It's lovely Kev, I like to see them wearing their age. If the knee holds out like it did today, you'll get a few more rides in before hanging up your boots. Best wishes, Dean.

Hi Kev. Whilst I’ve never owned nor ridden a motorcycle I did have the pleasure of tinkering with my parents Qualcast Suffolk Punch as a young teenager. I learned so much about two stroke petrol engines which came in handy when I got my first car a few years later. It’s remarkable how similar the start up procedure of the BSA is to the simple Suffolk Punch. Memories of a different, yet similar kind came flooding back. Thank you my friend. 👏👏👍😀

cheers Andrew. all old bikes are tractor engineering, thats why the Japs took the market, (hope thats not politically incorrect), but who cares!! we didn't modernise, same with all engineering over here in uk. atb🤣👍👍👍 Kev

Hi Kev. Runs very smooth for a Shooting Star. Our state Police had them back in the day. They always amused me the way the front wheel and forks danced around at idle. Triumph are still going well in the UK. Nostalgia is making a big comeback ATM and the classic look is back in vogue. Me, I've always liked and owned early Taglioni designed air cooled Ducati twins. Some nice bikes been made over the years by the Italian manufacturers. British and Italian electrics are pretty much on a par ;) Cheers Rob

hi Rob good point about the forks and front wheel dancing, still does😉👍🏍 it was all good till those innotive Japs got in the market, but if not then there would'nt be any nostagia. So swings and roundabouts😄👍👍🏍🏍🏍 cheers Kev

Nothing sounds like a British bike, especially British twins. That's when we made the best bikes in the world. Nice looking bike. BSA, triumph, and Norton's were still going strong in the 60s, before the Japanese imports gaining favour in the 70s.

we had an old BSA 350 we used to ride up and down the farm lanes, in the woods and fields when I was in my youth Kev. A really heavy old thing and completely unsuitable for what we used it for, but it was great fun with many a mishap, I.e. falling off, along the way. I remember one day it not starting and in an attempt to rectify that, it got pushed in a down hill direction in an attempt to bump start it.. it didn't work and, as we were ignorant of how to repair said none starting problem and the thought of pushing the thing a mile back up the lane, it got pushed in the hedge and left and that was the end of that. I may still be there. I too suffered from 'kick back' too often

@MrFactotum motor bikes or car engines with oil in crank case are wet sump. Motor bikes and performance raceing cars have the oil in a tank this is a dry sump motor . Oil leaks are a different issue ! 2 years working in Norton motor shop I fix some oil leaks !
@caahacky
@caahacky 18 дней назад
@@christophercullen1236 Yes it's a dry sump but " wet sumping " on these bikes is a condition (temporary) as Kev said when the oil from the tank has made its way past the oil pump and pooled in the sump while the bike has been standing.
