Led by Jalen Brunson’s 27 points (21 in the 2nd half), the No. 5 seed New York Knicks defeated the No. 4 seed Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1, 101-97. Julius Randle (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Josh Hart (17 points, 10 rebounds) added a combined 36 points for the Knicks in the victory, while Donovan Mitchell led all scorers with 38 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists for the Cavaliers. The Knicks lead this best-of-seven series, 1-0, with Game 2 taking place on Tuesday, April 18 (7:30 p.m. ET, TNT).

Love how people are calling Mitchell a choker when he carried the load all game. Yeah the Cavs took the L but it wasn’t because of Spida. If anything Mobley and Garland need to show up more next game, and the cavs bench needs to up their game. People saying Mitchell choked didn’t watch the full game.

38 definitely ain't chokin but I call this a 5 or 6 game series in favor of the Knicks, Garland, LeVert, Okoro, Mobley, none of them really got playoff experience, maybe LeVert, Cedi does but I doubt they'll give him big consistent minutes, Knicks got actual stars & consistent role players

@@xDaPrincex I mean i wouldn’t be surprised. Brunson is a dawg and their team is definitely way deeper. This Knicks team is way different than the one who lost to the hawks 2 years ago. I gotta give them their props, and if the cavs players keep not producing at a high level, the Knicks probably will win in 6.

Now lissen I'll be the first to say he overrated, he has a Utah team who was better then the Mavs team, lost to a Suns team, but he had 38 points man, he did what he had to do which was show up, he basically dropped 40, this wasn't on him, some games he vanished or struggled before but the same way I criticize him I can give credit when he shows up, the other Cavs will be the deciding factor of how quick the next win this series It could be in 5, it could be in 6 or it could be in 7, if the Knicks play this way I doubt it goes to 7, this Cavs team not even better then the team he had in Utah, yes they have more skill & not in their prime but still, these Knicks are basically in their primes, how are they gonna stop the Knicks?

cavs weaknesses on full display tonight vs. the Knicks.... poor bench play, limited 3 pt shooting, & poor rebounding. that said, in spite of all those negatives showing up AND no one else playing well other than Donovan Mitchell & Jarrett Allen, they still only lost by 4 points. bottom line, Darius garland & Evan mobley have to play better for the cavs to win this series. no doubt nerves played a roll for those very young players, but they need to get over it & grow up quickly & just ball out, win or lose.

Mitchell is the man, no doubt. But: 😃 Quickly and Grimes had terrible games. Jalen Brunson was hampered by early foul trouble. RJ was a non-factor. Randle was coming off an injury. Cavs got no bench. And Cavs were playing at home. Knicks in 4-5

The problem with basketball is too many people think they understand it. Mitchell is the reason the Cavs lost. He shot the ball 30 times and went six for 16 from three. He should’ve passed more. He had eight assists and probably should’ve had 16 because his teammates were shooting good. Mitchell can create about any shot He wants anytime he wants. Those are the most dangerous players, but only when they become better passers.

Garlands the point guard if mitchell is jacking 30 shots then garland should redistribute the ball to the rest of the team. Mobley was dreadfully inefficient and garand was frankley trash the game was close because of donavans scoring not to mention he was 48percent from the floor which is pretty good efficiency especially in the playoffs stop blaming your best player and but some accountability on the guy who is supposed to be "the next tim duncan" and the next "steve nash"
