For this animation, I wanted to morph a Donut into a Brownie, which seemed the perfect time to try KeyMesh Addon by Pepe School Land. What I'm doing here is a hybrid technique somewhere between regular animation and KeyMesh Animation. KeyMesh animation feels like frame-by-frame animation, say done in Animate CC or ToonBoom, but then in 3D.
It's almost like stop-motion animation. You have to carefully plan this out upfront. Because Blender won't create interpolated keyframes for you. Normally it's your personal in-betweener, but now you have to do it yourself. And that is also right where its strength lies.
I'll animate a base animation, layered with the capabilities of the Keymesh addon, to smooth out the morph between shapes in 3D.
