’t talk like that towards me often, which hurts me more because I have to witness and hear her doing these things to my other family members while I’m unharmed… However, me, and my two other family members are still holding on. And we’re not gonna give up, especially when some dirty hag tries to kick us down into the dirt. To anyone reading this, if something terrible or bad is going on in your life, even if it seems like you’ll never find a way out of it, I want you to remember this and never for get it. **Never give up. Keep moving forward, and eventually you’ll make it out.** Just like me. Thank you to whoever read all of this. You have been blessed with a good rest of your day, and a good night.✨✨

I’ve been listening as much as I could to it since yesterday My hands are sweaty and my chest feels empty, it feels like something is missing inside. Losses, issues, and hard times in general makes you grow. Find yourself, find your purpose, and use that growth as your guide. "Stickerbrush" gets all the attention, but it's clear David Wise put the most work and care into this song. It's him showing off every trick he's learned up to that point.

My family bought my older sister a SNES before i was born, we only ever had Mario World and Donkey kong country. Listening to these songs takes me to another time, and another planet, where everything is flourishing with beauty and potential. Where the slow flow of time swallows fear and hate alike, leaving only contentment of gratitude

Rambling checkpoint, 20th November 2022. I've typed a bunch here, but only this made sense: Yesterday I was playing DKC 2 with my grandmother for the millionth time, proud of how well we both mastered the game. Today I'm alone and wishing we could play one more time. It's been long enough that it's feeling stupid that I'm still tied back by such things, but some stuff always holds on to you. 2022 almost being over seems like I'm in a coma dreaming of the future, back in 2003. Time couldn't have moved this far forward this fast, right? All that's happened is a dream, right? Not this fast, not this quick. Next thing I know I'll be a husk holding on for nothing but the sake of keeping even those simple memories alive in a selfish saving throw. This isn't what I figured the prime of my life to be, but perhaps there's a corner I just haven't turned yet to find the shot I truly wanna take. Time's running out, even if there's forever in front. Haha, I guess none of this makes sense, but I just wish whoever hit fast forward on the tape never did.

Checkpoint 11/13/23 Finally coming out of a major depression cycle. Getting life back on track with my fiancé and her best friend at our side. Starting exercise tomorrow and will try looking for a blue collar apprenticeship to start providing for my family and getting back into the world. Wish me luck.

I definitely teared up it's my last high school year and yesterday was finaly last 1st quarter. I did my senior photos for my yearbook, which means I cut my hair which I haven't in 2 years. Checkpoint 10/10/22: Today was a pretty nice day, I managed to relax and play Forza Horizon 5 for a bit and also made a quite impressive amount of progress on my game! Tomorrow my girlfriend is coming to visit my family for the first time, she's the first I've dated that my family meets and I hope this relationship will contiue to grow.

checkpoint - nov. 17, 2022 i was thinking about this song the other day and how i discovered how truly incredible the dkc2 soundtrack is back in 2007 when i was a child. now, approaching 30, i look back at these memories and wish that they would stay with me forever, the nostalgia of playing this game as a kid with my dad and getting to the point of loading it up simply for the music player - all symptomatic of a more innocent time where I loved the coziness of videogames without true appreciation of the time that i spent playing them, and without true appreciation of my time on earth. i look back at these memories and the way that my thinking functioned back then and i'm not saddened by it, but now that i'm getting older I wish that I had recognized how quickly time would be flying by. I don't know when I'm going to pass away but I feel as if the time is approaching - I wish everybody could truly observe the beauty of life and recognize that it doesn't go as slowly as anybody may think it does. We all have slow days and slow weeks but it accumulates and accelerates at a rate that is inconceivable.

Checkpoint: Now that its nearing December I want to talk about how great of year this has been. 2022 has shown to me what life really can be. I've experienced so many new things this year and I'm so glad I have. Especially after being in a lockdown for nearly 2 years! All I can really say is that this has by far been the greatest year of my life, and it's only the beginning, we've only just started. That feeling of immense loneliness started to dissipate recently, while it's still slightly there, alot of it has gone away. I also think that I've become more comfortable by being with my self. I can see the beauty in loneliness now. I have friends in my life which I've been hanging out more. I'm really grateful for all the things I had the fortune of experiencing and all the new people i got to know. This is the most growth and change I've felt ever. It does get better, you just need to have things you look forward to. The main source of my loneliness is that I've never been in a relationship, I've never really touched a girl before to be completely honest, I'm not sure how long it will be until that point, but I'm not in any rush. I just don't like the idea of that, because I am a man, it is my responsibility to always start the conversation, to initiate. Why should I? I think everyone should put equal efforts. But dating to me isn't terribly important to me, but seeing all the people my age getting into relationships and acting all lovey-dovey does sort of hurt a bit. It makes me feel that I'm missing out on a beautiful thing. But I just don't want to have my heartbroken, and I'm not sure if i'm ready to even be in a relationship and give someone all my time and love. It seems like it'd be draining. The way I see it is that, whatever happens, happens. If i meet someone who feels the same way, then that'd be nice. But for now I'll just do me. I'll focus on myslef before I focus on someone else. That could be years into the future, but as I said, i don't want to rush things. Because love is the last thing to be rushed. I watched this video over and over while i was in 9th grade in the latest months of school (september, october and november). Im in 11th grade now, and i realize now that maybe, just maybe, 9th grade can be found again. Maybe im just too nostalgic. What if i can enjoy 11th grade as i enjoyed 9th grade? wasn't 10th grade as good as 9th grade? i think it was. I think i like being nostalgic. I think i like to hear this song because it remembers me 9th grade. But i also think i must enjoy this year the exact same way i enjoyed 9th and 10th grade. In the end, we are young. We must live carelessly of the future and enjoy the present. I want this year to feel as nostalgic and melancholic as 9th grade. In this year, i must be happy

Checkpoint: 10/11/22 I just got up a bit ago, it’s fall break so everything’s pretty chill. High school has been pretty fun so far, I started freshman year in August. I’d love to say I have a lot of good friends but I’m really not as close with anybody as I want to be. Overall I guess life has been fine, idk.

DKC2 music was probably a step above DKC1, although DKC 1 was the original and still legendary. DKC2 they had mroe experience using the tech I think. Rareware music of Killer Instinct, DKC1,2, and 007 and Perfect Dark are some of the best video game music ever. Fear Factory in DKC1 is probably my all time fav. I know Stickerbrush is way more complex and more emotional, but Fear Factory is just so badass

11/7/22 Working a double shift today, just got this recommended to me and figured I'd leave this little entry here, things aren't good and I won't pretend they are, my life is going smoothly but I can't help but feel depressed, and lost all of the time, I'm gaining weight and I suspect I won't be able to stop that, I'm just living each day by day, hoping that the next one will be my last. I yearn for sleeping at night as it's the only time I have respite from my own thoughts.

Checkpoint: 11/24/22 Another lonely birthday, another empty Thanksgiving. It's days like this where I'm stuck at home, sitting alone with my thoughts and regrets about where my life has gone. 26 now, although the stress and depression make me feel much older. I don't have many friends, and only a half of those took the time to acknowledge my existence so that wasn't fun. Still, for some miserable reason or another, I keep pushing through and am doing my best to keep moving forward. I put on some Phill Collins today and somehow it lead me back to this wonderful soundtrack that fills my weary heart with ease. Listening to this, I'm reminded of everything I've been through, the countless faces and voices blurring together over the years but the memories somehow fresh and I feel like I'm right next to them. It gives me some hope for the future that I'll do my best to hold onto.
