This is the only review that actually showed the amp that I could find, i was sold on this guitar before but kept having my doubts, but this review was a wonderful way of telling me it's a great choice, thank you!
I have the lefty model. Just got it yesterday. Have to "retrain" myself to play. I lost my ring and pinkie finger on my right hand, so learning lefty now
Thx for doing this review. Was looking for a good starter guitar but everybody used their own amps. Im glad that you made an actual full review and convinced me to buy this one. Underrated channel.
I’m here to help! Idk why anyone would use an amp other than the one that comes with it - seems dumb to me! Glad I’m one of the smarter ones for once 😅
@@MilesDoesMusic Well howdy there and how goes it man? Hope this finds everything treating you kindly in every way possible. Anyhow I literally stumbled upon this mind-blowing video and just wanna say that you have absolutely mad, mad, mad friggin off the hook skills on the fretboard dude!!!! You totally rock and I truly admire your playing lots, and if I could wind up being even half the guitarist you are I'd be plum tickled to death. I subscribed to your channel and like so many others watching this video definitely helped me with all the info I needed to decide to purchase this guitar package and will be placing my order later this evening, so thanks a million for doing such a great, great job here, much appreciated.
Oh man thank you so much! I'm sorry for the super delayed response, the youtube studio app is garbage! I'm glad you came across my video and thanks for the kind words! I'm really happy this video turned out to be informative for a lot of people - I'm looking forward to doing more demos in the near future!
@@jiggy_j6741 yeah man it’s great, specially to learn with it after a while if you like it and learn how to play well you can upgrade to a better one I’m currently planning to get an Ibanez
It's great that today you can buy a pretty decent electric guitar with complete equipment for the price of one decent family visit to the restaurant. It opens up possibilities for many people that were not possible a few years ago.
It was so helpful! All of the other reviews didn't demo anything but the guitar. You did though, I wasn't confident in buying the bundle, but now I am thanks! Number 1 on my Christmas List btw.
I just saw this message! My bad dude! I’m glad you found the video helpful - I noticed a lot of people kinda glanced past the other features of the pack, I’m not sure why. But in any case, the other components that come with the guitar aren’t half bad so I’m glad you’re taking the plunge! 🤘🏾🤘🏾
I'm 47 and looking to start learning guitar and am left handed as well. I discovered this kit is available for lefties through the Donner website and made the purchase. Wish me luck.
Miles Does Music sorry to say it’s been 1 month and I’ve yet to receive my guitar and I’m getting the run around from the company. I fear I’ve been had.
Mark Tomaszewski id say give it a little more time, I doubt they forgot you, they’re really good about getting products out to people (myself included), so it should be on its way!
@@markt.5003 Amazon sells Donner guitars. It might be easier to get it there to have the transparency of Amazon's shipping if you fear the shipping procedures straight from Donner.
Thanks mate, have ordered this set up. I can't play anything but got it for the kids in our area to test the talents, never know, one of these kids might be a star?! Great description and tutorial but would have loved you playing more bits of tunes, your really good. Anyway cheers mate, well done. Some "Aussie" kids are going to be looking you up when I show them this!
I buyed the left handed version of that guitar and I can't wait to use it, I'm at the beginning and I hope I can be good at guitar with that one, at least for the start
Best of luck! I’m sure you’ll be in good shape! I also offer online lessons so if you’d interested in some help you can email me milesdoesmusic123@gmail.com
Thank you for reviewing the amp. I was interested in buying this kit but wanted to know what the amp was like surfed RU-vid to find many reviews but your the only one that reviewed the amp. Thank you for that. Helped a lot.
Hahaha I actually got a boost recently from Ronnie Radke of the band Falling in Reverse (over)reacting to my reaction to one of his songs, but I appreciate the efforts for sure! I’m trying to get to 1000 before the end of the year 😅
Nice review! I've been very curious about this guitar (and amp).. so I have already watched two other reviews on it. I appreciate that you took more to demonstrate how the guitar sounds with the different pickups, and styles of music, than the other reviews did. I play keyboard, and have an acoustic guitar, but have been thinking of getting an electric, for a while. Makes it even harder to decide whether to get the Donner, or the Epiphone SG style that's on sale. I guess that since tuning head's and pick ups, etc. can be swapped in/out, the main difference I'm thinking is resale $, if I ever decide to sell it. Nice listening,..thanks.
Love this review. This was more the idea of what I was looking for what I was trying to see about the pack itself. Many people have the guitar reviews and that's all well and good but I wanted to see what the total value proposition here was and this was exactly the kind of video I was hoping to find. Thank you!
@@MilesDoesMusic-- Good Lord willin', I'll buy the bundle tomorrow !! And that little amp is a pleasant SURPRISE THO !!!!!!! Hey -- I ain't mad at that little amp, AT ALL !!!!!!!
As a fellow lefty I feel you brother. Luckily they have a left hand version now, which I ordered. Good review and thanks for the info on the capo. Still learning the basics.
Good video man! I like the way you played on the clean channel on every pick up most people only want to distort but thank you for doing that. You seem like a really cool guy. I will be watching your videos as often as I can it was fun watching you demo that donnor guitar and amp
Most of the feedback is that cheap cable. I replaced the nut with a bone one and grabbed a cheap cable off Amazon. Changed the strings for Ernie Ball heavy top skinny bottoms and now it sounds great. Tuners obviously have their quirks but they hold. I'm about to buy an orange amp to go with it 😁 This video was actually part of what made me buy my Donner a few weeks ago and I have no regrets. Just trying to decide what color to paint 🤔
It’s a good guitar at the bottom line! And the other components aren’t bad either but an upgrade or two certainly won’t hurt! I’m happy I could help man, best of luck with painting! 🤘🏾
Got the same in black .Gonna get the amp too .Freaking awesome. Lefty playing a right handed guitar ! Ace 😎 Yeah, checked out “sweet child o” mine intro 👌🏻😉
Thank you very much for this review! I’m 48 and Just ordered a inexpensive electric guitar To mess around with. I watched maybe 15-20 guitar reviews on inexpensive electric guitars and your review is tied for first place with guitar MAX! You show us some chords that sound like a electric guitar! LoL and not just acoustic. I just want to mess around and play power chords lol should arrive in a few days. Thank you again!!
Us leftys rule , i can play right handed as well but not to great but iam slowly getting there but have always played lefty ,, nice to see another lefty player
Been looking for a review of this guitar pack by a fellow LEFTY for DAYS! Thank you so much for doing this video. I will be ordering the exact model you played here, except the Lefty version. Can't wait to get my hands on this thing. Thank you again for doing this video and I'm wicked stoked I found a fellow LEFTY that does music videos!!!
Great vid keep this up bro ur great at it. Been contemplating getting this guitar for a little and I'm pretty convinced thanks to your video. I appreciate the great review!
Damnitt Miles you gotta quit getting me into trouble with my wife. You just sold me on this Donner. I found the lefty version in black so now I'm gonna have another guitar and I'm a drummer. Nice review, very informative too.
I'm left handed and they have the left handed version of this guitar I'm going to pick one up to learn i was between the ibez geo or this one but I'll pick this one up because it seems to come whit everything you need maybe I'll pick up the ibez later and a better amp. But for now this will do thanks for the review
Hi there. Glad I found your channel. I had thought about contacting this company for items to review. I play ambient ish tones. But ive reviewed a few guitars. Cool channel man. Subbed
I had to pause the video to say a a horrible package job ups did ffs. I’ve done packages before and the whole point of the outer box is to protect your guitar. What’s the point of the sheet of paper in the outer box that was broken to begin with? They should of had way more in there. Thank goodness they didn’t break your gear.
Thank you for the detailed review! I play ukulele and thinking of picking up guitar, but completely clueless on what to get lol. I saw this set online and was curious about it but a little worried since I’ve got small hands (I’m a 5’ adult). Wondering if I should get this kit or spend a little more and build my own set and get a 3/4 size guitar. I actually already have a capo and tuner, and don’t need an amp except to use with headphones (Japanese apartment life).
Hey! Thanks for reaching out - the company that sells this guitar pack also have smaller size guitars as well. The one I reviewed is a full size but as an electric should be pretty easy for you to handle compared to the full body of an acoustic but like I said there’s 3/4 size ones as well 🤘🏾
Does the amplifier have any kind of shutdown button or does it just have to be disconnected from the cable? I ask because I have that amplifier since yesterday and I'm not sure :)
@@MilesDoesMusic just thought I'd let you know in case you decided to get a lefty version so it's easier for you sir, but honestly being able to play upside down that's a neat trick,I used to help my friends in school with their english books so I can read upside down lol.
@@MilesDoesMusic Thanks a lot dude, , as a beginner what do you can give me as an advice, should i start learning riffs or the whole song or should i start with something else !?
Personally, I think you should start with some basic stuff to get acquainted with the guitar and maneuvering your hands around on the thing and then get into learning scales and simple songs. Seems like the best course of action and it’ll keep you in a position less likely to end up overwhelmed.
@@MilesDoesMusic Nice. Just ordered one of those Donner Noise Killer pedals last night. Should make playing my Fender style single coil pickups more attractive to play as well as my 2 P-90 pickup guitars.
Just pointing out..it's a bolt on neck, not a set neck. But I'm absolutely certain it was just a mistake on your part. I make plenty of them myself and this otherwise is an excellent video (better than mine). Geeeeezus pardner, I can just barely play right handed a little bit. I'm a beginner, but for you to play upside down is phenomenal. Lol
Why kind of strings does this guitar have, broke the replacements of the guitar and wanna find out what strings I need to buy for this guitar at guitar center
not sure if you mentioned this in the video but how is the action on that guitar? im a beginner and made the mistake of starting with an acoustic and trying to self-teach myself has definitely been a struggle so im looking to switch over to electric
Hey! I didn’t mention it in the video but compared to an acoustic, the electric is gonna have a lower action for sure. You’ll also have a better ability to adjust it with there also being the ability to adjust the height of the individual bridge saddles so you should be in better shape with this guitar!
Andrew, I think it would help if you could contact Cozart, and tell them how Miles creates such great reviews on guitars, and ask them if they can send one to him. 🤗
@@anitapalmer271 The funny thing is I had the Cozart resonator alreaday shipped and in route to me when I saw this video. I received it yesterday, but ended up returning it to the Ebay seller and instead purchased a Donner electric guitar off of Amazon, lolol. I'll contact Cozart and tell them to still send you a guitar for a RU-vid trial, but I'm probably not a valued customer anymore, lolol.
Hey! So it *is* a full size guitar, but as an electric, the body is slimmer compared to an acoustic so for smaller people it’s a benefit in that regard. As a starter guitar, it comes with everything you’d need to get started, including extra strings in the case that one is broken along the way. It might be a little big for a 6 year old, but honestly, my first guitar when I was six was a full size acoustic and I still use that to this day rather than having a collection of smaller size guitars that I use to use but don’t anymore. Hopefully that helps, let me know! 🤘🏾
subscribing jus cuz you left handed. i’m 15 n left handed trying to get in to guitar. such a pain trying to find a left handed one. got any recommendations?
Hello miles, I play an acoustic guitar so far and i would love to try an electric guitar. I am looking for a cheap guitar and which do you think is better? A Donner dst guitar or a squier bullet strat?
Hey! You could really do fine either way, the Donner I know comes with a 3 watt amp and strings and all that stuff included with the guitar if I remember correctly - I don’t think it’s the case for all squiers however so just be mindful of that! Best of luck!!
i’m think abt getting this and considering this review is a little older, how well has the guitar held up? i see tons of reviews out of the box saying it’s good but how has it held up since u first got it?
Hey! I actually gave the guitar to my dad (since it’s a righty they sent me) and so far he hasn’t had any complaints! And he’d call me if there was an issue...believe me 😅
Great vid. I've recently been looking into inexpensive guitars that I can afford. Haven't played since 02?, when my esp h 307 and classical were both stolen😭 tbh I miss the cheap classical more. I'm a lefty, but have never played a left handed. Would you reccomend relearning as a lefty or just keep playing right handed?
Hey man! It really depends on how long you’ve been playing for overall - if you only played for a couple months playing righty, maybe try lefty, but to tell you the truth, just go with what’s most comfortable for you. If you naturally hold the guitar one way, that’s the way you’re meant to hold it! Both the other guitarist and bassist in my band are lefty and they play righty - some argue that it gives an advantage, given your fretting hand would be your dominant hand, but again, I think it just comes down to what comes naturally when you grab a guitar and hold it against your body! Best of luck! And of course if you have any other questions/thoughts/etc, hit me up!! 🤘🏾
@@MilesDoesMusic thanks. I've played since 94. My right hand always sucked when it came to finger picking or sweeping though. No matter how much I practiced it just sucked. Holding a guitar upside down I could hit cords with my right hand, but was slow. Maybe my right hand just sucks lol. Could have something to do with my autism, either way tyvm for your response and your vids
Hey man, a lot of incredible guitarists are on the spectrum so don’t think of it as a disability - truly, what it comes down to is starting yourself off with stuff that’s straightforward enough that you can master it. Once you get that stuff down, you progress from there. Too many people try to dive in with too much too quickly and find themselves frustrated with their lack of progress. Start back up small, see what you can do that feels comfortable and go from there. There’s plenty of stuff I still am AWFUL at when it comes to guitar and music in general man haha so don’t sweat it at all!!
@@MilesDoesMusic that is great advice. Some can be great at certain things. My strength is what I do for a living, which is to de-escalate and replace problem behaviors. One autistic kid that I work with can hear anything and play it on his keyboard. It's amazing that he can do that. According to him, he sees colors with different notes, which seems like synesthesia, but im the only one who believes him. The downside is that he can't control himself when upset and doesn't understand that it's wrong to physically assault others. As for me, I only understand logic and am unaware that I offend others, due to not understanding why things I say do. I'm honestly surprised that you know about autism, not many do. Big props to you bro.
I've been looking up reviews on budget guitars the last couple of days and you're the only one I subbed to, because you are the only one who seemed like a genuine person. You proved me right btw, thank you
Hello, nice video dude I learned a lot about this guitar and I'm a beginner, also I've always wanted to learn the song g.o.a.t from polyphia, would this guitar be able to play this song or at least sound a little diffrent but still be able to play it.
Thanks so much! Honestly I think you’d be in fine shape to play that song on this guitar. You just need to move fast enough to play the parts haha 🤘🏾🤘🏾
I just ordered and received this guitar. This is my first guitar, so naturally, I am a bit nervous and unsure of a lot of things. I noticed that the humbucker is a bit loose, is this normal for electric guitars? Thank you!
Congrats on the first purchase! When it comes to pickups on a “strat” style guitar is that they’re mounted to the pickguard, and the mounting screws are spring loaded to keep the pickups from falling into the body of the guitar. With that said, there’s room for them to move around a little bit but for the most part they’re expected to be stationary in their position in the body of the guitar
I’d argue they’re probably about the same as far as the components used in their construction. The playability is there, but the durability and lifespan of the components will come down to the materials used. I have both a squier strat and this guitar and I’ve had the squier for probably like 12 years. Taken it on tour, swapped out pickups and stuff like that - it’s been good to me!
So its official im ordering this today and beginning my journey in professionally playin the electric guitar aswell😭😭 but im horrified at how ill start off its gonna be horrible people will be telling me to shut up😭😭
WEEEELLLLLLLL, I’ve been playing for a little more than 20 years. I had a lot of time as a kid to play guitar because I didn’t have many friends and I had the motivation to learn on my own in a world that didn’t yet have resources like youtube, and so I turned to watching music videos on MTV to get a general idea of what was suppose to be done. That and just playing what sounded right to me. It wasn’t the best, as I had to correct some bad habits I developed along the way, but the most important thing is that I practiced a lot. Do that and you’ll see progress take place very quickly.
Well it really depends on who’s hands the guitar ends up in y’know? If you’re a hard player who’s out playing gigs, yeah, this guitar is not gonna hold up very well for you after some time probably but for those just getting acquainted with the instrument or playing an electric guitar should be fine!
