Other reviews just reply what you find on the official website. You go deeper, by far, is the best review about this phone I have ever seen. Thanks from Spain.
because of your review i bought one, it will arriive next week, my old agm g2 guardian was a bad experience it lose fingerprint sensor and camera aperture and thermal camera unfortunately, hope doogee will better
Thank you for the video. I am in the process of replacing my broken Moto G stylus, and I have been exploring other options. Very thorough video, I thank you very much for such a good job.
Your review is one of the Much Better ones, thank you. A few questions if you might? What is Doogee's record of updates, how many years of support have or do they give? It looks like the Thermal camera is a fusion or mixed with the normal camera to create an interpolated higher actual pixel count than the thermal camera which I believe is around 350 x 250 pixels, other phones before the V20 did this, does that sound about right? Cheers
Thanks a lot! Someone in a previous video contacted Doogee and they said they'd provide at least 2 years of security updates but I can't say for sure if that's for every product or not. I know the T20 tablet I've been using keeps getting updates so far but I've only had that about 4 months or so. Regarding how the thermal camera works that's a good question and I'm not sure to be honest. As I said to another commenter - the pics are only 1.6MP so aren't the most detailed (even if the size of the image is 1440x1080)
I've been using the Doogee V20 Pro for a while now, and I must say, it's a beast! The Mediatek SoC ensures smooth multitasking, and the battery life is impressive too. Highly recommend it!
@@jackcarver8234 trying to decide if projector or long distance thermal camera is more important to me right now.. battery has to last me atleast a day of activity which is also holding me up on the v20 pro
I bought this phone really I'm totally impressed I use it sometimes in a bush during hunting really I want to get an normal configuration of the InfiRay to clearly see the animals 😁
Thanks for the review. Did you get a chance to test the slow motion out? Supposed to be the first doogee phone with slow mo 😅 I just bought one anyway for 300, seems like a good phone seeing how i dont play games in my ohone anymore or do anything that warrants cutting edge processor.
I hadn't spotted the slow motion - just gave it a try and it seems to work pretty well! 300 is a great price - I've kept mine for the thermal imaging which I find quite handy during the winter months
Thanks for this video! May I ask, is that watermark on the thermal imaging permanent or can it be removed? Also does the thermal camera record in a choice of frame rates? It looked a bit jerky in your samples. I’d love to use it for video!
Can you live stream using the infrared night vision camera? I do a lot of ghost hunting and live stream many of them. To be able to live stream with the infrared camera would be ideal.
I'm on a budget, but I still want a powerful phone with a great processor. Is the Doogee V20 Pro with Mediatek Dimensity 700 processor a good option for me?
If you need the Thermal Imaging this phone provides then it's definitely worth it. If you're not worried about the thermal camera then Doogee do offer some other phones which may suit you better - really depends how you're going to use it
Only time will tell of course. If you treat your phone well then you shouldn't have a problem. Even with a rugged phone I'd take care of it as if I was my S23 Ultra 👍
It's hard to test that really - it can definitely see buildings that distance but I don't live in an area where I can get a clear line of sight of people at 1000 meters. I did a test at around 50 meters here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ee2z-TpA_Qs.html
I've ordered one of these - it's still about a month away. I have read a review that stated it's rear camera video is only capable of 30fps. Is this so? I thought that might only be for 4K mode - but can anyone confirm if it can do say, 60fps @ 1080P?
@@AndroidAddicts Thanks for checking ...kinda sucks a bit. I wonder if a 3rd party camera app would raise the bar? I haven't been limited to 30fps since my Galaxy S2! Nevertheless , the thermal imaging makes up for it I guess.
The phone is not as tough as it seems I broke the screen twice already. I'm very disappointed. After changing the screen the screen the phone never functions properly. I am using it with the hairline crack in the middle. Problem with these phones you can't get parts right away and have to wait weeks. I'm almost tempted to buy a mainstream phone because of that problem. I bought a rugged phone thinking it will last but it doesn't. My BlackBerry never broke a screen.
When my screen lites up there is an icon of a running shoe in the lower left corner with 3 to 4 numbers underneath. I have searched everywhere I can think of and can't find what it is. Anyone here know
Very odd - is it a step-counter app maybe? Maybe try walking around a bit when you turn it on and see if it increases at all. If it's not that then I guess it must be some sort of loading animation. I haven't seen it on mine though (I've just tried booting it up from being off)
I recently bought the V20 Pro and the night vision camera isn't installed on my V20 Pro, I have contacted Doogee but their customer service has been poor !!
Have you looked into the camera app under "More" (slide across near the bottom in the app). If it's not there for some weird reason, you could try resetting the app: go the phone's Settings, Apps, See all Apps and find Camera in the list and select it. Now select Storage and cache, click CLEAR STORAGE (don't worry it won't delete your photos or anything). Now try loading the Camera app again see if it appears. Let me know how you get on!
So strange. What we could try and do is if I backup my version of the app as an APK and you try installing it over the top of your version it might work/fix it. Might not of course but could be worth a try. You definitely have the V20 Pro and not just the V20? What is the current version of the Camera app? Mine is 1.1.60030
OK I've backed up the app from my V20 Pro using an app called SwiftBackup (free in the Play Store). If you want to give it a go then here are the instructions I've just written out: Download my Camera.APK from my V20 Pro: drive.google.com/file/d/15kHyi12DqhWXguZSJQMAq7N5VVel9Wjw/view?usp=sharing Before you install it I recommend backing up your version first - just in case - then you can restore it if required. Install SwiftBackup from Google Play and open it Sign in with Google Grant Storage Permission Allow access to manage all files Press Back Click Apps (in SwiftBackup) Press icon in the top right (3 lines and an arrow) App backup settings Turn on Show system apps Find Camera in the list Press 3 dots and Backup / Restore Press + Backup And press + Backup again - it'll back up the existing Camera app as an APK locally Now try installing the apk I sent and say you want to 'update' the app. Open the Camera see if it fixes the problem When I first tried, I got a strange message overlayed on the screen but a reboot seemed to fix that Hope the helps out - if not then I'm really sorry - can't think of anything else to try apart from a hard factory reset.
@@AndroidAddicts, Thank you very much for helping me out much appreciated 🙏.... Yes I definitely have the V20 Pro and I checked the camera current version and it is the same 1.1.60030 so it's very strange, When I get home from work tonight I will try the reset as you mentioned and let you know 👍🏽. Cheers
The case back that is given is actually better that the phone back side, in my opinion. I don't like the horizontal lines. I like the case black color. I have V20 at home recently. It is minus imaging thermal camera. But it can be charged wirelessly. Can V20Pro be charged wirelessly too?
@@enjoy8747 You can see it can detect heated objects from a great distance - just pause at 11:27 for example. That house is at least 50M away as well as all the mounds on soil/grass it is picking up on the ground 👍
@@enjoy8747 From a Physics or Thermodynamics point of view, the thermal image sensor should still pick up an animal or a human being because the LWIR (Long Wave Infra Red) radiation picked up by the thermal image sensor is optimized to detect biological thermal infra red signatures. Incidentally the technology behind the thermal imaging sensors was originally developed for military use, to selectively sense the LWIR thermal radiation wavelength range (8 to 13 microns) given off by human beings, for making it easier to find enemy targets in total darkness, which included implementation in sniper scopes. Since warm blooded animals have a similar LWIR thermal radiation range as human beings, these sensors are ideal for hunters who wanted thermal scopes on their hunting rifles. The detection range for humans or animals will be probably shorter than detecting hot house roofs at over a mile or 1.6 km away because human skin has a healthy or normal temperature range of 33.5 °C to 36.8 °C. The detection distance may depend on the ambient temperature, thus in winter the smartphone's sensor may be able to pick up an animal or a human from a longer distance, especially at night when the temperature is the coldest. The imaging sensor technology used in the DOOGEE V20, is in IMHO most probably a micro-bolometer array because this type has the widest thermal spectral response compared with other thermal sensor technologies, and would be most useful for remotely measuring the temperatures of a variety of objects. Smartphones with thermal image sensors are primarily designed for commercial or industrial applications. www.whoop.com/en-au/thelocker/what-is-skin-temperature-and-why-should-you-monitor-it/ harizanov.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Thermal-Infrared.jpg www.photonics.com/images/Web/Articles/2005/8/1/Optronics_Fig1.jpg
I already have a doogee v10 device, was very happy with it but the one and only thing i had to compromise was the unavailability of OIS/EIS STABILIZATION 😢 i would have given them 10/10 but due to the lack of video stabilization im afraid i will not buy doogee anymore 😢
I've seen the cheaper Chinese phones improve a lot over the years and I believe we'll see more improvements as time goes on (such as OIS). Interestingly I'm starting to see some EIS modes being introduced (such as on the Doogee T30 Pro) so it is coming but we have to be a bit more patient for OIS I think
@@AndroidAddicts Thank you! Well, please find below my most important questions, I hope you will have the answer! :- ) 1. Business usage. Can it run smoothly with Microsoft apps like Excel, One Note, Outlook, and also some authenticator apps like Oktaverify? 2. Outside screen visibility? I read it has around 500nits but how bright is it in sunlight? Does it remain usable? 3. Did you try with micro SD? Is it handled fast, not losing data, etc? 4. Does the upper small LED notification have a menu to customize or does it only have 1 built function? 5. Also has the phone always on display? 6. Multitasking. From Android 10 I think there is a possibility to use 2 apps parallel on the screen. Is this working here as well? I appreciate your time and effort! Cheers!
Don't spend your money on this device, I'll give you the reasons why. 1 the front camera has excessively yellowish tones, the main rear camera even takes good photos, but when we zoom in on the photo the quality is the most horrible it can be, in night mode both the front and main cameras lose a lot of quality and They are very grainy, the device's screen, despite being AMOLED, is exaggeratedly saturated, the Radio application does not work correctly, the only update that Doogee has available, does not even correct any of these problems. I've had the device for 2 months and every day I like it less and feel robbed by the Brand. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS BRAND, AS THE DEVICES ARE NOT WORTH THE MONEY THE BRAND CHARGES. Here is the advice given.
I wanted to buy one of these but what you said were all in my mind even without using it. Its a truth since i have a never seen any chinese brand phone which does not have any flaws.. always cheap meterials..
Most buyers won't care for most your points, but a) if you want cameras, stick with major brand flagships b) it was a disgrace that they marketed as "30x more thermal pixels than the competition", when Infiray PX1 came out they did not dare be so misleading c) it's stuck to Android 12 in 2024, and that settles it really, don't buy!
@@germank7924 Yes true indeed , at the time when i buy it , i had a lot of hopes for this one , but damned what a mistake i'ved done and Lost a lot of money... My bad, not again, the realy ones that i like it of the brand was the S68 and the first version of the S96. But unfortunaly later with some updates from the brand issues start to set on both phones.
@@AndroidAddicts No, it's a setting that's in the regular screen settings for Android. It's there for my Blackview 6600 and my Motorola Moto G Pure, but it was not there for my Doogee s98 pro, and that was a big problem because the screen on the Doogee s98 was skewed towards the blue colors. A white page looked sky blue on that phone and it really upset my eyes. I sold that phone to a friend for cheap because I hated the colors being wrong so much. I would love to get the V20, but only if the colors are correct or can be set to the warmer yellower colors through the "color temperature" slider, if it exists for their version of Android.
Ah I see. Well There's a "Screen Color Mode" which lets you choose "Standard, Vivid or Cool Color". There's also a "Color correction" setting which lets you enable color correction for different Correction modes (Deuteranomoly (Red-green), Protanomaly (Red-green), Tritanomaly (Blue-yellow) or Greyscale. Sadly not slider though so those are either on or off
@@AndroidAddicts sadly, that's no more than what the s98 had in options. Thank you very much for looking and responding back! I greatly appreciate it! ❤️
No worries! You could always use something like this if you want more granular control of your screen's colour: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hardyinfinity.screen.color
I've just double checked with the samples I took and the outputted files (both photos and videos) are at 1080x1440 resolution but only at 1.6MP. So the number of megapixels are what matter most in this instance...
Great video! Can the phone take a regular RGB photo at the same time it's taking a thermal photo? Flir cameras do this by default, I was wondering if the Doogee V20 Pro could do it too using one of the adjacent lenses to the thermal sensor.
Thanks a lot! I can't see a way of taking both at the same time - only PIP mode which has both in a single image. It is a cool idea though and wonder if the next iteration might have that feature...
It can take 2 photos at the same time, sorta. It actually takes both every time, but I can't separate them yet, I just got the phone. The RGB camera adds shapes and definition missed by the thermal cam. You can blend the mix between the two, and have a choice of the RGB photo used just for the shapes or as a regular pic with thermal added. Best thing is after the photo is taken you can change the mix, colour pallet, temp targets etc. You could screen shot it at that point and have just the RGB, just the thermal or a blend. The viewing app for the thermal pics is more than just a gallery, you have lots of control as if you are taking the picture again. I wish I could substitute the IR night vision camera for the RGB camera.
