I gotta say, David Bergeron is a freaking champ for those high-ass notes on that tuba. It takes a really good pair of lungs to get up that extreme register. I played tuba for 3 years, and the highest I could get without any problem was the high C... I could also go up the high D but it took more effort.

conventionally you shouldn't puff your cheeks, but it is by no means unprofessional. it is possible to be efficient with cheeks puffed but we tell beginning students not too because they are usually using their air inefficiently and it's getting stuck in their cheeks a professional values a good sound over anything else. look up dizzy gillespie
