You don't defeat Manhattan with force. You defeat him with logic and reason. We saw on Mars where Manhattan has his mind changed about nuclear war by Silk Spectre. He's capable of changing his mind. You just need a charismatic logical person like Batman or Lex Luthor, to talk Manhattan out of his mindset. Manhattan's a scientist, remember? He can't reject a sound argument.

You can't shut down Doctor Manhattans powers. He doesn't "have" powers, he is power. Hes the very laws of physics and relativity anthropomorphized

The most powerful thing Dr. Manhattan said as a clue to his power was "I felt fear for the last time." He became this overwhelming being of gloomy serenity with a absolute clarity, omnicence and omnipotence. Understanding is control and he understand everything.

I don't see Dr. Manhattan as having power, I see him as the embodiment of power.

The only lesson I took away from this is that comic timelines are now so convoluted that even Dr. Manhattan would have his head done in by trying to follow them.

The problem with the Doc Manhattan question is even trying to determine what his current capability is. In his original storyline from The Watchmen, his power grew exponentially over time, eventually causing him to lose not only his humanity and morality but his grasp of mortal concerns and perceptions. He knew this acutely, as only a being of his power and reach could, and he separated himself from earthly concerns at the end of that storyline. From what we are seeing from the introduction of The Button, he's clearly continued on his arc of power evolution well past what he was capable of in The Watchmen. In my opinion this puts "nemesis" type characters such as Cameron Chase and Rogue WAY under his league. Cameron Chase can't turn off the Sun if it scares her anymore than she can deactivate the universal force of gravity because she is afraid after falling off a mountain. Her relationship with the laws of reality are identical to her relationship and interaction with Dr. Manhattan. He's beyond a force of nature. He's an architect of the underpinnings of reality. She couldn't even attempt to screw with him unless he went out of his way to not only make himself perceptible to her but also manifest some construct for her to battle, which would be the equivalent of a person shining a laser pointer for a cat to chase. No matter how well that cat performs it's not hurting the person holding the laser pointer. The Presence is the only character that's actually in the same league as Doc Manhattan and that question is kind of semantic. Who wins in a housebuilding battle between a bricklayer and a carpenter? Probably neither but the house is destroyed in the process, in which case even if one beat the other it wouldn't matter because existence wouldn't even exist anymore to record the event.

Actually, the mind wipe wouldn't have affected Lucifer Morningstar. He exists across every universe and timeline. He's a cosmic, multidimensional being. He definitely would have been aware of Dr Manhattan's actions, but I seriously doubt even doctor Manhattan could do anything to Lucifer Morningstar. at best, it would be a tie, in my opinion.

If she took his powers away, I think he’d return to pure energy and be unharmable till he decided to reform himself so this would be a temporary setback for Dr M.

Even if you defeat him, what would that accomplish? He can reassemble himself at the atomic, if not subatomic level. That's how he came to being in the firstplace--it's the first trick he learned. You could by all intents and puposes only have defeated one of a million duplicates of himself while various councils of 10,000 of himself watch, analyze, and discuss the whole thing from various dimensions in distant galaxies. And when it's over the one who was destroyed will reassemble himself and give a commentary of the whole experience to the rest of himself.

Time travel would not be able to defeat Dr Manhattan. Dr Manhattan exists outside of time, seeing the past, present, and future as the same thing. He would be able to see anyone going back in time to stop him becoming Dr Manhattan and would just stop them from going back at all.

Dr. Manhattan will just cause the book to keep being delayed. That way he'll never be defeated.

I can name 7 ppl that can defeat Dr. Manhattan... The Endless Dream, Death, Destiny, Destruction, Despair, Desire, Delirium... Even the youngest Delirium can overwhelm him. They aren't the manifestation of the word they are the word they predate everything.

Lucifer, the Endless... Not sure about the youngest of the Endless but starting with Destruction and his elders Manhattan has no chance.

As demonstrated in watchmen doctor Manhattan can be foiled in regards to his perception of time, so a powerful enough being could stop his ability to know what is going to happen. He has also been made to see a course of action as reasonable/undeniable as with Ozymandias and agree to follow it. Another option,and my preferred, is that Dr Manhattan 'saw' the first amount of damage done by the flash and attempted to repair the clockwork, but the multiverse was already broken so he's trying to fix a clock with too many pieces from an infinite number of clocks and he needs to be made aware that this is an unfix-able problem.

At such levels, the concept of "defeat" for such entities is beyond our puny understanding.

If Lucifer can create an entire new universe separate from the existing one then he has more than enough power to defeat Dr Manhatten.

Dr Manhattan was never a villain however, at times he's been weird, and a hero, and a times kinda an anti hero, but he has never actually wanted to destroy all life. He gets aggravated at humans and their perception and stuff, but he's never wanted to smash them.

I think Spectre would be DC’s guy to do it. It would be an interesting fight, but a fight, and I think Spectre would take it. If it went straight to The Presence, he’d just wipe Dr. Manhattan out without having to say a word or lift a finger. He’s essentially a stand-in for the power of the writers as much as he is for God.

Time travel wouldn't even stop Manhattan. Once he became Manhattan he connected with every version of himself throughout the multiverse, powered or unpowered. I don't think stopping him in one time line/multiverse will actually have an impacted because he was connected to thousands of himself.

I like the idea from below that Dr. Manhattan is a visitor to the DCU and bound by the limits of the universe he left. Alright, this comment is necessary, so here goes. Been reading DC for 30 years. NO ONE is stopping Dr. Manhattan, period. It is that simple. The only one stopping him is himself, and that is when and if he chooses to stand down, as it were. To stop himself. As for the nobody character that could "take his powers"? I'm sorry, but no. She can temporarily shut the powers of superheroes, etc, but Dr. Manhattan is BEYOND this. He is NOT mortal, he does not 'have' powers, he IS the power. He is literally what we would define as a god, as they call him in the comics. She is not even getting near him unless he chooses to allow it. OK, needed to be said. Cameron Chase can't defeat Dr.Manhattan because of two reasons: 1.In the comics it has been stated that Dr.Manhattan exists in a whole another Dimension....which is WAY beyond the reach of any 3 dinmensional beings like super man or Cameron Chase because their powers work and are sourced from the 3rd Dimension. 2.Cameron Chase's power is to shut down the power's of others when she is under stress or threat....but the way beings like Dr.Manhattan work it doesn't seems he has any power's instead it seems HE IS POWER himself and we can't neglect the fact that this power exists in another Dimension so it's unlike anything anybody has faced.

Magic does absolutly nothing to Manhatten as recent Doomsday Clock proved. But he still stands below creation and it's servants. Heck even the Spectre could deal with him if given enough power.

Chase couldn't do anything to him. He is the embodiment of time and power. He sees everything that has happened, is happening and will happen. He already knows what she's going to do before she ever does it. Anything she could do would be pointless. All he has to do is think her out of existence. I truly believe he is the most powerful comic book character ever created in DC or Marvel.

You cant shut down his powers because he exists in all times at the same time it's just how Manhattan his. You could say we all exist on our timeline at the entirety of our lifetime but we are not conscious of the entire time nor have knowledge of the entire future and past like Manhattan does. He could simply manifest somewhere else before depowering chick gets in range.

The creator of this video got something wrong: the blue body isn’t the real Dr. Manhattan. It doesn’t matter if you „shut“ his powers down. Think of it like drawing yourself into a comic book (but still being yourself in 3D) and pretend like the characters are living in the comic book (there’s something like time and they can move around in 2D) now someone shuts the power down of the drawing of yourself you made in the comic book. So what can you do? You could erase the person who did it, alter it in anyway you like, or just be like I don’t care. Let’s draw another „me“ in the comic book. No one is able to come out of the comic book (which is 2D) and punch you the person sitting in front of the comic book (in 3D) in the face. Basically being from a higher dimension means you’re a god to the other lower dimensions. The question who the most powerful entity is is pretty damn simple: who lives in the highest dimension? It’s either the overvoid or Manhattan (Manhattan being in the same dimension as the monitors seem unlikely given the fact that it looks like no one is messing with him in the real world (eg. the blue comic book Manhattan is like „Sorry guys I will pause your multiverse for a second a few monitors want to talk with me“) or he’s not talking about other beings in his dimension (or he is the only being in his dimension who knows)). As some of you can see I’m not even going to mess around with comic book stuff as it’s just blank science/philosophy. So if DC is not messing with what a dimension is and how different dimensional spaces interact with each other (3D can see 2D but 2D can’t see 3D or interact with 3D in any way) it’s pretty easy to see that he is as omnipotent as it can get
