This is heartbreaking. Indigenous people should be recognised, but not in the Constitution because it is legally risky, could open the door to endless court battles and compensation to be paid by all Aussies, and legally puts some Aussies above others: it will turn Aussie against Aussie instead of uniting us. A voice in Canberra won’t change things (there are already local state and federal MPs, a federal minister for Indigenous affairs, and other things. Will more bureaucracy help? Let’s be real) but can the Voice and what follows can easily make things much worse. What is needed are local voices as shown here. John Anderson did a great video called Four Myths of the Voice for anyone seeking more info.
RHD should not be happening in this day and age.,housing checks for cleanliness and people to help is what’s needed. No one teaches the indigenous remote people to clean . It dosent come naturally like us . Most of my clients don’t have a fridge or washing machine . I have been here for 4 years and it breaks my so many people need so much help which is not here. Imagine getting an injection every 3 weeks from a different nurse for the last five years of your life . This is what RHD people have to Endure but with little or no staff, no permanents only agency it’s bloody hideous .
Gotta ask, where is here? 35 years ago visited homes and tried to educate on how to clean and provide safe and hygienic home. Pretty sure today's laws wouldn't let me do what we did then. But yes, rotating staff doesn't help. No quick solution unfortunately. And most longer term solutions seem to be white anted.
