I played on an 8088 in dos when these games were popular. You need to write a batch file for a menu to launch each game from a menu

Wow, that's impressive performance that I definitely wasn't expecting of that board. I mean that DN3D is running something like 486sx/66 performance level. That's really impressive for so little and efficient card running _emulation_ 😮

@@leepspvideo Yeah, native execution is always way faster. Still it's impressive how well that performs on after such heavy emulation process. Computing has gone so far within these 20-30 years I've fiddled with computers.

HDMI Group 1 is CEA mainly Monitors, HDMI Group 2 is DMT mainly for TV's, From there you have all your Output's

What about giving Box64 a try? it is a Linux userspace x86_64 emulator for non-x86_64 systems, with good performance (uses native version of system libs). Also usable along with Wine.

Recalbox has Duke Nukem preinstalled and it runs just fine. It also has Quake and Doom and they also run really well.

640x480 was what most of these played at natively. some ran at 800x600 if i recall correctly.

You probably don't need a DOS emulator, either, since both Doom and Duke 3D have source ports on Linux.

In raspi-config HDMI was already selected. I did switch to headphones then back so I don’t know if it was working before. Should be fine on any tv or monitor with speakers

A good test of Graphics is if "The Lost Eden" would work. It supports DOS and resolutions of 640x480pix, which was very unusual at the time. Also, try out MDK, the first edition. It was made for x86 PCs of 100 to 233Mhz. While it won't run the 16 bit version, it might actually work well on the 256 color DOS version (much like DOOM would). Doom is actually made for a DX3 66Mhz. Also, aside from the CPU, you can overclock RAM and VCORE (video core) by quite a bit. Not sure if the Duke Nukem game was slowed down by the CPU or GPU. But increasing Memory speed, should increase game peformance.

dir /w (wide), /p pages the output for the vertical list, wide use the width of the screen e.g. gamedir1 gamedir2 gamedir3 ... once in the game directory like SM2/hospital, use dir *.exe to only show the executables
