It practically is. This song is presumably based off of it. And yes, Doom's soundtrack is almost entirely not-metal. Metal-heads really messed with the direction of the series. Not that I was ever much of a fan to begin with though, but it would've been nice if DOOM 2016 wasn't so drastically influenced by brutal doom and the larger metal sub-culture. I maybe would've played it, if it actually mimicked the style of the original game the way it was. But instead what resulted was a game which mimicked things that never existed in the first place.
Analytic31 what are you talking about almost entirely not metal? I guess you think thrash metal and groove metal are not metal. I'll give you Doom 2, but the original Doom's music actually took inspiration from thrash metal bands.
Where are the Imps? I sawed those demon Where are the Cacodemons? I sawed those demon Where did all the Barons of Hell go? *chainsaw revving* I saw Jon, it's what I do
Tis so catchy, it is my ringtone. 2 problems with that though: one problem is that instead of picking up phone calls I bop to the music. The other problem is that I am often the only one dancing to it...
I played this song on the Bluetooth radio in my dad's car. And I can't belive he knew it! He told me it was from Doom, and remembered playing it when he was about 12.
23 years old, and it still has the best soundtrack in any FPS EDIT: Ok I'm wrong, I get it. I've been getting comments here for the past 4 years and it's getting on my nerves. EDIT 2: This has now been going on for 6 years, literally a quarter of my life at the time of writing. I've gone through an entire character arc and do not care anymore, so by all means, please keep going until the end of my days. When I eventually find myself on my deathbed, I'll revisit this thread for the very last time, reading once again timeless comments such as "You're wrong" and "The others are wrong, you're right", and I'll think long and hard about the impact this wonderful thread had on my life and possibly that of others.
@Twitch380 not really, just a common baseline, which is normal. Besides, Doom was released the same year as Big Gun, so it's most likely due to the music tastes of the time and the medium each song was made for
If we compare classic doom music with the recent doom eternal soundtrack, we clearly see a increase in bloodlust and a decrease in just being on an adventure to save mankind.
@@singleproppilot I can see where you're coming from but d2016 and eternal introduced new mechanics and a story far more appealing and badass than the old games imo. Nothing wrong with making something new in your games
It is fitting but if you speed up the track it seriously sounds like master of puppets as in the main riff, but many parts except for the main riff does sound big gun
Despite the name of this track, there is no chainsaw on E2M1 (Deimos anomaly) and it is not possible to obtain a chainsaw going into the level without cheats.
imagine if there is demon slaying mode where all the other character just beat the demon and throw them then there's doomguy violently take their spine and beat them with it and Isabella using doomslayer's super shotgun
WHO'S A MAN AND A HALF?! I'M A MAN AND A HALF! BERSERKER PACKIN' MAN AND A HALF! THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU THAT I CAN'T FIX... WITH MY HANDS! DYNAMITE!!!
I think , this is only soundtrack in DOOM i can not take serious. Because, after music started playing...i imagined drunk Doomguy , who dancing dosido or country with chainsaw xD
I remember getting Doom 3 BFG. In anticipation I studied every level inside and out and memorized the entire game. I played it all from memory, on veteran on the first try. I never flinched, I never died, I just slaughtered anything trying to kill me. When I did multiplayer, I dominated the majority of all the matches, I was Walking Armageddon.
DOOT they were too many, all i could hear was them dooting when i sawed them, when i sawed the doots, they started making a melody using trumpets, then we danced the "Doot Dance" it was cool, oh and now i have the "Revenant Dooters" number, i contracted a show from them to tonight party SEE YA ON DOOT
Y'know I always thought the way Doomguy is getting grabbed at in the box art was always kinda awkward looking, but after getting my hands on the game for myself I can assure you that's exactly what fumbling into a room with several dozen imps, pinkys, and barons feels like lol.
this makes me think of Shaun (DoomGuy) sprinting through a hallway with the BFG exploding pinkys and cyber demons. And gosh dang lost souls! THEY NEED TO PAY!
I know I'm supposed to comment some cringey in-character thing about Icon of Sin and his tastes in music, but this song is too good for me as the loser behind the computer screen. Goodness gracious, Bobby Prince knew what he was doing!
All I can imagine when the second part of the song starts is just the guitarman and the guitar catching fire that just increases in intensity every second he plays. This is what we classic game fans call "A banger."
I articulate this in a weird way I have noticed. I have a condition that makes me fail to see what I say deeply. I meant that "local person" feeling. Like you're the doomslayer yourself. A regular person. Possibly from the boonies. And you sawed those demon. And you sawed quite a sight indeed. Now you is...... concerned. xD
Just listened to Helstar's «Burning Star», and when the very first riff started playing, I was like «aha! This is definetely something from DooM!» It wasn't true, of course, it's a bit different in the later parts, but with it's faster tempo and distorted guitar it somehow resembles E2M1 even more, than «Big Gun» does. Well, that's why I love DooM OST.
