Idk if you use your account but this movie was never underrated. It came out in 1997. The end of gangster and mob movie fan culture was in the 90s. This film is very much appreciated by anyone who likes mob movies but it came out when the general public got tired of these mob movies.
Pacino is genius...the little touches, like at 7:56 when he say's "fugghedaboutit" and hitches his shoulders up. Such a small touch, but so critical to creating the character. In the first 5 minutes of the film, in 2 short scenes, he completely establishes the character.
I feel this is one of Pacino's great performances, but is often overlooked when people talk about his career. He finds the perfect note for Lefty...a world-weary aging gangster who probably would have chosen a different path in life if he could do it over, but can't because the Mafia life is all he knows.
Great film. I think Johnny Depp's most interesting and unique films were in the 90's while nowadays he acts in plenty of commercially successful fairytales to stay on the top. Al Pacino was impressive here too and Michael Madsen with Anne Heche did a great job too. I miss the 90's so much!!!
The first line of the movie may be my favorite line. "Cause your saying things, that dont mean anything!" lol There are so many great lines in this movie, and most of them you cant script in my opinion.
This is one of my all time favourite movies, I’ve watched it a million times, and Amazon prime are playin a different version of the original that I been watching for the last 15 years! 😏 Has anyone else seen the Amazon prime version?
It was a big success. Read the book. Pistone spent years testifying and lots of guys went away. Pistone says right out that he felt bad for guys who got whacked but not for putting them away. Though if you read carefully it seems he liked Sonny Black outside of the guy being in the mafia.
My mom and I wanted to rent a movie, and we saw this one, and I was all,''OMG! Its the sexiest man ever!!!!'' And then she's all, ''Who?'' And I was like, ''Johnny Depp of course!!!'' And then I showed her the movie and she's all. ''We are not watching this together!!'' I was soooooo disappointed!! So thanx 4 posting this!! Now I can just watch it here on youtube!! YAY!! =D
Who honestly doesn't love Al Pacino? I mean people know him by his 4 gimongously supernormous movies (Godfather Trilogy and Scarface) but still. Who doesn't like and justice for all and this movie?
I came to this movie soley because of the fact that they made a movie about the hisortic fact of Joe Pistone under the mask of Donnie Brasco and inflitarting the mafia for five years. He was a genius. And maybe because of Pacino.
Well, folks . . . you should take notice . . . the very FIRST music heard in this film is a vocal by the great Dinah Washington . . . married eight times . . . dead at 39 . . . Gary in Arizona
Its about a guy whos a undercover agent who works his way into al pacino's clan. Then he bust all of them with heavy drugs and things. Great movie a classic.
Learn the scene, learn it, live it. why? because it's life. some people know how to live it, some don't...try to know, if you know- good, if not-you might be on your way...
I heard that a bronx tale was actually shot in brooklyn..., but they just named the movie "A Bronx Tale" because it sounded better than a Brooklyn tale. Thats what i heard. Maybe you can confirm and correct me
im reading the book, well different from the film, lefty in this does things that other people do in the book, he is more like a composite in the movie
He looked over there and though this Diamond thief. whats he know about diamonds. Don the jeweler. Fergasie? hAAAAAAAAAAAA shit this kills me, this has to be fucking movie. ITS THE MOVIES!
Portrayals of the Mafia, that I have seen, seem to portray the Mafia as hard up, all business and no pleasure people. This movie opens up showing a bunch of Mafia guys having a bicker over which car is better. Shows that even the Mafia are human with quirky habits and likes
I agree, but you have to understand, i think the director or writers were trying to convey that the mafia doesnt like outsiders and how dangerous it was for an agent
