Dooney & Bourke Zip Zip Satchel Strap Attachment Problem and fix

The Zip Zip Satchel has been popular for many reasons, but there is also a problem with the strap attaching to the handle which causes the handles to flap out. This video addresses the problem on the Zip Zip, Willa and other bags with the same issue. Here is a description to Amazon for the 20 mm outside diameter: L-A 4Pcs Spring Clip Round Carabiner Ring, Diameter O Ring Snap Clip Trigger Spring Keyring Buckle Organizing Accessory/Metal Secure Holder/Durable and Rust-Proof (1/2" Gold)
If any of your straps need additional adjustments, you might consider a good leather hole punch, great household item for belts or handbags. amzn.to/3bODViK

I'm glad it was helpful. I had only 1 zip zip for the longest time, then I figured out how to fix it and added multiple additional colors. So far all of my RU-vid videos are on fixing strap issues. From no strap at all, too long, too short, messy or converting to another way to use it.

Thanks for watching. For the longest time I only had 1 zip zip bag because of the flapping handles. Once I figured this trick out, I got more colors when on sale. I keep wanting to do more videos, but have been distracted. As carabiner clips keeps running out of stock, I sometimes use others from Ebay. Some are harder to get through. Last time I used some flat pliers without ridges that scratch to pull through once I had it stuck through enough to be exposed. I will definitely do that again. Take care!!!

Thanks for watching. The zip zip is one of my favorite styles. Did you know that if you have 2 zip zip bags with the same strap you can also make them into backpacks? Just need 2 matching straps and minimal hardware....less than $5.00 per bag. That will be my next video.

Thanks very much!! I have now done a lot of these. Sometimes it is a tight fit, especially on new bags, but go slow and don't pull too much on the spring. I also recently started using flat/smooth/no teeth edge pliers to grab onto the clip as it come through the opposite side of the leather. A little faster and easier to not bend the spring on the carabiner clip.

Thanks sssoooo much!!!! When I used D rings I had to first open them with nippers and would practically mangle them to open them up. Then I put paper towels around the ring as I was depressing with pliers to prevent scratches. The carabiners are so much better...the metal finish is nicer, no scratching and much easier to put on. You do have to work at it to get it through the leather belting, but it will fit. Be patient as you push the carabiner through and careful not to twist/bend the spring gate on the carabiner from side-to-side. I haven't broken any so far, but I think it can be broken. I still have 2 more bags to put them on...pale pink and chocolate colored zip zips. Thanks for watching.

Hello Ashley, Thanks for the nice comment. I am on Dooneynistaden on FB. Love it. I do have multiple brands in my collection, but Dooney is the bulk of it and since I gravitate to that brand I also tend to notice annoyances that need to be addressed. I also have a collection of Coach, Brahmin and scaled down Michael Kors to mostly convertible backpacks. I recently figured out how to convert many of my Dooneys to backpacks so I might get rid of more Michael Kors. Converting satchels & drawstring/bucket bags to backpacks will be my next video topics.
