This game feels very "serious", not just because it involves desperation and extremes, but it also throws around terms like oneiromancy and mucilage and expects people to roll with it. It sets an appropriate tone.

i dont know why but the cobra's hood at the start of the video bothers me lol. anatomy wise, how does he wear his clothes.. this cannot be unseen.

Isn’t “sending people on a suicide mission” the plot of darkest dungeon also? Those are the two main ways to explain a rogue-like/lite: it’s either some form of loop or explorers on a suicide mission. How exactly you explain it is what makes it unique

Maybe more DD2 than DD1, since you have a lot of reasons why you want to keep your characters alive long-term in 1.

--- Game DEVS: A suggestion: during the Load Screen, you guys placed a dung-beetle rolling a purple spherical jewel around, correct? Instead of the beetle pushing it to the left, why not invert it and make it push towards the right, AKA to the FUTURE. This is a tiny bit of subliminal information, that the game is moving onwards, and not backwards. Simbolisms are important.

as I understand it, it's the dung-beetles who bring back the knowledge when a caravan dies.

people that don't want their game to sound like two kids talking, probably. Using old or less-used words and phrases make you feel like this is an exotic place, which is one of the design goals also with the characters
