Ever since 2020, I haven't questioned one prepper one single time.

A massive ice storm closed roads and knocked out power for 2 weeks when I was a kid. We all went to a neighbors house cause they had a fireplace in the basement. I still remember being hungry and cold. I'll ALWAYS have food in storage and a place to make a fire. Boggles my mind how anyone can think that's crazy.

I’m in Illinois and we recently had a very very minor snow storm. The night before it hit I ran into the store to grab a couple things I needed and the shelves were empty. The place was packed and people were panic buying. Small reminder of how quickly everything can go to hell.

I'm a prepper. For anything. I live in South Dakota where we have lost power for weeks in the winter. So I have a generator that will run my house that I can run on gas or hook up to natural gas and back feed into my house. Cost 800$ I have security tools, food, medical supplies, and I keep cash and gold and silver at home. Have used my preps several times. Was without a paycheck for all of 2023 used my stored food, cash etc so I had no issues.

I began prepping in 2020. When people laugh at that, I tell them to think about what they saw in Walmart in 2020. It looked like World War Z, and I'll never fall victim to that again!

Rule number 1 about being a prepper is not to tell anyone about it. When sh*t goes south the people you blabbed to will be coming to your door, potentially with the intention to harm and steal. Keep it sush. It's only for your most loved ones to know about.

I have been a prepare since 2020, I have feeling that part of 2020 was a social experiment to see if people are prepared or not. just to open their eyes and start preparing for what's coming.

I live in Kentucky knob country which is very steep mud hills about 400 to 600‘ tall. I dug into one with my backhoe and poured concrete and a footer and then started stacking up 2‘ x 2‘ x 6‘ concrete Ben blocks to make a retaining wall. Then I placed a 20 foot container in there and put the bin blocks in front of it. I bought some 4 x 8 I-beams at an auction and I’m using that to pour concrete and support the roof.You can’t just bury a container, it will collapse the sides with the water and dirt pressure and it might float up if you’re in a place with a lot of rain. It really needs to go into a Hillside or someplace where there’s drainage. I did this at first to have a place to hide some of my gear. What’s nice about it is it is going to be far from luxury, I’ll be pooping in a 5 gallon bucket. But it’s a pretty substantial property improvement that didn’t cost me very much because I did all the work and the county doesn’t know about it so they can’t very well charge me taxes on it.

Fear is a billion dollar industry, you don’t have to go crazy start by buying goods and food that you use on a regular basis and creat a small stock pile that you can rotate thru

Buy plenty of pasta and rice, seal them in Mylar bags with oxygen eaters seal with a hot iron. Easy and will last for 20 years plus if done correctly.

If you buy an EV for a “bug out” or survival vehicle, you deserve what comes next.

For 99% of us "bugging out" to some remote location won't be possible. Roads will be a mess and it might take you some to get your family together in one place. Be prepared to hunker down in place. Have the following: Stored water Stored food Basic medical supplies Basic means to cook / boil water without electricity or gas lines Self protection (I say no more) A gas generator and/or solar panels and energy storage Small radio (AM/FM/Weather/Etc) Personal comms devices other than cellphones

It's always good to have a bunch of bottles of alcohol in your survival stash, even if it's just cheap vodka. It serves multiple purposes; can be used for cleansing wounds, making medicinal tinctures, calming nerves, general disinfecting and makes a great bartering tool!

I don’t have an underground bunker but I have a paid off and modified Hummer H2 and 2nd home i bought cheap in Southeastern Ky in tiny town, surrounded by mountains, hrs away from any major city.

Living on a farm, you always prep for the winter months ahead and up'd my game after the global financial crisis. Since 2019, I've definitely up'd my game! Old Klausi boy has been talking food shortages for 2 years. It's not hard to see they're coming.... let alone the warnings on the cyber attacks etc.

Now that this is "mainstream," I know we're much closer than I ever wanted to be to this... I've been a "prepper" since 2004

As a poor I would much rather have a dirty diesel from the 70's or 80's than any modern vehicle. It'll burn anything for fuel and they're mostly mechanical so I can probably do my own repairs.

Start simple. Food and water for 2 weeks. Then build up to 3 months. It will save your life AND bring peace of mind.

These vehicles would be useless if EMP was used

Everyone with a well ought to have a homemade well "bucket" and enough rope to drop down into the 4in or 6in pipe to get enough water to survive..at least be that prepared. 1. Know how deep your well is and have that much rope 2. $100 to buy pvc parts to build your own "bucket" with a rubber flapper or foot valve and rope. Learn how to pull the electric motor and cables by hand so your bucket will fit. Or spend a couple grand and add a hand pump if your well isn't more than 250 feet deep. 3. Plan a windlass to roll up or lower the well bucket. 4. Have cash on hand. Some silver and couple months of food.

I visited one of the fully supplied bunkers that every building has in Switzerland...that was in 1972...that is what a gov. that really cares for the citizens does.

I am prepping for short time hazards by stocking up on unperishable essentials, but when push comes to shove, some of my high-rise neighbors and neighborhood unfriendlies will kick my door in, and this neighborhood is upscale. God and the saints are our last balm against the coming onslaught.

Been personally through a hurricane,several tornadoes including the worst on record at the time, been snowed in, fires, floods, and several earthquakes large and small. Preparing keeps the impact of the speed bumps of life to a minimum. It is also an insurance against rising prices and inflation. It is also good if you get sick and don’t feel like cooking a big meal. As a kid, my dad made sure we had skills to camp, etc. We were in scouts and learned skills there, too. My grandparents grew their food and canned it. I did not learn from them but learned recently on my own. A lot of people in the 1960’s had bomb shelters, or storm shelters. It was normal back then. In Silicon Valley, a number of our friends had bomb shelters. We didn’t have one, but I thought it would be cool to have one. Even our school had one under the classrooms. In school, we had civil defense drills. What is pretty strange to me is that all the bomb shelters for the public are gone now. The only shelters, now called bunkers, are for government to ensure continuity of government, not continuity of the populace.

i'm not a prepper but it does not take much to have an extra propane tank, dry food/water, first aid/medical kit, outerwear, camping kit. most people are not prepared for a power outage lasting more than a day.

Like Pat said you don't buy life insurance because you're worried about dying tomorrow. Broke my leg, both bones at the ankle and had surgery with several screws and hardware in 2015. Bad car accident with TBI and injured back in 2016, both those events seriously limited my ability to work, self employed with very expenses major medical insurance. 2017 started storing shelf stable mostly dry food in jars with O2 absorbers. By May 2020 I elevated my game to stocking canned goods, condiments spices fats and learned how to pressure can meats. My family think I'm a little crazy but one kid sees the value and started their own stock. In my late 60s I feel good about having a supply to sustain myself, family, friends and neighbors should we need it. Meanwhile I've saved hundreds on the simple and basic items that now cost 30 to 100% more. The bunkers are amazing for those who have the financial means

Grid down for an extended period worries me. There are RU-vid videos detailing what would happen if this should occur. It's damn frightening, especially when you think how vulnerable our power grid is and the sleeper cells that have formed from terrorists crossing the southern border.

Getting to those remote bunkers implies that apocalyptic events will unfold gradually over time. Best to have a survival room in your house's basement allowing you to survive for a few days, At least you can get inside within minutes.

I always have food for a couple of months at hand and some equipment to heath a room and solar generator but have stored it on my sailingboat where i am most of times.

I find it interesting that Zuckerberg chose Hawaii as his shelter. I see Hawaii as a key military assett. Therefore, expect multiple battles to be fought there if the U.S. goes on full-scale war. Unless is a civil war?

I think the brakes done with these is to be just self-sufficient as much as you can afford to be. We bought to freezers that we stocked up with meat and other foods we bought those used on marketplace then we bought two more IKEA cabinets, retrofitted the shelves. We also bought those used on marketplace. We converted a spare bedroom into a stock room. It is my pride and joy now . Dry goods, canned goods, frozen goods, soaps, shop supply, a spare generator in the shed, all the redundant things that go along with that we feel prepared

People who live in big, ugly, homeless, and criminal-infested cities will be the most at risk in a doomsday scenario. Two weeks without electricity and a halt in the supply chain, most people, especially those under 35, will sink into complete madness. Small-town country folks like me will fare just fine because a "country boy will survive!"

I have to say though, I'm starting to believe that this pressing business is in fact a business and creating fear in us to escalate business. The working class are driven by fear to focus their entries lives into "preparing" for a worst case scenario. Do you really think these billionaires are going to allow their bunkers to be found? Get as close to the equator as possible. There's a reason all pyramids are within the same distance from the equator and have all survived the test of time. Hawaii is within that range, that's why it didn't surprise me when the elites burned it for their own use.

There's a difference between being able to weather a temporary situation or storm, and freaking out about the end of the world. Our great great grandparents (that lived mostly rural lives), had stashes of things just in case because this is common sense. There are cycles of lean then abundant. I get that, and I keep prudent stock of various items we might need. However!!!! As a nurse of 17yrs and having gardened and kept small livestock like chickens, I roll my eyes some at the people that think they will survive a long term, end of the world scenario. I also doubt the world would end. It could I suppose, but history teaches me that when the world crumbles it rebuilds itself asap. When the power goes out, people work to immediately get it back up..they don't just throw their hands up and let the city explode into chaos. IF I lived during the 1930s/40s it would have seemed much more like the world was ending, yet we pulled through and had the abundance of the 50s on. Things come in cycles. Here's why I chuckle at the people that think they would survive a long term thing if it actually happened...I know how often we rely on our advanced medical systems and tech. If you don't have a surgeon, medical equipment, antibiotics, CT scans etc you can SO easily die from a cut, a broken bone, childbirth, a rotten tooth/dental abscess, miscarriage, slipping and falling, appendicitis, gallbladder/liver/kidney/pancreas issues, urinary tract infection, STDs, pneumonia, dysentery, vomiting/dehydration, heart attack, and on and on. Sorry, but you cannot guarantee an unexpected medical event won't happen! Sure you can try to stay healthy, but s**t happens. Welcome to the pioneer days where only the fittest survive with some additional luck if the medical system goes down. Think about lack of dental work alone ripping out rotten teeth without numbing...eek!! I also know people that seem to think they could garden up a year's supply of their family's fruit and veggie needs as well with a simple home garden. Obviously they have never tried to grow things on their own...it takes a lot to grow things in most parts of the country. There is pestilence, weather issues, soil issues, critters, and it is back breaking and time consuming to do. Most people would still need farmers for the bulk of their food needs ultimately try as they might. ***The death rate would be so high for most of us if we allowed "things to collapse" without our modern medical and food systems I instead say we should work our hardest to NOT let it get to that, because statistically speaking most of us and our loved ones will be in the dying, not surviving category. The elites are dill-holes too if they think they can weather through things in an advanced bunker. Long term human civilization thrives or dies based upon how many people we have to maintain an advanced and highly specialized economy. No man is an island! When people say...well yeah...but our great great grandparents did this or that they forget that the economy STILL did function to give them goods, doctors, and meds...AND!! A lot more people died all the time from things that are so preventable now we take it for granted!
