A bit of fun with "dance" from several films, including Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls (1970) and The Wicker Man (1973), edited for time, sync, and assorted craziness of course.
All are set to Donovan's "There Is A Mountain" which was released in the US as a single in August 1967 (October 1967 in the UK). It charted in the UK at #8 and in the USA at #11 (Billboard) and #9 (Cash Box) on September 23, 1967 (CB date). May your harvest be bountiful!

I had forgotten that Movie 'Dolls'. I'm a GenX'er and had a friend back in '94 who worked at the video rental shop. We set out to see the strangest movies we could find. This one was weird. It had it's own sort of style that stood out from even movies of the same era

Yeah, I saw it for the first time in summer 1973 ... by then it was a three-year-old film, but they used to put films that were 4, 5, even 10 or more years old on at the Drive-Ins back then. Not anymore except on special retro nights, and those usually are crap teen comedy films from the 80's and 90's or movies you have seen several thousand times on TV. But I agree ... this "Dolls" sequel (which was not really a sequel) was way over the top weird. I think we can thank Z-man for that more than any other character, especially when he reveals to his captive "slave" that he is "Superwoman"! LOL?

@@mikemunrowsretro8973 I was 'negative' -2 years old in 1973. I have seen a 'Drive In' in my lifetime, outside of the Smithsonian exhibits.

@@mikemunrowsretro8973 Anything by David Lynch, Naked Lunch, Boxing Helena, the first two Hellraisers, and an oddball movie called Floundering. Plus the shit we know was harsh to begin with like Gummo, The Mentors, and 'Hated' a documentary about GG Allin.(Do not watch!) We would sear our young minds with cinema, and while we had seen documentaries about Woodstock, Yellow Submarine, and Alice's Restaurant. We'd also push it by watching shit like 'Faces of Death', which was not easy to come by in1994. After so many years I'd say that 'Dolls' had what youngsters might now call Pimp Juice.

@@lawfulremedies1838 And let's not forget that infamous magazine, National Lampoon! They broke every rule in the book and invented new ones to break! Saturday Night Live was a pale imitation.

This is one of my all time favorite videos from you! The music and visuals are so perfectly matched. How it it even possible that such scenes were cast, staged, costumed and filmed??? Crazy, wonderful stuff!

Glad you enjoyed it! I've a good memory of the wackier films and wacky scenes from them. Long time fan of two films used, The Wicker Man (1973) and Beneath The Valley Of The Dolls (1970).

@@mikemunrowsretro8973 Just watched the trailer of Wicker Man on IMDB. OK...gotta see this now. And the pot smoking scene you sampled with Porter from BtVotD cracks me up so I guess I have to track that one down, too. Screenplay and story by...Roger Ebert? Wild! I remember seeing the bizarre Casino Royale (1967) as a kid and rewatching a few times as an adult. That's pretty darned sample-worthy, too.

@@DevataDavis That's right Kent. The scene with Porter and Dolly Read as Kelly is from Beneath The Valley Of The Dolls (1970). Roger Ebert and Russ Meyer (this was probably Russ Meyer's most famous or infamous film). A spoof not at all related to the original 1967 film with Sharon Tate. It was blocked I think because I used too much film, not because they are blocking the film itself. For some reason, back in 2015, you could put as much of Beneath The Valley Of The Dolls on RU-vid as you liked and the copyright holders didn't care. The same thing was true of The Beatles. Could put any Beatles song and footage up you wanted. That changed by the end of summer 2015. As for Beneath The Valley Of The Dolls, looks to me the blocking of too much material from the film is more recent. Things change on here all the time. What was no big deal a few years ago, now is major trouble and vice versa. Too bad.

Don't you hate it when you're dancing with a girl and she's dancing to the words, not the music...excellent, Mike! Love the mummers' footage.
