I could not believe that so many people had the exact same problem with their microwave. Lolol. And it's the exact same model and everything. Many many thanks. The repair costed me a whopping $0.19 with a washer from home depot.
Add a metal washer behind the handle screws to spread out the pressure on the screw head against, the plastics door.. this should help from breaking. 🤞🤫
WARNING- the top flashing has 2 screws (on mine) that should be removed BEFORE pulling it off. I just made the mistake of pulling it off thinking it was a snap off/on and broke the tabs. Also, the stainless face scratches VERY easily. Lay down a thick towel before you start. I put down rags and still scratched the flashing and the door a bit. Some Flitz metal polish helped but it starts to remove the brushed finish. You could go back with 1500 grit (or finer) carefully/lightly in the direction of the brushed lines. I appreciate the video, it helped.
My handle broke recently too.. it's good to know I'm not the only one. I'll likely never go with LG after this experience - very poor quality! Thank you for sharing this, and sweet pink glasses!
I Have the LM1760ST and the only difference is there are two screws on top of the blower vent to get the plastic blower vent off. Great Video lots of help. Thank you
Useful and clear. Many thanks. Fixed my door. The clip that depresses the microswitches had broken, but I was able to insert a small self tapping screw into the broken part and reattach the spring. Better than new. And free...thanks to this video.
My handle broke in the exact same spot. I just filed down what was left of the old cheap plastic that broke and replaced it with metal spacers. Works much better so far
LM1760ST here. The lower plastic bits holding the outer glass all broke on mine due to age I guess. JB Quick Welded them back on with help from the vid. Thanks for the video!.
Bro, you won't believe how I had. to spend my Xmas morning! Thank you for showing us how to get it done! I didn't replace the door so I had finesse a solution to that problem because just replacing the door would have been so many headaches, I'm sure you follow my meaning! LOL! THANKS AGAIN AND GOD BLESS YOU!
Very VERY GREATFUL for your video I followed your instructions to the T from ordering the door from Amazon to using the puddy knife to get the glass out...thanks for sharing💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Your video was super useful. I just replaced the door handle on my LG LMV1762ST. Thank you very much. If others have any questions I’d be happy to answer.
Thanks for this video. It's still helpful after one year in March 2023 Just one note, I have the identical model number but the top strip over the door did not "pop right out" . Mine is screwed in to the top. I had to get a foot stool and look down on the top of the microwave that protrudes from under the cabinet and remove 2 screws. The top edge then pulled out and the part was lifted off. This may be a difference simply from the year of manufacture, I don't know. And per one of the tips that was posted, I did put a metal washer behind the screws!
Thanks, someone below was asking about the top strip mounting, and I guess it's different on some models. I kinda wish mine were screwed in, since the cheap plastic snaps break easily, and I've had to fix it with duct tape.
Well Damnit you made that look a million times easier than it turned out for me. I managed to shatter the glass window into a million little pieces trying to remove mine. :(
Do you need to replace the whole door frame? If you had access to a 3D printer do you think you could make those plastic tabs and reattach them with adhesive?
I have the same microwave and the handle broke in the same way. One day I was pulling on the door like normal and the whole damn front of it came apart. Cheap garbage.
Good info, especially T about the fishing needing to come off first. However it would have been nice to actually see you reinstall the door besides saying" just do it in reverse" I can't get my door onto the top hinge hook.
@wesmcdowell It will. You have to take out the black screws that are on the top. I did the same thing until I realized that it doesnt just pop out. There are plastic tabs under the cover that helps hold it in place
I have the same microwave door and what are ridiculous design. But I have a question for you. I am not exactly sure how this is supposed to look when you put back the microwave shield glass. It seems like the tabs are much lower in the front of the door then they are towards the back. However, it was a screw on the bottom, for tabs from the left between the fourth and fifth tab on the left on the bottom that has a piece that the screw goes into, it's about an inch high and it's causing the whole thing not to sit right. Is there any way that I could put a picture in here of that piece? It seems to screw into the base fine without it so where the hell did this piece come from. It seems totally fine without it but that doesn't make any sense. Is there any way to get you a picture of that piece?
Thank you sooooooooooo much for this. Exact same problem. LG should be sued for this. My microwave is one year old. Is this going to be an annual occurrence? I literally have the same issue, that stupid little plastic piece broke. Is that piece included in this frame/part?
@@TheGeriatricMillennial-80 Yep. Silly to have to buy the whole frame, but it was "only" $20 or so. In the comments someone suggested adding a washer...that sounded like a good idea to me.
