Didn't he do the pacifist runs? Doesn't seem like what Doom Guy would do (really though, did he? I'm not good at memorizing memories and don't feel like rewinding)
i'm a year late and nobody got wooshed so since i like your comment i'll sacrifice myself for it. Omg you people are so dumb Nelson Mandela never talked about Doom !
And now we wait for a non-TAS pacifist run...we all know a madman will eventually attempt it. To put it into perspective, It took 4shockblast *50,000+* tries to do E1M1 in 8 seconds, a record that took almost 20 years to break.
So out of the 19 maps shown, 5 maps are technically impossible to do and 3 are not standard yet. If anyone does those 5 maps and has the proof of the deed, they're going to be written in history.
I love this 'yellow series', too. This videos are as informative as they are entertaining. Specially this shows that specific situations needed outstanding skills, luck and a lot of pasience to make the seemingly impossible possible. Thanks for sharing decino. 👍👊🤘❤
Imagine making a level in your commercial game so hard that an entire community of highly skilled players have deemed them impossible on the highest difficulty
Notably missing: a challenge deemed so impossible it was simply made an exception on the leaderboards: E1M8 UV Max, settling instead for 63% kills. Probably not necessary to say who eventually surmounted that challenge! (Hint: it starts with "Zero Master".)
Not sure how I feel about not being greeted when I open a Decino video, but I'm really looking forward to some more informative Doom content. This is gonna be good.
Uni starts tomorrow and I have to get up at 6:00 *Decino uploads* Well I wasn't planning on getting a healthy amount of sleep anyway EDIT:so that's what doomguy was doing in the thumbnail preview
Absolutely great video. There's still secrets for the official Doom games to give up, and still stories to tell. :] I'm so glad I discovered your channel, dude.
So, unlike the two other commercial Icon of Sin bossfights, TNT's MAP30 can be completed under UV Pacifist without TAS or insane shenanigans. But it's very, very specific. Here are some amusing details: 1) There are two extra rooms connected to the final area. One is basically useless, and the other one has a regular exit switch (for deathmatch). 2) But they are both located far enough above the ground to be unreachable. 3) You can only teleport into them from elsewhere, but both the teleporters are sealed off by design. 4) To access the teleporters, one must spawn in a deathmatch-only spawn and unlock them from inside. This cannot be done in single player mode. 5) Moreover, the rooms themselves close down completely by the two triggers inside the initial maze area (you know the one). 6) So in deathmatch mode you never activate the room-closing triggers but you unlock the teleporters. The rooms are now easily accessible. 7) But in single player mode, the teleporters are locked down, the rooms are too high above to reach, and they also close down anyway. 8) However... Here's where the fun starts... It is possible to skip about half the initial maze. 9) Luckily, the part that you can skip contains one of the two room-closing triggers! 10) Even more surprisingly, the trigger you can skip is the trigger that would close the room with the exit switch, and not the other useless one! 11) With one room still open, in the final area you can wait for the boss to spawn an Archvile randomly. 12) Once an Archvile is spawned, you can access that room by Archvile-jumping into it and exit the level with the switch! The UV Pacifist run was completed back in 2003 and probably wasn't widely "deemed impossible" but I still find it extremely specific and circumstantial that it can be done at all. Here's a video of this run: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1qAAtdfBBtg.html (diagonal maze-skip at 0:08)
Today I felt nostalgic, so I went and checked when I subscribed to you. I found out it was the same day this video was uploaded. But I watched some of your vids before this one. I vividly remember viewing Peter's 100% Nightmare and your Hell Revealed 2 (around levels 25-30) vids as they came out. I am happy to see your channel grow so nicely.
12:38 I was wondering plutonia map 26 looking for secrets like 30 minutes. and suddenly, this video pop up in my mind. Thank you decino. You are my savior.
Guess what is impossible: 1- make enemies retaliate against the Arch-Vile, not kill him by making them target you and hit him instead, but by literally infighting with him directly, really causing them to target the Arch-Vile. 2- rocket jump with a revenant missile. 3- cause enemies to retaliate against a Pain Elemental, directly infight with him. Lost Souls do not count as the challenge, it must be the Pain Elemental. 4- cause a Cyberdemon to kill another Cyberdemon. 5- cause a Mancubus to kill another Mancubus. 6- cause an Arachnotron to kill another Arachnotron. 7- kill the Icon of Sin with any monsters besides the Arch-Vile and the Cyberdemon. 8- cause two Arch-Viles to infight without killing one another. If anyone manages to get at least one of these things done without cheating and in the original ports of DOOM, feel free to reply me in the comments. (This is obviously a joke, lads, I know that these things are definetly impossible due to the programming of the game)
Dude goes to DOOM court, 'The Judge' (monk hooded goat) - ''I deem this.. IMPOSSIBLE!!', hammer down on ruling. - crowd mumbles to themselves. ''Order! Order!''
So.... The Doom 2 pacifist run ends by setting your own corpse on fire and launching it into the face of the last boss like a rocket? That's pretty badass. Lol
Even though I knew all of this due to my Turbo Nerd designation, I still watched because I like your analysis videos. In the Doom II section you forgot Monster Condo which had a teleporter tagged as secret that was discovered can be tagged by a linedef skip in 2002 by Xit Vono during a Tyson run interestingly - which must have been accidental since Tyson doesn't require 100% secrets
Monster Condo 100% kills/secrets was done by Daniel Lindgren in 1995 according to DSDA. I don't think that secret was ever considered impossible, just a hassle.
in the thumbnail the baron fireball position is changed so that it is aiming upward, i think in the future GZDoom can probably automatically position fireball sprites if they are fired upwards or at an angle, it would help with models looking up and down too. Maybe
Most of the words and feelings I had watching this video now are in the comment section. I can only say thanks for not only bringing old memories but also creating new vivid ones. THANKS (read this thanks with the howl/voice of every DooM monster).
Challenges accepted in the name of The Emperor of Mankind. I shall rip and purge like no other in his name. Also I'm subbing because I don't know much about doom but your voice is relaxing
5:40 I remember when Romero was told about a workaround finally being found for that secret and him saying that was how they always meant for the player to do ti. BS George! :P
