I grew up in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. (Manitowoc has a real submarine you can tour, btw). We camped almost every weekend in Door County. A fish boil is an event…a real must. Lots of great hikes and beaches on both sides of the thumb. We always went to see the goats on the roof at Al Johnson’s in Sister Bay. Lots to do, for sure!
Great video and now I have another adventure on my bucket list. While living in the UK, were very lucky to go to multiple cities in Germany and also Salzburg Austria during the Christmas markets Dec 2019. They were so much fun and the atmosphere was amazing. We were also blessed to have been able go to Normandy during the 75th Anniversary celebrations. Hope you all have a wonderful time over there.
I’ve been to Washington Island and rode on the Madonna. My daughter and I played in the water at Schoolhouse Beach…I got so sunburned. Went back to work a few days later and a coworker told me that I was glowing from the sunburn. Door County Coffee is absolutely another favorite of mine.
Camera off during family time is the right thing to do! I vote for trees! Shade is great. I really love your videos. I've added so many places to my bucket list because of the wonderful places you visit and share with everyone. Thanks! SOS is the electronic god's gift to old people. The days of being free and disconnected; were the best! Safe travels to all!
Great video, guys. Beautiful area and some nice folks there in Wisconsin. I think i would prefer the trees. I can understand not wanting them, especially if they are dropping limbs in a storm. Agree, family time is your time, and their time. Glad y'all got to spend time with the family. Getting ready to see Ruby again. God bless y'all and stay safe on your travels.
Welcome to Door County. We summer over near the mainland ferry dock. Jackson Harbor soup and sandwich is near the schoolhouse beach. Awesome place for lunch. Wagon trail is another great campground near Ellison Bay.
I love trees but after being out East for a while I start to feel smothered by the trees, and long for some wide open vistas. Headed home to Colorado, when we hit Copper Breaks State Park in Texas, it was awesome! We could see for miles! We could see the sunrise!!
Washington Island is so cute. Our friends have a beautiful Class A and this awesome travel van they named Hobart. We met them camping in Door County 2 years ago. NOW, Door County Sister Bay is our hot July camping get away. We LOVE Door County. Maybe you awesome folks will make it a yearly trip and we can hang out at a get together.❤
Stayed at Hy-Land in July great central location to the many villages. Rode our bikes to pick cherries. Couldn’t get availability 34 ft5th wheel in any of those wooded sites so stayed in the open area. It was nice. Our fire pit was placed by the road which wasn’t good but overall a good 10 day stay there. You must have also had a car to drive around in?
We love having some trees. Nice to have some shade and some sun. Open parking lots are ok for an overnight or busy touring days...otherwise, TREES yes. 🇨🇦
We are from Wisconsin and have enjoyed Peninsula state park in Door Co. Did you catch the cool curvy road just before Gills Rock. It’s a great photo op in fall. Best photographed heading north. Have not taken the ferry to Washington Island yet. Enjoy your videos.
Since we covered our roof with solar panels, we're anti-tree. We carry our own shade with us as our array is 15 inches off our roof, allowing plenty of cooling air underneath. We also have a solar awning on the side of our coach to shade our bedroom window too. This makes shade trees unnecessary. Plus, we're afraid of limbs crashing down on our roof in bad weather and the inevitable bird poop, leaves and pine straw on our panels that trees facilitate. Of course, trees reduce our solar production greatly too, which is important, as we never plug into a power pedestal anymore.
I have to have trees! If the site doesn't have them, I don't go there. Even though I have severe allergies as well, I just carry my inhaler😊. Thanks sooo much for this video, looks like a place we would like to visit. It would be a wonderful reprieve from the oppressive heat here at home.
17:38 Tell me he has refused hikes before without telling me he has refused hikes before! Her reaction to his acceptance of hikes had me rolling! Hahaha.. Get him on those hikes, Stacy! Hahaha Let's see how those sea legs of his like it! Hahaha I look forward to the vlogs that include him hiking!!
Nice camp grounds near many activities. Door County is about 2 hours from my home. We take the motorcycles up there and to Washington Island. Since part 2 is coming, I'll hold of on recommendations from locals till that video is out. Old Fashion is a very popular drink in Wisconsin supper clubs all over the state. And all thosectrees are extra spectacular in fall foliage of color. Hotel rooms are impossible to be obtained then.
We have Starlink mounted on a pole attached to oir ladder. To move I would always take it off the pole. A few weeks ago Starlink added the option to flatten the unit. Since then we haven't had a problem and had good signal parked AMD driving down the road. Starlink is pointed almost straight up. It's worked out great without putting it in automatic mode. 😂
If you’ve never been to Europe around Christmas (Weinachten in Germany) you are missing out. They villages markt have pine balms lining there wares and craft booths. Must try the glue wine, it is a mulled spiced wine in barrels. Soooo gesmecht! So Delicious in German. Makes you warm inside. Chocolate don’t miss. I love Hersheys, Nestle, and Mars. Be Swiss and German Chocolatier’s are excellent. Don’t try the bier, you won’t drink American beer again!
Door County is awesome. BTW, the history of the Angostura Bitters bottle and the goofy oversized label is fascinating. Apparently, labels were ordered that were too large for the bottle. The owners didn't want to throw them away so they just used them. It has since become their signature marketing feature.
Hey Gang.. I'm only 10 miles due west of you and across the bay, 5 miles North of Menominee, MI.. and on the water. Smile, wave and I'll take your picture... OOOPS!!! Lost my telephoto lens.. Come on over & enjoy the beautiful U.P. Lots to see and do here... I enjoy your vids and wish you safe travels.
I just recently found your channel. I am curious as to what you are using to capture all of your videos, especially on the road. Do you have a video that discusses what you use or could you list what you do use.
Welcome aboard! We use a DJI Pocket 3 camera, with the DJI wireless mics, for most of our videos. We have used GoPro's in the past, but now use them as a secondary now that we have the DJI. We use Final Cut Pro to edit on a MacBook Pro.
Hello and God Bless both of you. ❤ ❤I love and prefer the trees for sure. So I would park surrounding the beautiful trees. 🌲 ❤I love that you are private about your family times!!! Enjoy and will look into the Christmas 🎄 2025. Is this open to us Canadians 🥰🤷♀️
I tent camp and specifically choose BLM that has trees and heavy undergrowth (here in Oregon) That way I can't see my neighbors and they can't see me. I want to have the feeling of being a away from people. I just move my solar into the clear area as the sun moves. I'm more of an Anti-RV rather than Anti-Tree person. I know. . .then why am I watching your channel. Cause I like the places you go.
We haven't looked at it. We have towed and driven the Jeep. So numbers would be all over the place. I will take a look on our way back to Winnebago (If I remember). LOL
