Ballista makes the fight more manageable

Especially when he sicks his flaming dog on you all while multiple other Super Heavys all over you.

I've played on Ultra Violence and he really isn't that hard.

You just need plenty of practice, if done right a grenade will stagger him allowing you to get a shot in with the super shotty, also the super shotty and ballista are your best bet against him. Overall a really fun boss and he adds the right amount of chaos being introduced during ongoing battles.

Though I can see why they decided to do that, since having Doomguy run from an indestructible foe for most of the game kinda goes against his character’s reputation of “nothing on Hell can stop me” That being said, I think that the idea of fighting an enemy who matches you in firepower and mobility is kinda fresh

This was the slowest doom gameplay I have seen in my entire life lol. But that is the player though, not the game.

Cheesed with the ballista and SSG? That’s the only way to fight him lol it’s not a cheese. You try killing him with anything but those two weapons

Shadowzone25 you have to maintain a medium range with him. If you do he’ll attach way more often. When his eyes flash green hit him with the super shot gun and then follow up with another weapon until he dodges or deploys shield again. It only take 5 times on ultra violence for me to kill it.

You must be handling him wrong if he rarely attacks. Only thing truly annoying about him is the dog, but that's just one shotgun blast to shut em up, and you can't even use your fucking crucible on the asshole but hey that's the challenge and it makes him that more of a worthy enemy for the slayer. All you have to do is stay med-long range and bait him do that energy slash towards you because he's gonna come charging at you right after no matter what. That's when you ready up for the green flash then boom you got stagger and just repeat.

​@@offended323 You'd be surprised how common it is for a challenge to also be annoying lol, really the only thing annoying about him is the dog he sends you to. Other than that if he is really slowing your progression down that much you have got to be handling him wrong and if we're talking about "slow" progression the same can be said about doom hunters and tyrants who are pretty much ammo eaters. Even at that I'm not spending 10+ min on them and blame them for my progression being slowed down. All the player has to do is just bait the Marauder's slash for him to charge you with the green eyes and just hit hit them with a SSG/Balista combo or just a double SSG shot which I do more frequently, legit the only things you have to worry about are the dog and not getting too close for him to use his SSG. Yes it's annoying that you can't use your BFG, Unmakyr, Rocket, Ice Bomb, and Crucible against him but like I said that just makes him more of a *challenge* and makes people think twice about Doom just being a "mindless" shooter but a game that requires a bit of finesse and patience.

The tactic i used was using the pillars at 2:41 for cover then when he tries to swing his axe I would pop around the corner and blast him with the super shotgun. Basically I would dash from side to side to dodge his ranged attacks while at the same time staying behind the pillar, worked out quite nicely

Aaron Henderson he was so damn hard on Ultra Violence. Honestly I think he was the most annoying enemy in the game. But when ever I beat him it was the best feeling.

I found an easy way to cheese him. If you shoot rockets and the sticky shotgun around him while dashing, he'll get hurt from the splash damage. Took a little longer than expected, but did the job on my 5th try
