I almost wonder if somehow time travelers are trying to communicate the future to us..via video media, remember the old Star Trek TOS episode "Tomorrow is Yesterday" was also an attempt to communicate messages from a future time?
Not like Donnie Darko at all. 1. The whole engine landed in Donnie’s bedroom. In this situation most of the engine remained on the plane. 2. The engine in Donnie Darko was of unknown origins. In this situation we know exactly where the parts were coming from. 3. Engine in movie travelled through a wormhole.

Tragedy? No one died and no injuries. Thats not a tragedy. It's not a huge stretch to imagine parts falling off and killing someone when we have tens of thousands of planes flying around every day😂 and it's not like it was the whole engine lol. This happens, typically though it falls on farmland, water or somewhere else remote.
