Donny's famous "Donnyland Studios" are out of action for a while...but that's not gonna stop the In Studio sessions!
Today we'll take a look at Donny's much loved 1977 Fender Jazz Bass and check out how to play his latest single "Multiply" from the upcoming album Infinite Desires.

Technical details: 1977 Fender Jazz bass with Mas Hino 60's "hot" pickups, LaBella RX S4D 45-105 strings.
Recorded direct to UAD Apollo twin. Maybe a little kiss of compression...

I've always been fashionably late to every party. Thus, it's only been about a month since first I encountered the aural arts of Mr Benet... A month since my life was forever changed, and my faith in the transcendent power of music, restored. Donny, I'm bloody proud to be your fellow countryman, and I just want to say thanks for sharing... not just the tasty licks, but an infectious enthusiasm which is truly motivating. Excellent walkthrough. The thing that struck me while listening to Multiply for the first time was how much it reminded me of Michael Franks circa 1985 when he had guys like Marcus Miller and Will Lee leading on his uptempo stuff (like 'Read My Lips" off of Skin Dive). But you bringing up Luther Vandross and Louis Johnson made a lot of sense to me too - Never Too Much right? 😁 The album is gonna be amazing in any case, can't wait to get my paws on it.
