FERMAT’s WFT 13 is the latest investment at Bobcat’s innovation center, but that’s not why we’re here. We’re here to show you where they design, manufacturer, and test their prototypes. You’ll see their work bays, where each machine is assembled.
Each work station has its own worker with his own set of tools, working on an individual prototype. There’s a large 3D printer used to create products in 2 days that would otherwise take up to 15 weeks to make using a mold. If it’s successful, the part’s put in final production. And, with Bobcat trying to keep dependency on suppliers to an absolute minimum, they even make their own hoses and tube lines. As to testing, there’s a specially-designed tilt table that measures the function and stability of the machine at different positions.
You’ll enter the largest acoustic chamber in Europe, where they measure the noise the emitted by the machines. And, it’s always ready, all-year-round, in perfect conditions. After the innovation center, you visit the manufacturing hall. Here you get to see their mass production, where they make excavators and loaders; and, they can make up to 80 machines a day. You’ll see how they start with the undercarriage; and, in 10 stations they put all the pieces together, add the finishing touches, fill it with fluids, start it up, and drive it off the line.
