It was anti colonial song. This song was against British. To avoid censorship we (our great forefathers) use the word Japanese and German instead of British.

Maybe it was against both? A lot of Indians weren't fans of the British but viewed Japan as a bigger immediate threat so fought against them

@@cybertronian2005Indians joined because they were fooled by british agent gandhi. Why only stop at this. Why not speak of 1946 naval revolt where every Indian sailors from Yemen to Singapore erupted in open revolt. Union Jack was ripped off and Indian tricolour flag was hurled in its place with posters of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and demands of immediate freedom throughout all Indian naval bases be it Karachi in Pakistan(showing the falsity of british propaganda that partition was inevitable), Madras, Mumbai, Kolkata etc in India. Why not mention the fact Royal Indian Airforce refused to bomb the rebels' position showing they too were about to revolt. Why not mention the fact that Maratha regiment which was sent to quell the rebels at Mumbai disobeyed the orders and deliberately misfired their guns in order to ensure no one in the ships get killed. Why not mention these facts?? You people are too much eager about mentioning Indian soldiers' being volunteers in world wars but will never mention these facts which wrote. Even draconian measures like Rowlatt Act - of which buggers those who say british rule was beneficial for India, have no idea of - was passed after ww1 in the fear Indian "volunteer" soldiers would rebel once they return to India. Why not speak of the ghadarite conspiracy which almost lead to the full scale 1857 type rebellion but failed as british cane to know about it in the last moment. It did actually succeed in Singapore where the Indian regiment actually held the city for 2 days. Jallianwalabagh and subsequent tortures, beatings and humiliation of innocent public(about which people don't really talk about), arrests etc were done to prevent another 1857 type uprising which the british intelligence feared. It wasn't just about stopping a simple Congress meeting. It was to strike terror into people's mind so that they would tremble infear when thinking of revolting. But those people who seem to fantasise that Indians always loved the british, british never oppressed them, never committed atrocities etc never speak about these facts. Albeit they don't know only😂😂 all they read is propaganda. Regarding many people thinking Japanese as a bigger problem. Of course loyalists and collaborators like Indian National Congress had a lot of problem with the idea of Japanese aided liberation of India. After all they would lose their political patronage. They after all wouldn't have been able to rule post independence as Japanese wouldn't let british collaborators rule India. The same Congress condemned the naval uprising and didn't supported it and were instrumental in pulling it down. The same Congress didn't induct them in naval force after they were court martialed by the British and jailed(which was a betrayal for the British along with Congress promised them no harm if they stopped the rebellion which is why the rebellion failed as they rebels were disillusioned by lack of any political support. Only the communist who are actually the biggest traitors after Congress fully supported them). They were not given pension, no recognition nothing. Their names were forgotten. No one knew about the revolt before internet era. This is how Indian collaborators who continued to rule post independence treated actual freedom fighters. BTW Foreign aid to Indian revolutionaries was not uncommon. Germans have been supporting Indian revolutionaries even before ww1. One of the greatest Indian freedom fighter Jyotindranath Mukherjee even received personal assurance of arms supply from the then German crown Prince on the eave of ww1!! Many princely states were actively involved in this. Like Sayaji Rao Garkwad of Baroda who actively supported Aurobindo Ghosh the founder of Anushilan Samiti. Anushilan Samiti is the reason why India is free today not bcoz of that bald traitor(u know whom I am talking about) or Congress. Needless to say, it is immediately after the naval revolt that Attlee declared that they will leave India. Otherwise they could have remained well into 1960s 0r 70s especially with Congress who were actually not demanding any freedom but dominion status. Kenya after all was with british till 1960s.

Correct, but at the time the filmmaker labeled it as anti-japanese song because if he did label it as anti-british, he would've gotten arrested and the movie that he made that goes with this song would've been destroyed.
