Every single African American living today must acknowledge that they are descendants of the brave and strong ones who survived the gruesome, from capture, holding in the horrible dungeons for months, torture filled journey across the ocean, to the brutal treatment on plantations in the West Indies and the Americas.

If Blacks came from different parts of Africa, was this the only door that all of them came through or are there multiple places like this

The truth is that Ghana was used as a major hub, all slaves from other territories were congregated in these dungeons for bulk transport across the Atlantic ocean. 80% of all the castles and forts built by the colonial powers in West Africa are found in Ghana. The brutality of the trans Atlantic slave trade is more visible, well documented in these dungeons in Ghana than anywhere else because those other places only served as temporal holding places. In Ghana as the major hub, slaves could stay in the dangeons for many months. We must also understand that the continent of Africa wasn't properly divided and demarcated during the days of slavery. Africans were living almost as one people in small tribes and communities.

Who? Where are present day rich West Africans who's ancestors profited from the flesh trade of my ancestors who were slaves in Haiti? My husbands ancestors that were slaves in America?
@koagyeman
@koagyeman 5 лет назад
No African profited per say, every body was fighting for his or her survival preventing capture. That was why tribal affiliation became strongest to protect your own, because when you fell prey or victim to capture your group or tribe would become depleted and then you lose the strength to fight or to protect your yourself or the group. Bear in mind that those days too, Africans were not very United, so everybody was vulnerable, hence nobody profited from slavery, they do not exist anywhere now. Some people may say the chiefs profited or made profit, but they also lost loved ones because the partner they were dealing with i.e. the white colonialists wasn't truthful but a liar and devilish.

@@koagyeman if u think this is the case ure sadly mistaken, the people that sold Africans into slavery are the same people in power today in africa, the same people that work to keep the continent down. Do u think Africans are stupid? This has been a global plan for hundreds of years.

The Africans who remained on the continent - it is their ancestors who enslaved your ancestors and sold them to the Europeans. To narrow it down even further, the tribes living along the coast were in the very least complicit in the trade, since the slaves had to be marched through these lands and the Europeans needed permission to build these castle on this land and to keep them there for 400 years. So why aren't they rich today? Because the African slave traders never got anything of real value in exchange for their slaves. They were mainly interested in European weapons, rum, tobacco and decorative glass beads known as trade beads. Weapons quickly become outdated due to advances in technology, while rum and tobacco are consumed instantly. The beads were useless to begin with. None of these can be used to build a prosperous civilization. They traded an enormously valuable ressource - unlimited human labour - for worthless items. Had they chosen to receive payment in gold, precious gems or other internationally recognized valuables, they'd be the wealthiest people in the world today and the Europeans among the poorest.
