You mentioned how the environment looks less linear, almost open-worldish. I feel like it has to be mentioned that Doom Eternal tossed around a less-linear design in its early stages of development. It almost seems like Dark Ages is going to try to be everything Doom: Eternal aimed to be. What Doom: Eternal should have been. It's an interesting thought, at least for me. I've always been a small bit disappointed with Eternal, since it doesn't have the same heart of the 2016 reboot, and hence lost some of the care and effective detailing. But this new development seems to be coming back to what made 2016 great: detailed environments that show amazing attention to detail and important visual themes, a level of grit that applies to the look and feel of everything, and even small details that shape the environment like colored light and fog. It's freaking gorgeous. The new armor screams BEAST, and the weapon selection will leave little to be desired. The only thing being that this will likely be the first game to not include the BFG. The new enemies and designs only offer more fodder for demon evolution theories(which go a long way in bridging the gap with Doom 3), and all of them look fierce. Everything is set for a legendary experience.

@@VVitchaven From where ? It was in the dark as it should be for a doom game. Instead of turning into a horror game like Doom 3, it is more realistic and scary. The demons are torn apart by the doomslayer. It is better than what was shown in the E3 trailer. Doom, this is not Resident Evil.

One thing I noticed is that unlike Eternal, this one seems more slower and hard hitting. I remember during an interview that Hugo attended, he said that he wanted Eternal to be like a racecar, fast paced but soft hitting, and that he wanted the next game to be more hard hitting, but slower. I'm pretty excited to see how this concept will translate into the full game and how this will expand the lore even more.

I feel like its remaking the feel of medieval armor: a bit sluggish but damn well packing (Greatswords, Maces, Ballistas, etc.) (and to anyone who would correct me, yes I know its a bit stereotypical and maybe knights moved faster than we thought they did. But its badass and its fun, like a juggernaut.)

My idea is that the final level is the battle of Taras Nabad. And Samur Makyr takes you to the Divinity Machine. In there the Doom Guy officially becomes the Doom Slayer. And armed with nothing but his Crucible the Slayer faces the great Titan as the games final boss. He never needed the ShieldSaw again because now he’s too fast to be hit and too strong to be damaged. Or maybe he just lost it or it got destroyed idk

this is a theory, but the skullcrusher could be a less advanced version of the doom eternal unmakyr, it said that the unmakyr is an updated version of a sentinel weapon, and the skull crusher does simmilar things to the unmakyr

Doom Slayer isn't just a God. He's God's soldier with the armor and power of God. Edit: Doom Slayer is similar as a God's soldier from the bible because his armor has the same meaning as God's armor from the bible. I actually think that he is almost similar as the Archangel Michael, since the Archangel and the Doom slayer has similar powers and they are both able to defeat demons thag easily

Hmmm, interesting take. I’d say DoomSlayer in Beserk more is more comparable to Michael. However I love the comparison as a Christian for sure. Just got into Doom over Easter actually, figured ripping and tear in hell would be a fun way to remember my saviour. (Peace and love regardless how y’all feel about religion)

@@mountainace6296 other planets are in the same dimension as earth but there are different dimensions as well. Not 100% on this but I think Argent D’nur may be an alternate version of Earth. Hell is also another dimension that expands by attacking and absorbing other dimensions into itself

Doomguy's arsenal reminded me a lot of good old Painkiller from 2004 and its remake Hell and Damnation, specifically the nail gun, shield-saw and morning star. It's like devs of Painkiller collaborated with devs of Doom, and it's absolutely metal. Also the cape reminded me of Guts and his Berserk armor.

The thing is actualy the doom hunter and the mancubus is a normal basic one before the uac upgrade the ones we see in 2016 and Doom eternal are uprgraded version of the basic mancubus

No matter when (let alone where) the Slayer is, he shall always be armed with a saw-based weapon and a Super-Shotgun of some sort. This Super Shotgun seems to have hatches for loading rather than the classic-Eternal method that has been staple for so long; perhaps he'll unlock it later? I've pointed it out elsewhere, but the skull-fuelled rifle seems to be an improvised article built out of a DOOM 64 chainsaw.

Glory kills are apparently interactive and you have more freedom in how you want to kill demons. There's a scene where doom guy hits this one demon twice with his flail and kicks it so melee combos maybe?

@@attackhelicopter588 That would be awesome. More interactabilty with enemy kills would be great. Like grabbing demons, mauling them, and throwing their corpses into other enemies, kind of like the grab from Crysis but way cooler and more brutal. Hopefully they also make Berserk mode more dynamic since it did feel weird how the Doom Slayer would just stop moving to tear a demon in half while standing still in Doom Eternal with the Berserk powerup.

The Mancubus fire barrages, the green Hell Knight flames, the slower Imps, I think this is the generation of demons between classic Doom and reboot Doom, which is just absolutely awesome to finally see. Also, I think you're right about the Doom Hunter, the shape of the horns is near identical.

What really sold me was the fact that not only that they gave him a melee weapon (not counting the chainsaw from previous games) in the form of a flail, but also that we have a shield/saw, which we can use it to defend ourselves, bash enemies, and throw it like boomerang, I loved it ❤❤❤. A great improvement over the wrist blade imho.

Skull shredder gun = flak cannon Nail gun / penetrator Dark medieval environments Enemies that are more medieval and less sci-fi If we get warp gate power up, this may be called Doom but it takes a lot of inspiration from Quake. Quakecon this year is going to be awesome

The Skullcrusher gun and the huge waves of enemies makes me think they took massive inspiration from Painkiller, which I think is the exact right choice for Doom moving forward.

My favourite part has to be the art style; Eternal’s was a little too cartoony and over-the-top for me. This game seems to lean more into the brutal theme even more than 2016.

I havent watched the video yet Im gonna predict what is he gonna say: -the trailer is good but its hiding the story. -there wasnt enough cutscenes. -i wish mick was back or andrew hulshult did a good job with the music. -why does everything look different (guns.demons) -the slayer looks good. -im hyped. -where does that skull weapon get its skulls. -is there gonna be new demons. -there are a lot of refrences to (cap america. It looks less arcade like, which i appreciate. I liked eternal, but that was one of my biggest criticisms of it. It looks like the monsters are not ammo fountains, which i like. I hope it has more traditional pick ups. Im really excited for this. It looks AWESOME 🤘

When I say the end of the Ancient Gods part 2 DLC, I had a theory that it is an infinite loop of the Doom Slayer killing the Dark Lord at the end in order for the loop to start over with him perhaps becoming the new Dark Lord and a new Doom Slayer fights the same fight until the loop inevitably starts over again…

As much as I like the hookshot, I'm glad they are going in a different direction with this sequel. A more grounded, parry based combat could be a nice change of pace, and it would make it more distinct from Eternal.
