Your progress, and playing style reminds me of a Scottish guy we have over here, Tommy Smith, He just shot up out of nowhere as a teenager, next thing he was at Berklee and playing with Gary Burton. Fantastic playing dude, you have a Breckeresque future.

Donna lee was written by Charlie Parker, not by Miles Davis. This was a great cover anyway. Good job!

Hey man! Thanks for checking it out. Actually it’s a common misconception that this contrafact was written by Bird. The song is based on the changes of “Back Home In Indiana” (in Ab instead of the original key of F). Miles Davis based the melody of of a famous solo by trumpeter Fats Navaro. Miles brought the tune to a recording session under Parker’s name. Bird’s name was easier for the record company to license and more lucrative, so that’s why the gave him credit. Miles later did the same thing with many tunes associated under his name that he did not actually compose (ex. Tune Up, Old Milestones, Four etc.)

Joshua Lessinger I would suggest long tone exercises and overtone practice. Voicing is also very important! I’d be happy to give you a Skype lesson on the subject.
