My buddy and I hiked up above Shed 47 for some rare views. This is back when it was common to have a westbound parade of stack trains and we did on this day plus a manifest and Amtrak 5. Later we headed to Norden and then hiked up to Tamarak near Lilly Pond for a few more.

Another ripper from the video vault Mike! You really do get to some fantastic locations in beautiful scenery! I went over Donner on the Builder" , from Truckee , and it's a fantastic ride! Didn't get to do any shooting in Truckee as I didn't have a car to get the camera gear around, but I'll be back in the future. Thanks for the video, Gregg.

@ 3:37, 5 cars of iron ore from Utah Southern at Comstock (Iron Springs) Utah headed to Richmond CA. That is an early test train when we were sending a few cars out at a time using old UP coal hoppers. Later that year we we started sending 96 car trains out as the OISST (to Stockton) and OISRM (to Richmond). This train is most likely the MRORV. Nice catch!

Yeah, we miss those loaded and empty ore unit trains here.
