I'm about to make a Infinite Warfare and Black Ops 3 comprehensive comparison that's about to come out soon if you want to ever review Infinite Warfare in the future and include some talking points.
@@Deadsnake989 doomguy solves any problems he has by shooting it, need to ge tinto mars? Gun Need to get onto mars? Gun Need to mow the lawn? Gun Neighbor insult your pet bunny? Big gun
@@Deadsnake989 i think its funny oh hayden is just so sick of doomguy's shit No doomguy, you cant shoot a hole into.. Aaand he just did No, thats a weapon not a telep-.. Aand he just fired himself out of it Why do i bother?
"snapping their arm in half and impaling their head with their own arm bone" *plays the wrong glory kill on the whiplash* i love you gman, also I absolutely agree on the marauder - he does not follow his own rules, like he's throwing axe beams point blank then he runs off and shoots me with his shotgun, thank you id may I have another
I have spent a month Of my life bed ridden and unable to walk and yet still the last three days of the wait for doom eternal is the most painful stretch of time I’ve ever experienced
"a gun that has the ability to create instant erections~" This is exactly how I felt about the turret mode in Doom 2016. Pair it with the buff that gives you unlimited ammo for having over 100 armor and oh god it was so good.
Huge tip on defeating a Maruder, use only the Super shotgun and ballista 1. When his eyes flash green shoot him with the super shot gun then switch to the ballista and shoot him immediately 2. Rinse and repeat 2 times 3. Dead within 3 damage phases
Also control the ads like the wolf or it will seriously fuck your existence...as soon as he summons it focus on killing the wolf, and always keep the fight close, don't let him range you or you'll lose the fight, don't run away or he'll chip your health to death.
You can also deal indirect splash damage with the rocket launcher....just don't aim at him directly and shoot at areas in his back, he will always be facing you so cash on that.
In fairness, I suspect a lot of the criticism for the cinematics comes from how DOOM 2016 largely disregarded its own story. This was best communicated early on in the part where Hayden starts giving exposition only for the Slayer to grab the screen and throw it aside. This was both unexpected and a very refreshing defiance of modern gaming tropes. Also brilliant in DOOM 2016 was how they were able to communicate so much with relatively little. The part in the elevator where Hayden explains it’s all for the good of mankind but the Slayer looks at the dead body, cracks his knuckles and racks his shotgun was a perfect example of showing (instead of telling) us the character and motivation of the Slayer. The cinematic approach here is reversing course from what many loved about the previous game. That’s not necessarily a bad thing and I’m still eager to play, but I do understand the people who are turned off by it.
The main compensation though is that Doom Eternal will allow people to skip any cutscenes, unlike in 2016 where you ran into sections like watching Olivia Pierce do whatever for nearly a minute while you couldn't move or do anything about it. It's not like Eternal will be getting rid of the first-person story segments entirely, just that there'll be more third person cutscenes to show stuff they otherwise couldn't had they stuck in first person.
I also was blown away when i booted it up. And when i mastered the combat loop i turned it up from ultra violence to nightmare and was still crushing it. Unfortunately i stopped playing over the winter, but summer is here now and im traing my self up again.
"Why aren't you using the classic doom skin?" "Because my preorder bonus came with a demonic slayer skin and the only thing cooler than the Doom Slayer is the Doom Slayer on fire."
The real question is why didn't they implement a randomized melee combo system instead of same 2/3 punch combo. Its a giant missed opportunity to mix a kick to the face with a shotgun blast afterwards or a powered air kick to the chest at the end of harpooning a demon. That intertwined with the gun mechanics would've made every other fps game completely obsolete and add a shit ton more flow to combat.
People got physical copys 3 days early due to the pandemic...what do they do, make boss encounter vids and spoiler vids with the main event in the thumb nail, just like the inconsiderate pigs they are......and what does RU-vid do ? Nothing but Efficiently sort them in alphabetical order and ram them into the top of my youtube homepage....lol lmfao
Eh, the Icon of Sin in Eternal wasn't a big reveal. Characters start mentioning it long before you see it. It's in the codices, as well, as early as the second mission. There's not much you can really spoil about Doom. The experience doesn't rely on surprise to be effective. You know what you're getting. All that's left is going in to get it.
just do what I did with the first one buy it next year, I got the first one a year later for £5 all the games this dev makes drop in price super fast...... or..... or p... pirate Bay....
@@eduparada970 Funnily enough I actually did take it off on subsequent playthroughs because it helped me time my dash and meathook better, and because you tend to glory kill less in arenas with a lot of heavy demons
@@pootispencer9765 Exactly! However is always good to glory at least once each 10 seconds to take advantage of the rune, just be sure to do it properly and you are mostly overpowered
This guy is so Australian/New Zealander I wouldn't be surprised if he was two kiwis, a wallaby, and a particularly sarcastic kea in an emu suit eating vegemite out of the bed of a 1967 Holden Ute while blasting Down Under by Men at Work over the car's AM radio. Actually, Australia and New Zealand probably don't have any music stations on AM any more, just like the USA. It's all talk shows and sports.
"But these are people whose parents didn't love them and have an averse allergy to fun and sunlight." Ouch! You just described over half the internet people mate! HAHA!
Finishes the game on normal: "Wow. That was REALLY intense" Finishes the game on ultra violence: *Has fifty seven seizures and 367 heart attacks and falls into a coma for three months*
I’m worried because I suck at video games and it looks like there’s a really tall fence covered in electric barbed wire and a sign that says “no pussies” protecting the start button
Jocose Sonata Not really the case anymore, with all the stuff you have to do now to survive like using the chainsaw a lot more for ammo and the flame belch for armor. It feels much more like I am the one needing to survive here
@@KevBoy3D I kinda thought that was when Doom 2016 was at its best. My nightmare run was easily the most fun i had in that game and i was getting torn apart several times in every encounter. When you finally beat it, it feels like YOU won through pure skill instead of your character winning through being a god. I really like the difficulty in Eternal so far but i havent finished my UV run quite yet, then we'll see how torturous nightmare is.
True that. Then again, in Hotline Miami you can feel like a nigh-unstoppable killing machine and still feel that challenge, and don't feel like you're the one surviving. Also, off-topic: wouldn't it be cool if the Glory Kills in Doom Eternal was just like the executions in Hotline Miami? Instead of it being pre-animated, you have to press buttons to bash the demon's face in.
If they are alone just use the microwave mod on the plasma rifle, but since they are almost never alone you can easily kill them with either the RL lock on or the ice grenade
Also insanely optimized. Runs at like 300 FPS at max settings. Literally the only new game that I can think of that runs this f*cking well. I'm not even trying to brag either, I play on a slightly above mid-range pc.
@@beefjerfy3082 I'm being serious, in this age of soulless corporate money grabs infested with a never ending parade of loot boxes, microtransactions, season passes, and day one DLC, and of games that have been dumbed down and "streamlined" into oblivion in pursuit of the mythical "wider audience" it's nice to have a big budget game that actually stays true to its roots and remains loyal to its fans
@@Joe-xq3zu Yeah, I agree. I just couldn't tell if you meant that, or if you were being sarcastic because, well, that's what developers are supposed to do.
26:04 I was thinking a lot about these sections during my playthrough. They do seem tedious and somewhat unintuitive at first, but I think the main goal from the devs is to constantly remind you, the player, of the double jump and dash. The more comfortable the player is using them outside of combat, the more likely they will us them during fights when you really need to be mobile. It's not that elegant of a solution but I can't really think of any other way to get players more comfortable with the movement system and I think it does a good enough job at accomplishing that, assuming of course that's what their goal was.
Also is for level design intents like how can you move through Urdak without those giant portals or how can you reach some areas without those monkey bars?
"I'm glad they focused on the singleplayer instead of making a multiplayer mode this time around" ..."Oh yeah and I haven't even talked about the multiplayer mode yet."
Check out Shadow Streaming Service, rent a PC for 15 Bucks or so for a Month and just play through the Game and some others. Geforce Now sadly dosent have Doom.
This has got to be one of the best reviews of any game ive ever watched... not because of the praise because a review can be amazing when it trashes a bad game too but the use of analogies, verbage, and adjectives is just perfectly written and delivered. Thank you Gman for this badass review.
They actually implemented the "I hope we have the audience cheering sound as an option" meme from the E3 2015 reveal of the reboot. Those absolute madlads.
This is an important moment for gaming. Games like FF7 remake and this are bringing back the essence of older games, being difficult and challenging, sometimes overwhelming. But, it’s not impossible.
Yep I agree....all the moves...the flame belch, the ice grenades..the swapping weapons....too intricate for a fps....now Wolfenstein the first one that came out in 2011..was perfect. Doom 2016 was just right..this..the developers crammed six different sequels in one lol just run and gun...we don't want our FPS too technical...now don't get me wrong when someone masters this..it's a beautiful thing to watch
"Can't kill any of the tougher demons like the Marauder" You might want to refresh your memory with Mark's gameplay on that Gman because he kills one with a direct shot from the BFG to the face.
18:35 "What word would you use to describe having your blood and body fat instantly boil, making you explode due to intense microwave radiation exposure" GmanLives: "S H W A C K"
The amount of times Magnusson would be crying when he sees the “casseroles” turning into a massive splat on the floor and walls after they were microwaved by the plasma rifle
I would've loved more cinematics, seeing the doomguy being the doomguy is just too good, plus getting to see the badass new skins you get throughout the game getting shown off
It's unfortunate the full songs weren't mixed by mick. Things broke down between him and ID, and the OST release was mixed by someone that mick did agree could do it if the worst happened and he couldnt finish it
"The only question I have left to ask is, why aren't you playing it yet?" Well, you see, I would be playing it, if it weren't for the fact it releases two days from now.
Mystic System how lame is your PC? Doom is developed on the Unreal Engine which is known to run really good on low to mid range pc’s if you tweak the graphics a bit. edit: that’s the last time I’m listening to my younger cousin lol. Turns out ID Tech has been around for a long time. I’m gonna go correct him.
this game series did it once again change the gaming and made history that it did in 1993 forever in our minds of being the best at what it does rip and tear my friend rip and tear till there is no more
@@livanbard Yep, I'm sure it's gonna be a great ride, but everyone hyping this up as if it's a monumental achievement in FPS history is becoming quite obnoxious.
@Commissar Kitchen I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about the originals, but everything that came after. Also, if you seriously think Eternal is gonna have the same impact on the industry that Doom 1 and 2 did, you're downright delusional tbh.
So far, I still prefer Doom 2016 to Doom Eternal. 2016 was simple fun. I could just run around and do my thing. Eternal forces you into a specific type of play. Is it more strategic? Yes. But I don't always want to play chess. The platforming is meh, and some of the maps are just plain obnoxious. Also the multiplayer is effing terrible. The graphics and sound are both great, and the campaign has its moments. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't somewhat disappointed.
Well to me i would prefer doom eterna because it really makes me use all the different weapons in the game instead of just cheesing everything with the super shotty and gauss cannon
The only thing about the Doom 64 port: I wish they gave the shotgun and supershotty their reload animations back. I mean, they dont have to worry about the 64s limitations anymore
I love how everyone who lays eyes on the Slayer just back up or cower. It really makes the Slayer more of a legend. Also, the moment you brought up the microwave beam, I immediately thought of Dr. Magnusson, and then I saw him on screen.
I am very glad they worked the grenade launcher/ the Predator's shoulder-mounted gun into this installment & moved away from the throwing grenades from Doom (2016). Where I did utilize them, it was just too "blah" for Doom
"The wait is finally over." "Why aren't you playing it yet?" Gman's probably smoking that same doobie again that made him think Blood: Fresh Supply was good before it got fixed. Can you tell me where I can get some?
We gotta do a ritual to invoke the dark lord, Hodd Toward. He will grant us the gift of Doom Eternal, but we will be cursed to own a non deletable copy of Fallout 76. And we have to play it... or else we will be fucked
The fact that Joe Rogan was complaining about the music makes me irrationally angry. What the hell does he even know? He’s the same age as my dad. I listened to Doom 2016’s soundtrack just for fun. It kicked all kinds of ass and got me pumped. Joe’s just got to have an opinion on everything apparently. Christ.
Just completed the campaign. This is the best FPS experience I've ever had, to the point where it has ruined other FPS single player games for me. Now, again on a higher difficulty.
