Born in the early fifties I listened from the from the crib ( not meaning so rappers home) learned to dance in the neighborhood girls garage. Pedal pusher pants and Bobby socks, Cushman motor scooters FORD Falcon Sprint 4 speed on the floor 289 CID in my Hot Rod.
Yes, Thank You Creator Of This. The Poodle Skirts, The Saddle Shoes Bobby Sox's Black And White Saddle Shoes. I Still Love 'em. 1956 Cadillac. The Catilina's. 1919 T Birds .Them Cars Was Like Living In A Boat. No Seat Belts Then. I Miss This. And Them Days. It Be Never Be The Same. Because The Pple Who Was Living Then Are Not Here Now. Almost 75 Now. Thank You Creator Of This. Thank You.
I'm now 68 and am glad I grew up with this music too. I may have been a baby in 1955 when rock & roll began, but I know I shaked, rattled and rolled in my crib to that music all the way through my years and into my teens up through the 60's and 70's. What a great erra! All the music had melodies, all the artist and class, and real talent. They didn't need all the electronics being used in music today. They were the real deal. Cars and clothes had styles too. The sock hops, dance parties in friend's homes and on the beaches. Boys looked like boys and girls looked like girls. If I could, I would do it all over again. 😎
I love this music more and more as I get older. I'm 77 now and it brings back the happiest memories of my youth. I too feel this crazy world is totally out of control with all of this "woke" BS. Just put on a 1957 do-wop record, close your eyes and leave the zoo of 2022 behind and go to your happy place.
Don't you think it's kind of ironic that you are diggin on music that is primarly African American in origin and then complaining about "woke" BS? Like you I have a nostalgic fondness for this music but I also understand the importance of being 'woke'. I make a point out of being aware of history and social injustices past and present. There were a lot of "woke" people fighting for civil rights over the last 150 years and they helped make this nostalgic distinctly American music that we love possible. Can you imagine where this country would be if there were no 'woke" people fighting to correct the injustices that somehow continue to occur in the most unbelievable ways?
There will never ever be music or singers like this again. This was my time, and they were wonderful. One of the best times if my life. I am glad I grew up with all of these singers.
Awesome - growing up with this music.. brings back so many memories - motor cycles, 55 Chev...and so much more, summer loves ... I even had hair back then... need more music like this... s and more - da
My fingers can get tired praising all this musical gold. But it's a sweet pain if you know what I mean. Long Live Van Nuys Blvd and the friends I remember from there. I've mentioned this before. I would feel eternally blessed (believer in Christ) that if I ever lost my mind I hope it would be stuck in the 50s with an imaginary radio sitting next to me 24/7 pumping out this music. The closest thing to Heaven till I go there.
You nailed it bro! Van Nuys Blvd, Bob's Drive in, the cars and bikes and the music, the BEST EVER. I would give everything I own to go back in a time machine.
I'm a middle of the baby boomers born in 56. On into the mid-70s until disco came around and wrap after that I went to country music and that's going to crap. So I'm glad these are on RU-vid
@@musicforyourminddjjohnny Keep at it. You are making the world a better place. I need to go back to those times every now and then, and this helps a lot. I love every one of these songs. Thank you so much
Maybe you could come with me as I have been waiting patiently for my time capsule to take me back to the 1950's😊. I would give all of this latest technology and never come back. Black and White TV, 3 channels and you have to get up to change the channels... good for all of the coach potatoes😊. Sorry 🦉owls but when midnight rolls around it goes to snow and the national anthem is played.... your big chance to become a Lark!🤯📺
Grew up in the 60s. Im 65 but the folks listened to this in the car. BEST DAYS FOR THIS COUNTRY!!!! Bring this music back and get rid of that damn rap crap!!!!!!!!
I love this music. Brings back great memories of a time when I was a teenager and enjoyed good times. I'm 73 and still listen to all this great music. I cant relate to rap music. These songs speak to my spirit. My favorite is Denise, Denise by Randy and the Rainbows.

19:56 you know it's really sad when you cant hear the lyrics depending on how the song is sang and have to look up the lyrics only to figure out the song is all in your native English language, but the man sings in such a way that makes him very hard to understand or hear, i get the tone of the song but none of the lyrics. now i understand the he just had "good timing", that's all the song was about lol. i love this song, it was just near impossible to understand what he was saying in the song because of the way he sang the song. now. the next song, dream lover i understand every word without having the need to look up the lyrics as i can hear every word without issue.
There will never be another era like the one I grew up with, I would not trade the wonderful times for all the tea in china. So fortunate and all of you out there who were part of it know exactly what I'm talking about! The memories are priceless and so was the music! Step into my time machine and come back with me to a nicer time when we were not in such a hurry and life was more enjoyable and less complicated. I'm 76 and when I listen to this incredible music I close my eyes and I'm 17 again. Beautiful and tell the time machine if I'm asleep don't wake me up.😃
@@bioshock6935 None of us are going back to the 50' with our current age. You can be any age you want. That's the beauty of time travel. So welcome aboard!! 😊
Though i agree somewhat with your comment, "time was simpler"?? WOW!! If you have said Music was simpler, yeah 100% with you, but times? For real? "WHITE ONLY" "NOT COLORED ALLOWED", "PEOPLE OF COLOR NO NEED TO APPLY" school were SEGREGATED, KKK, Cold War, And yeah you miss when "Times were simpler", perhaps with a narrow minded, simple mind like yours. AMERICA sucks now, "Murica" sucked just as bad back then.
I started my radio DJ career in 1961, so I was lucky enough to have played most of these songs on the air. I'm 80 now and I am so thankful that I was a part of the music scene back then. It really was a magical time!!
I was just a “pre-teenager “ in years mentioned. Not only did I love the doo whop/rock music, but memories of food😀. My favorite station advertised this fabulous pizza place, and my parents also liked it. Our family would drive to this out-of-way place on. early Saturday nights, that double sausage & cheese pizza still brings up cravings!
I am from Mexico, 🇲🇽 I am 18 years old and despite the fact that in my time there is a great musical decline. 😔 Honestly, I'd rather listen to Oldies from Bygone Times I never lived through. 😃 - It is simply more beautiful and beautiful ❤️🥰
This kind of music is waking up something in my heart and soul - i can't explaine. Greetings from germany. I was born in 1963 (east-germany) and every saturday at 11.00 i listened to a (west)-berlin radio-station - they played this beautiful music.
Reminds me so much of the girls that fell I love with. We were so innocent. I remember them all when I hear this music. God bless them. Hope their lives turned out as great as mine.
As a teenager why back my father had a radio which we use to listen to Wheelus air base in Libya .As Malta is north of Libya about 140 miles we where lucky enough to recive these type of music .I am 74 YEARS old now still this music make me remember those days.
Back in the days when love was in the air, instead of drugs, violence , fear, and hate. I am 77 and was about 15 +/- 4 yrs when this stuff was in vogue. I miss those days.
@@musicforyourminddjjohnny I hear a lot of great stuff today too - my gripe is that it is mostly over-produced. What I love about 50s is they just pressed "record" and sang - no fancy post-production
Yeah, we had a Mel's Drive-In in Salinas, California on the main drag. Hot1950's and 60's muscle cars cruising Main St. with 8 track stereos blaring as us teenagers were shouting to one another where the parties were. Then it was a fuel stop of a burger, fries and shake at Mel's where all the hot cars were lined up with each owner bragging how fast his was. Then it was jaunt to Hitchcock road where one after another squared off against each other. Those were the days!
Steve, we didn't have a Mel's but had the same just with different names. I had a fast car and loved the drag races and Saturday night dances, and just cruising with friends and the girls were great too.
@@Roy-dt4xu I think just about every city over say a population of over 50,000 had a main street that teenagers cruised on and a local restaurant hangout back in the late 50's, 60's and early 70's.
This they do. I'm eighty and counting, and at times, I do get depressed, but the music from my youth cheers me up almost instantly and brings back happy memories.
I am 70 now and yes this music from the 50,s brings back the simple good things of growing up listening to my transistor radio loving the music , good memories thanks.
I was a teen when these songs were playing on my transistor radio. I'm 77 now and these songs bring back memories of the best years of my life. Thanks for the upload.
All played on AM radio static and all. Fading in and out. What an era. I was 9 in 55. You all remember the SCREAMER?.Dick Biondi WLS Chicago? I grew up in Columbus Ohio on the Hilltop. Around Whitethorne Ave. WCOL.
Reminds me of my first ford...testing it's speed over 100 miles per hour. Needless, my friend was scared s------- and never said a word. The fearlessness of youth! Thanks to God! He was walking with us then as He still walks with each of us!
There's something very special about the connection, 50's and 60's cars, and the roots of rock n' roll! They are both very American and they remind me of how great this nation was and can still be! We must restore and preserve it for future generations!!
I'm so thankful that I grew up when these songs were popular, with authentic instrument playing/sounds and singers with voices not electronically altered. Such a magical time!
I'm thankfull that my father always played this type of music. Never knew better and I love it till this day! I'm 37 now and play these songs with my 9 y/o son 🥰
I'm going on 80 but these songs bring back pleasant memories from the 50s and 60s. Listened to the 50 kW AM stations at night like WKBW Buffalo and WBZ Boston when they would phase their antennas to the south with our girl. Locally WPGC from MD in the day. Later when stationed west of the Mississippi it was KOMA, Oklahoma City, OK, another 50 kW station at 1520 AM. My 427 dural quad Ford and other GM and MOPAR high performance cars were the vehicle to have. Viet Nam changed things for ever and we never got back to the care free days when gas was cheap, in some places 10-15 cents per gallon. What a great time to grow up in and become adults.
We are the same age and I too had a fast 427 Chevy impala. We loved to go out at night and just race for fun, listened to rock and chased the girls and enjoyed the dances and comradardy with friends. KOMA was always one of several stations we turned back and forth to. I grew up in OKLAHOMA and it was just a good time to be alive.
AND GAS WAS 35 CENTS A GALLON, 100 OCTANE CHEVRON FOR 50 CENTS A GALLON. WHITE LIGHTENING, THEY CALLED IT. MANY OF THE HIGH-PERFORMANCE CARS USED IT, HIGH COMPRESSION,
All music reflects the times it was written in. Post World War II was a great period celebrating freedom we won in WWII. And a time that followed (50's) was of self-discovery.
I was born in the 70s and listened to this great music and every time I hear it I feel like I'm actually there and listening to it at the drive in for the first time. Like I'm right there in the era. If Dr Browns time machine was real I'd drive it back to then and stay there.
My music from the 50s 60s 70s and 80s is all that gets me through the day now. Thank God I was born and raised back then and not in this crazy nasty world we have today.
I'm only 42 but I've always loved this type of music since I was just a little kid. There was always something magical about hearing these songs. It makes me long for a bygone era that I never even lived through.
I have time on you, but I can understand what you are experiencing. It's not really nostalgia but more of an inner connection to what was real, now it's unreal.
Hi realestatess ! Your comments are so refreshing 😊 and remind me of my younger years when my friends and children, at times, refered to me as being Old Fashion😘My parents were in their mid sm later 30's when they lucked out with me, Ha-Ha, as the 4th to come along with an older brother in the Army and sister in 12th grade highschool, another brother 9 years old. I often tell my husband, I wish times now were the way they were when I was growing up 🤗. Speaking about, at the time,a local small town, Sincerely yours, A California girl ❣️ Thank you, and stay with the wonderful music, from the," Good Ole Days" ‼️😘
@realestatess: "I'm only... that I never even lived through." Are you sure???? You could have died around the late 70's and reincarnated. Look into that. How? Meditation. Most likely, you'll find many other things you love about the fifties.
I’m 84, 85 In March. The fifty’s and sixty’s were magical times for all us young ones, our music was filled with love and a joy of life and living, loud yes however you could hear every word of a song, could pick out every musical instrument, when we went dancing at week end we would actually have some contact with a partner even in the jive or rock numbers which often saw air between the dancers.. Now a boy or girl asks someone for a dance they get on the floor and yards apart and jiggle without ever coming together !!? And people in general seem so insecure intense and can’t seem able to accept any rejection, to us it was just part of living. Ah…..happy days, years even.
IT'S AMAZING HOW SO MANY OF THESE CLASSICS BRING ME RIGHT BACK TO MEMORIES OF THE PAST. I CAN BARELY RECALL WHAT I DID YESTERDAY, BUT I FEEL LIKE I CAN PICTURE WHERE I WAS AND WHO I WAS WITH WHEN EACH OF THESE SONGS PLAYS. MY VERY FAVORITES MIXED WITH ELVIS'S GOSPEL.
Yes it’s amazing as each and every one of these songs we can remember the words and where we were as teenagers even as you say we can’t rember what we had for dinner yesterday
I'm born in 56 and the Last born of six plus my old est bros was drummer as well à trumbone musician when I was still in the cradle but only in my sixth year this world I was playing on my brosthers drums, all this to say, this is the era of music I learned to play drums and still play to those songs and I'm 67 I do play songs of the late 40's as up to some late 80's But the 50's and 60's are my favorites 😊🙏
Just missed this era, but remember some of these songs! The Beach Boys & Four Seasons carried the doo-wop tradition on for a while longer. "Denise, Denise" by Randy & The Rainbows (1963) was the last doo-wop song I recall. THANKS for posting these songs!
In the year 1941 i came along and find a war around me , so i had to bee qiuck older, then came in 56 The platters on the stage and i was sold What a voices the started with only You , so a lift with them till now its 2023 still a waar around and noone learns how to live and love. so i.m 81 now and still love the platters ok
There's a lot of people like you matter of fact I'm just a little bit older than you and I love this music but growing up there were a lot of people much older than me that's why I have a good love for the music
Saw your name and reminded me of my James Dean look I wore in junior high, engineer boots tight pants cigarettes rolled up in white tee shirt slicked back hair.
I 63yrs now and this music is still the best when my parents played the records the year was 1942 I wasn’t thought of after peal harbor my dad US ARMY 😊❤🇺🇸
Cruising the strip at nite in the valley was total freedom with your sweetheart and friends intill they outlawed it.i miss Wolfman jacks music and it was the best of times before nam
I went to see American graffiti in Reno nevada. I pulled into the drive in in my 400 hp 54 ford pickup with my buddy .All eyes were on us. What a great movie.😁
Yes guys these were the days when girls were a real unknown delight that you did not know how to approach. Boy it was a real treat if you got one too talk to you right guys be honest now!!?
I was fortunate enough to have a parent that loved her music, in turn I grew up listening to this wonderful music and in turn my children listened to it and now their children are listening to it.
I'm a mid baby boomer born in 56 love these old songs on into the mid-70s until disco came along and rap after that. I went to country now that's gone to crap glad these are on RU-vid
My cool big brother was a teen in the late 50s and he played guitar sang Blue Moon and imitated the cool singer dancing and performing for me teaching me to be cool too. He was handsome kind funny and dramatic in his own ways. So tragically he passed away in drowning in 1961. 😢 I was devastated and was only 13 when I lost my hero. But now and always as I get older I’ve love many kinds of music but by far Do Wop is my brother s music and it takes me back to a magical fun time with these awesome fun songs of fun love and dance. Yep I feel relax ed and motivated . Not too old ever at a lady of 75 keep it going.🥰
Born way to late. From the 80s but i have always been stuck in the 50s. Always listening to 50s music. Doo Wops and Rockabilly. My Parents and Friends do not understand why I am constantly listening to 50s music and even been into 50s related cars.
We are around the same age for some reason I just love doo-wop maybe it's because I grew up with a lot of older people but friends my age don't really care for it but slowly they are starting to get into it they realized that this is just very very happy music
I'm 73 years young I grew up in Tulare, California I attended TWHS we cruised every week end listening to Wolfman Jack out of WCOK radio station there in Tulare. Those were the days my friends. Memories I'm extremely fond of 50s 60s 70s such an easy way of living "Happy Days" for sure.
That means a lot I don't hate on the new music there's a lot of great artists but they just send the wrong message so glad you like this music there's more to come
I love this music. I'm 73 now, this was a great time in my life. I live in Tennessee now but grew up in central Cal. I loved going to school dances and dancing to this music. But no one has mentioned "The Wolf Man." Wolf Man Jack was a great part of all of this time period. Loved him. Thanks for posting this music.
@@musicforyourminddjjohnny Yes, if it's the same one I'm thinking of it's Maple Motors, in Hendersonville, TN. It's about 20 minutes from where I live.
Hey Dragon Rider 70 I do car shows and cruises in Central NJ and there's a car club called the Fossils Car Club and they do a cruise at a local mall and a member of the club DJs the event. He looks like and calls himself DJ Wolfman
