American soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen speaks about Donna Anna’s two arias from Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni,’ as she performs the role at the Metropolitan Opera.
There are only two things I want to say : 1 You have a most beautiful voice ! 2 Your understanding of the musical / dramatic situation and the explanations are absolutely amazing ! No more to say !
Fantastic. Love the ornaments (and even hearing it in alto octave!) These Mozart roles are so challenging as they sit so consistently across the upper passagio. Countess too. Thanks for taking the effort to float the top Bb - one of the incredible moments of the opera - That descending scale as well immediately after has such pathos if care is taken over it. Hope you sing this role in London again - missed it last time.
Michelle Bradley is the next great black soprano. She is 37 years old and her status is rising quickly in the opera world. I saw her in Aïda a few weeks ago at San Diego Opera. She was really good. She joins the ranks of great black sopranos currently singing like Latonia Moore and Angel Blue.
thank you SO MUCH for posting! I have the same voice type as you and love hearing break down your technique. Makes me feel like your level of brilliance is achievable! Starting to learn Donna Anna now, and will keep you in my heart as I learn her (as I do for every piece -- heavy voiced, full/dramatic lyrics forever hehe :)
You are so welcome! I posted another video today that I think you might enjoy! It is about bright vowels on high notes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WWrVAFmXHAo.html
