When I first heard this song back in the day. I knew Donna Summer was going to be incredible with such a Voice. The Disco Queen of all time. Still listening in 2024 May Everyone have a GOOD YEAR and FLY!!!
This is such an underrated song. This piece got drowned out by so many of her other gems. I am glad the song was featured in Looking for Mr Goodbar. An underdog song in an underdog movie. Stay inspired everybody.
I miss the 70s so much....we all just wanted to go dancing on the weekends...such a fun time and people seemed so much happier than now...People need to dance more...you cannot be angry while you dance to beautiful music like this
@@AstralPixie Yes, we were all just more happy, we found ways to be happy, and it was not complicated...just going dancing was such a wonderful thing...I wish people would go dancing again, it would help the world a lot.
I was only 8 when this song came out....my cousin Sylvia had this album...she let me play it on the record player. I put xmas lights...on the living room floor in the shape of a big square...instamt damce floor....the way i was thinking when i was younger even blows my mind. Thank you cousin Slyvia for them great great memories. I still think of you when i play this song...
Wow, if I didn't know better, I could swear I'm your cousin Sylvia. I had this album and would play it on my record player and @ family parties in El Sereno. For my cousins.
Agree 🎯! I remember the first time my dad came home with this album….. ‘76, I was 12 yo reading a paperback novel ‘Tomboy’ in the living rm with my dad. The album back then was called A Trilogy of Love. I think it’s her greatest, then MacArthur Park Suite. Just beautiful 🖤🎶
A car, three friends, a heater blasting away the glaze on the windshield as we traded places in the ticket line awaiting to purchade our alotment of tickets to see Donna. Spent eight hours, half awaken state of mind and a head cold to score ten tickets to the event that would change my life. An excellent night to remember for a life time!
What a star the disco diva a queen only one donna summer will never ever be topped takes me back to my youth what an era 70s disco thankyou donna summer for your wonderful music R.I.P
Growing up in the 70s and hearing all these amazing songs in S.F. I did see many female artists perform , mostly in the Dance clubs. I later worked a Napa Music summer Concert, David Foster and guests as a security officer and was very privileged to greet Ms.Summer and her escort into the venue. Ms.Summer knew Security was to greet her and escort at this specific entry point , which we did , and what a nice smile of acknowledgement she gave us officers. walking by.... I will always remember her natural beauty and how gracefully she carried walking by... Sometime later that year, I worked Security at a stage entry door at the S.F. Orpheum Theater and allowed Prince. stepping out of limo., walking over. he gave me a short cool nod of acknowledgement, and entered the building , while of course I held the door open...( that's what we do ) I sure was extremely lucky and grateful for the many events and opportunities working in this specialized field of security.. I would like to share this aside from the memories of Ms. Donna Summer May Lou Ligouri of Ligouri Associates rest in peace and also my friend and the Security Supervisor at the S.F.Orpheum, Mr Darol Smith.. Sometimes being around exceptional and amazing professionals really shaped and for the better , the couse of my life..
Donna, you were and still a big part of my life! Thank you sooooo much for your music! All of us still owe you the BIGGEST going away party. I heard it on the radio it will happen here on Earth or in Heaven! Love you Forever!
I was watching a movie I hadn't seen in years. "Looking For Mr. Goodbar." I had forgotten this gem. Now it's going on my Disco playlist. Songs like this keep me awake when I'm driving and I love to play music when I'm taking a shower. RIP Donna Summer. You will never be forgotten. ❤🕊️
Donna propelled Disco to another dimension with her angelic voice and unique songs that mesmerized all of us during the Disco Era - brings back such great memories of dancing the Hustle at Roseland and house parties in Queens N.Y. with her music blasting into our ears and our hearts!
Not only was Donna Summer a beautiful woman and a wonderful talent. She was bold enough to not worry about time and make these amazing and entrancing 8 to 20 minute songs and they were usually the best songs on the albums because of it. Definition of truly getting lost in the music and letting it just take its course. It’s so easy to get lost in these funky, groovy, and atmospheric dance tunes that even for as long as they are. They never get boring. As a 23 year old. Discovering Donna’s and Giorgio’s work has been a real treat. They were simply the best.
these extended versions are more about disco being king at the time & the disco dancers wanting to stay in the groove for as long as possible, people would dance the hustle for as long as the song played, you can see good examples of the dance in the movie " Saturday night Fever" also one of John Travolta's early roles
Was working in a discothèque as a server and pulling customers on the dance floor to liven the party!....forever grateful Ms Summers for your gift .......
Donna Summer's music tears my heart to shreds because I had such an intense love affair at the height of her popularity. I just have to hear her and my heart melts, my brain goes back to auburn hair, green eyes and nights of endless lovemaking. And that was forty years ago.
I was working in Italy when this and I Feel Love were released. Both were played relentlessly in Italian discos. Have never forgotten the songs. Long live the Akimbo disco in Cattolica!
That's My Girl Donna Summer I love you so much Donna Summer you are the Queen of Disco. Rest In peace you beautiful soul love you so much Tommy ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
As a 26 year old this was playing at a party and a 42 year old blonde asked me to dance, thinking it was 3 minutes long i said yes, she danced the legs off me, it was the EP version perhaps over 20 minutes long and we went out for a few months, she was the sort of woman that would walk into a bar and people would stop talking, yes at 26 i was a toy boy and now as a 69 year old i have such good memories of this song that lady dancing rings around me and being with someone so special. My mom and dad found out and went nuts she was their best friend hahahahahaa so what ; i say now, enjoy life in the fast lane and remember those really good times when you were younger and didnt really know it all. Such is life, yeah fond memories of growing up .wherever she is bless her and her memory, AND i tell you this, it seems just two weeks ago i wsa thirty, it went that fast . dont hurt people but have fun .
I only saw her once. Wolftrap in Northern VA. Must have been 25 or 30 years ago. I was pleasantly shocked when she sang Could It Be Magic (from this album btw). I had always loved that song, but she had such a HUGE repertoire to pick from. It was a moment that I'll never forget!
The last two months have been a Donna Summer revelation to me! I thought her only hits were Love to love you and Bad Girls but these new songs (to me) I've been listening to everyday, 3 times a day! Could this be magic?
Thank you for having given us such beautiful moments with your beautiful voyage and exquisite music, a star that will never fade on the sky. la reyna de la dico
I love this version for when it breaks down and then goes into “I know we can make it..” SOOO GOOD! She was an angel who touched my life and gave me inspiration. God Bless you Donna ❤️🙏🏼
I was a teenager back then and loved to dance the Hustle. Not too long ago, I went friend's 50th BD party and the dress code was 70's style, along with the Disco Ball lights, Afros, bell-bottoms, etc. The DJ played this song and all the hustlers came out! I lead and follow. I danced with more than 10 people and I was wiped out but I NEVER had so much fun dancing to this epic song! PS, I'm 63 years old.
The way she sings this song is mesmerizing. The sying, moaning..I love sexy music especially this one. The beat and voice. I believe she was ahead of her time. I so miss and love you Donna Summer. RIP you beautiful woman.
Donna Summer was indeed the Queen of Disco Music!!! Loved her and have her songs! They need to bring back disco music, the best there is! Love the beat, rhythm and, of course, Donna’s voice! Great singer, the best! ❤️👍🙏. And Donna Summers is IRREPLACEABLE! Love the oldies for sure, the only music I hear today.

@@fbnz64 In her VH1 Divas video, she talked of how she had originally wrote Dim All the Lights for Rod Stewart. I'm glad she decided to keep it for herself.
