Doom SNES Soundtrack - E1M1 - At Doom's Gate 

This sounds like someone's playing doom in the room next to you.

Let's be honest here: the SNES had no business running DOOM. The fact that it can is mindblowing

They told me rock music would rot my brain. Doomguy blasted it out beforehand.

I'm still happily surprised about the extreme power of Super Nintendo in making awesome music tracks.

Take a moment to think about how difficult it must have been trying to make this sound like the original.

I gotta say, this sounds better than the basic MIDI music.

I remember growing up with this when I was 3 and my parents got it for me without knowing what it was at all. And I loved going around E1M1 shooting as many enemy's as possible.

I remember being a kid plugging in the cartridge and hearing this music play. I never played much because the SNES controller allowed for terrible mobility and the graphics were so low res that you could hardly see what was going on. I would boot up E1M1 and watch the status bar as Doomguy got shot and his face got bloodier. It was fascinating to me as a kid for some reason. It wasn't until recently that I remembered this port's E1M1 sounded different. Coming back to it now, it feels like the definitive E1M1 to me since that's what I recognized it as when I was a kid.

This version makes me think of Doomguy with his shotgun charging through fire and flames.

This is probably my favorite version of this song across all other early platforms. Not too crazy about the twang on the Genesis.

I aways thought snes music sounded like it was playing through a bucket of socks

At Doom's Gate and its instrument paradigm feels reversed on the SNES because the softer guitar doesn't have the power to carry as a main instrument and the supporting instruments now sound more resounding. As such it forces the guitar to take a supporting role of the instrumentation, while the supporting instruments are now the main instrumentation creating a more deep focus kind of vibe to it.

Wow, for the SNES to have this kind of cool music, that SuperFX chip must have meant big time business with everything.

As much as I like the angry metallic PC song, there's something about the smooth acoustic playing through the drums that haven't changed, it's reminiscent of cutting through butter with a hot knife.

I came from the 32x music. This is so much better.

I always loved doom along with other Nintendo series but doom has a good ost (note: put it on 1.25x it sounds intense)

I played this game so much as a kid, never did super well as I didn't know about secrets & ran outta ammo so often, but I LOVED the music - always kept playing despite how bad I was lol

The music is probably one of the best versions, but the gameplay itself on the SNES is slow because the game suffers from framerate issues, unlike the PC and 32x versions. Sure the music sucked in the 32x version but the game doesn't slow down though the resolution is too small.

This version makes it sound like Doomguy is beginning an adventure much larger than we see in the actual game

I really should re-up these video's as full video's & in HD but there are plenty of other video's online that are like that. At the time i had an older Pentium 4 so even with the short video's it took a while to upload. Also i don't want to get any take-down notices since i didn't create or rip these tracks. I don't make any profit off of these either so just enjoy them as they are.

I'll be honest here; DOOM SNES has some of the best versions of DOOM's Music. Also - SNES DOOM is still an old favorite of mine, the nostalgia of it all.

Back in the day its pretty cutting edge to have a FPS game experience on your console thanks DOOM

I was quite surprised that Randy Linden did ported DOOM to the Super Nintendo! that's how the game works via Super FX Chip.

The SNES Version shoved the middle finger up the 32X's ass!! This is one of the best songs I've ever heard in a videogame!!

Brings back so many memories, not to mention I had Doom for the PC when I was a kid and what really irked me was that even at the time the SNES was inferior to the PC but yet produced better sound.

The graphics might be bad, the sound might be blurry, the game itself might be slightly laggy and barely playable, but dat music tho. It's frickin' AWESOME, man!

I actually kinda prefer this to the PC version. The PC rendition is this incredible rocking track, but this sounds really interesting and different.

Nintendo definitely should have had a wavetable sound card for PCs using the SNES sound chip. Sounds like its on par with a Gravis Ultrasound or a Roland SCC1

Given the SNES was the better console for replicating Orchestral Music, conpared to the Megadrive which was the better console for replicating Rock, this is a bloody good attempt.

Always loved the strange censorship on the box art, instead of his arm being gripped by a demon, Doomguy just looks that much more severely pissed off while shooting

Anyone prefer the SNES instrumentation of this song over the PC version. I feel like the SNES's instrumentation just creates this really "creepy sound" to the guitar that really complements you blowing imps and zombies in the face with a shotgun and dodging fireballs

I really don't know how to feel about this version. I like the fact that it has backing harmonies for the main guitar riff, because that's something that the original midi version doesn't have. However at the same time this sounds like you're listening to some random garage band performed from outside of the garage, with all the echoing that entails. I know it was running on SNES hardware and this was the best it could do but still it feels a little less punchy than the original.

PC version may have the best controls, but SNES version has the best music. This variation of At DOOM's Gate embodies DOOM well imo.

Not the best port of Doom ever made, but the fact that it worked at all on the SNES as well as it did was nothing short of amazing.

This music is way better than the original, and the the genesis version should have sounded like the PC version.
