@@Antech666For starters, those rudiments he's incorporating in this solo predates rock. His opening statements were perfectly played buzz or press rolls, most commonly used in classical music, not to mention the orchestral setting.
Great job! Thank you for putting your own spin on the free cadenza of DOPE! You definitely got my praise! And to any drummers out there watching this, go listen to the work and make your own "dope" solo, put it out there and I'll check it out! -Katahj Copley, the literal composer.
@@Asmodai281 I’ve played orchestral and a solo is a solo. A drum solo is a solo… to enhance authenticity and a sense of improvisation is certainly permitted almost always (even if sign posts are predetermined by musician and or conductor. As I referred in my comment and to answer you, it’s achieved Namely by dynamic nuances and inflections by the artist. Don’t get my comment wrong- he’s certainly a skilled musician- I just found his solo lacking in inspiration. He has good chops, just a rather static solo imho. That’s just an opinion though and should be perceived as such. Thanks for asking. Again, he is a skilled player!
@@Asmodai281 This guy has never played in an orchestra lmao. The conductor just keeps time and sometimes gives queues for when instruments come in. There's also an element of showmanship for the audience. I bet you think learning how to read music is cheating, too lol
I never act as a critic of musicians. Im 62 years old have been behind a drum kit since 6th grade. But how can anyone say this was a great solo ? Animal, the red hairy character on Sesame Street is more exciting to watch.
Why is everyone acting like this is the best thing ever? He's playing a watered down Neil Peart drum solo. Starting at 4:25 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LWRMOJQDiLU.htmlsi=knrmvbL1YFTCcMEZ
This guy is definitely not metal-focused or a trap player. He's an orchestral guy passing himself off like he actually knows how to play a drumkit and he definitely, I can assure you, does not.
@@ollaitsrealgoodHilariously jumping the shark there. He’s replete with rudiments and touch, full complement of technique, the only thing he doesn’t give here is a ton of dynamics. In any case, he’s clearly reading this as, at least, charts off the page…
Skilled? Yes. Weird? Definitely. Maybe with more context but this solo just seems out of place, robotic, and uninspired. He is a hell if a drummer so I would put this more on the arrangement. The sight reading is weird. It just makes for a robotic solo.
@@vernonsteinkamp1088 It's the musical equivalent to calling your cable company and talking to a call center where they are reading a script and don't ever deviate from what is written.
What was that? I must be an ignorant, nothing against the technique that is awesome... but for me it seems there was nothing related and only technologgy bubble. I did not understand this solo.
@@ivanalt I never wrote that I can play like him. I WROTE that his technique is awesome. I put respect on him. So what you want with your shit to call me "mad". It has no sensce to discuss with people like you.
People like to criticise. He didn't glance at the sheet music once during the solo. He's playing in an orchestra so of course it's required when playing along with them. I thought he did a great job.
There's always some douchey naysayer no matter what the post. Any guy referring to himself as "master" is a douche nozzle to me. Same with a guy who calls himself a "Renaissance Man". My guess is all you've "mastered" is irritating people.
I'm sorry, but I don't think it's good. I don't see much skill. It was not fluid but choppy instead. There was no life or energy in the solo. There was no rhythmic development. It was just pieces of first I play this, then I play this etc...
